The set of skills taught at the academy would almost be entirely useless to this guy, and they barely get enough training as it is. This guy might feel he needs to prove himself as a cop so maybe he's taken personal time to practice techniques that work for him and maybe received specialty training. Most wouldn't do this though. People typically join the academy for work, or they join for the right reasons and get lost along the way. The pay isn't reasonable enough for them to be these noble hero's we expect them to be. I'd worry about this guy's safety. I doubt he could make an arrest alone with a grown man actively resisting him.

There is a limit though. Law enforcement is a demanding job, some things just cannot be "accepted" even if it is a disability. But I understand that because of the nature of the job, not everyone who has a disability can do that kind of work. But kudos to the officer with one arm, really inspiring.

A police officer with one arm, that's incredible! Props for those around him that gave him a chance to his job despite only having one arm, sadly most cases with people having disabilities like this they are flat out denied a position like that due to their disability when it comes to law enforcement or the military, in many cases its not even limbs, just having slightly lesser hearing or sight in one ear or eye might be enough for them to flat out reject you to even try out.
