If you found the original NES game to be a bit too old-fashioned and difficult, give this Game Boy sequel a shot - the improvements make for a much better experience!
*sigh* I remember this game. This is me and my sister’s very first gameboy game we’ve ever played and didn’t complete the fist stage. So frustrating, but good times. Good times...
Greetings from Mexico. This was one of my favorite Game Boy games when I was a kid Spended hours and hours playing Game Boy games XD this one was one of the largest and some difficult I played. Thank you for sharing the entire playthrough
I haven't seen this game since I played it on my friends' Gameboy over 30 years ago. He was able to beat it and he showed me the ending and, to this day, I have not forgotten the closing image of the smiling sun sending Pit to his doom.
I miss all the good Game Boy games from this era (1989-1999). This game, along with others like Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and other titles, the Tetris games, Alleyway, Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Q Billion, Qix, Paperboy, Paperboy 2, Double Dragon, Bases Loaded, DuckTales, DuckTales 2, the TMNT games, The Final Fantasy Legend games, In Your Face, RoboCop, RoboCop 2, Navy Seals, Mickey's Dangerous Chase, Super R.C. Pro-Am, Caesars Palace, The Simpsons games, Battletoads, the Tiny Toon Adventures games, Blaster Master Boy, Q*bert for Game Boy, Yoshi, the Kirby games, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends, Swamp Thing, the first 2 Ren & Stimpy games, Joe & Mac, Yoshi's Cookie, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Mortal Kombat, Popeye 2, Wayne's World, the NBA Jam and NFL Quarterback Club series, Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman!, the Donkey Kong Land games, the Arcade Classic games, Street Fighter II, Killer Instinct, Iron Man/X-O Manowar in Heavy Metal, Mole Mania, The Fidgetts, Tamagotchi, Turok: Battle of the Bionosaurus, Brain Drain, WWF War Zone, Frogger, The Smurfs, Mulan, the Pokémon games, The Rugrats Movie, Oddworld: Adventures, Beavis and Butt-Head, and Super Breakout, etc.
I proudly beat the first game on my 3DS VC release (the one with the extra Famicom sound channel) and boy was it great and a satisfying challenge! Lots of people talk about "Uprising", but they need to remember this was the first sequel to the original. This game is indeed a substantial improvement to the first game and highly underrated IMO.
I discovered Kid Icarus via Super Smash Bros Brawl(with Pit). I never take the time to play a KI game. Maybe i was distracted by Super Mario and others. This one looks cool.
This game was in my GB bundle I bought in 1993 in Moscow, so it was my first GB game =) Others in sale were with Tetris but as far as in Russia almost every kid had Chinese "Brick Game" I think it was a right choice.
IMO the last great Kid Icarus game, I never felt Uprising stayed true to the side scrolling formula as it looked to be an FPS game instead of a grand adventure game to rid the land of evil. Yes, I know they kept the Greek setting and all, but watching videos on the game years back, I never felt that the game didn't stray from it's platforming side scrolling roots. They could've done it as a side scroller, with updated sprites and all, I just think some franchises are better off as 2D games (Contra is one, Metroid is another).
There are some on-foot segments in "Uprising" where you explore the environment including some dungeon sections as a possible tribute or throw-back to the dungeon stages the original "Kid Icarus", right??
Agree. I also dislike the more anime-ish approach the series took since Uprising and prefer the more cartoony designs of the original two games. Another thing I dislike in Uprising is the dialogue, which can get really cringeworthy sometimes.
If you thought (that) Uprising was the very first sequel to Kid Icarus, then you were most certainly wrong! (I mean "You" as in anyone reading this comment, not the owner of the video that I'm commenting on)
Literally took me 20 YEARS to beat this game. I finally beat it today.
Congrats!
20 Years of intense every day playing! Postponing career and family! But you finally did it!
I found this game at an antique shop in 2014 and I just beat it recently. 6 years for me.
Darthstarkiller912 Congrats that game was a killer to me
@@TheCarlson25how about earthworm Jim on the gameboy ? It’s insanely difficult.

I wonder if the Japanese VC release gave the story a Japanese translation.
The game was not released in Japan originally, not sure if they got it on the 3DS honestly.

The 3D Classics version or the original?
1:23:55 Game's Ending!
I like this ending better then every other KI game. He gets powned by the sun. Perfect. Also accurate to the real character.
You're very tall, aren't you Parutena?
Still have this one complete in box nearly 30 years later. Never beat it when I was a kid.
never beat it too but brings back memories
Dude, same. I would always get to the same spot and not progress. I’m going to have to fire it up now using this vid.
So many years spent playing

This one looks cool.
I bet kids had to make a tough decision between this game and Metroid 2 back in 1991.
Soundtrack 10/10
Agreed. I love it.
I didn’t even know this game existed !!!!!!!

Both the original and Gameboy games had dungeon stages, so it would be a throwback to both games.

I love the anime approach
Kid icatus reminds me of strange castlevania

The forgotten sequel
Not forgotten to those of us who own a copy.
This is filmed from actual Gameboy, what's your camera setup like?
It's a Retroarch shader making it look that way
Mejor Orcus si lucho con su forma normal a diferencia de medusa antes de transformarse.
Too bad uprsing didnt make a reference or acknowledge of this game
