    The only cons to the Flying V is that you’ll never be able to play another shape again because you’ll love it too much. Sitting classical is great and I can’t go back, and u just feel powerful

      I commented, then accidentally deleted it, but it's true. I've had a Flying V for a year now and THAT is the correct shape of a guitar. As soon as I held it and started playing it, I knew I was done with "the other guitars"

    ultimate fix for the sitting V IMO. Make sure your strap is set up correctly and use it to stablise the neck.
    Really, the guitar shouldn't move positions between standing and sitting, otherwise it can throw your muscle memory out of whack or, in the worst case, you write a part sitting down and then can't play it standing up. Even the great Satch made this mistake.
    As for "wing-dings". I love my guitars, but they're made to be played. I'll do my best to avoid damaging them, but if they get bonked once in a while, I don't lose too much sleep over it. It's just another story point in that guitars history. Even none-pointy guitars end up like this when they're loved to death, have you see the state of Steve's Evo?

    • @mr.sorenzo
      @mr.sorenzo  4 месяца назад

      You have a point re the strap. It becomes basically standing though. The moment your shoulders carry the weight the dynamic is basically a standing dynamic, not a seated one.
      Can’t agree with you on sitting vs standing positions and muscle memory though. It’s like saying if you are playing standing you shouldn’t walk or move became it throws the muscle memory out. You practice so much that you can adapt. Yes, some positions will be more comfy and you play the harder riffs in that position. But ideally you want to be able to play in any.
      Totally agree re the dinks and Vai’s Evo. I just hate the feeling lol. But yeah they are tools after all.
      I know Mick Thomson (slipknot) stopped playing them during his Ibanez era, because he kept hitting the others with the tips😂

    If you are tall (i'm 6'6") a V will feel and look comically small in your hands. It isn't nearly as cool as when Alexi Laiho (5'8") played it. I like an X shape or Explorer shape a lot more!

    I must be wrong, but I love playing my V sitting down with a strap. I also feel that only the Epiphone and Gibson have the cable jack in the right place for playing both sitting and standing. A cable with a right angle end makes it easy to bring it back through the strap without sticking out. Also, V's looks the coolest. Everyone wants to talk about it and many players tell me they always wanted one but never got one. There is something to be said about standing out. Its a great conversation starter. I say, buy a V.

    One thing I didn’t consider when sitting down with a Flying V is that you can’t sit all the way back in the chair because the wings on the guitar will hit the seat. In other words, you have to sit on the edge of the seat to clear the wings on the guitar from the seat.

    • @mr.sorenzo
      @mr.sorenzo  4 месяца назад

      are there scenarios where you don’t sot at the edge of the seat? If you sit back the edge of the char will push the lower part of the guitar up. Or maybe I didn’t quite understand what you just said

  • @jellybean4183
    @jellybean4183 2 месяца назад

    Good points, but I totally disagree with this not being a sitting guitar. This would only be the case if you don’t use straps. If you use straps correctly (and it doesn’t have to be a special one) the V style guitar will balance in the perfect playing position while sitting down. At least it does for my ESP Arrow.

    • @mr.sorenzo
      @mr.sorenzo  2 месяца назад

      Then- as you just explained- you are playing it with a strap, not a classical or folk positions where the full weight of the guitar is on your legs. It's not about if you're playing standing or sitting on a chair. It's whether the weight of the guitar is on your legs or upper body. If you're playing strapped on, the shape of the hardly matters. V shaped guitars are not for playing seated guitar holding positions such as the classical or folk style.

  • @l0rd_breeigo-sama954
    @l0rd_breeigo-sama954 3 месяца назад

    I mean a pro for half of the people, is that sitting in classical position is much easier, than say a Les paul or explorer. It does however depend on the thickness of the sides. Cause it Can be very thin and the guitar gets very low down. And i currently own an explorer, firebird, 2 Vs and 2 strats. And i would say the V is the most comfortable to play with when sitting and standing, though sitting in the folk way i would say a firebird is the best
