It's been a few years but the Let's Watch series is BACK on my main channel! What should me and my friends watch next? ALSO, check us out live on Twitch on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays PLUS the full cut of the VODs up on Patreon!
Can you watch Eleanor's secret (2009) [French - Kerity La Maison Des Contes]
It's French-Italian animated feature film
It would be a perfect time for film to get noticed!
The hollow.
Can you two watch atleast episodes 22-25 of *Alfred* *J* *Kwak* (but not in english, because it's a pretty poor quality english dub)
It's actually a pretty good old animated Dutch show with some really interesting history behind it, and it would be nice to me if it got some more attention online through channels like yours.
And again it has a lot of nostalgia for me and I would really appreciate it if you where to watch it and I do recommend it a whole lot 👍
Can you do upload video of Hannah Montana episodes for me please?
You should watch Happily Never After 1 and 2
I'll be honest, having one animator in a full-length feature film is impressive.
AND it was drawn with a 2005 Wacom tablet on a CRT. I can't even imagine the headaches I'd have.
My farts are better than Saberspark and Saberfart’s farts 💨
and I think the animation is really nice !
Idk. Seems very bad for your health.
It's an impressive feat one one person can make a movie/video game by themselves.
It's far more impressive when it turns out good.
Not only did this dude make this movie himself. He also made it AT HOME, which is why his kids are voicing some of the characters. He legit roped in whole fam into this project. which, despite it being not a good movie...story and character wise, I am still impressed. Because the TIME it would take to animate a whole ass movie that's like OVER AN HOUR LONG is CRAZY. This was clearly a passion project, not a good one, but a passion project...because I cannot imagine doing all this for a quick buck. as I've said, it's just too much time and effort. Most animations that want to be cashgrabs are made quickly and barely taped together.
Maybe he was hoping that he'd make enough money from this movie to start his own animation studio.
It didn't even break even though (earning $463k at the theatres vs an estimated $2 million budget), so we'll never get "Hamlet: Hogwild in the Barnyard", "Titus Andronicus: Are You Kitten Me?" or whatever other Shakespeare plays he was hoping to butcher.
SEALed with a kiss ☠️ like making a Romeo and Juliet movie with rats called Cheesed to Meet You
my farts are better than Saberspark and Saberfart’s farts 💨
Or with Garden Gnomes and calling it...........................

I remember watching this on Netflix when I was a kid

@@EliasTressaThat was on Netflix?
I completely forgot about this movie
@@EliasTressayes! I also watched it on Netflix long long ago. My sister still refers to the shark song 😂
Phil is a friend of mine, and he spent about 5 and a half years on this movie, and nearly blew out his whole arm from all the drawing he was doing. We ended up friends after I wrote him a fan letter back in 2012 asking how he did it, because I wanted to make my own animated films from home. The dude is very reclusive and disappointed with how 2D hand-drawn animation has become "a thing of the dinosaurs." Nowadays, he's just jazzed to be riding his recumbent trike and taking odd animation jobs wherever he can find them. If I ever want to know what's going on in the animation industry for 2D "dinosaurs," he's a text or a call away. The man is full of knowledge and cool stories, when he feels like talking.
Aww, what a sweet guy. A lot of the flaws of the movie were probably because he was doing everything himself. It’s still impressive that he did everything himself. 3D animation can be amazing, especially with how advanced computer animation is now but 2D animation is amazing too and an important art form too.
The animation is kinda good? It's not a good movie, but especially for something done by one guy, the animation is good.
nah the fact the animators daughter had a cameo was adorable
are you ignoring the random terminator references tho lmao
Kissy's voice actress is 26 now and apparently taking after her dad in being an artist too, which is cool.
Poor Phil XD He carried this movie on his back single handedly haha
my farts are better than Saberspark and Saberfart’s farts 💨
Don't shout, @@UTTPandYFGAarebetterthenMATPAT
Prove it.
Ngl I was actually OBSESSED with this movie as a kid lmao I even suggested it to the teacher after we read Romeo and Juliet in class and we watched half of it before class was over
This is how I first learned the romeo and juliet story
I learned through that one stupid gnome movie
Lol, same😂
I can only imagine your reaction to reading the source material. "What do you mean they stay dead?!"
@@CelticGuardian7 it was really funny ngl
U should watch Gnomeo and Juliet next time. It was a passion project by Elton John and it's Romeo and Juliet but with garden gnomes. It's pretty weird but I personally love it

what about sherlock gnomes?
@@viviennemorgan7217 that too, but he should start with the first one since Sherlock gnomes is worse
OMG I love this movie!! I thought only me and like five people on Reddit have ever watched it 😂 I watched it when it was on Netflix as a kid, forgot it then remembered it a couple years later and now I watch it every once in a while. It’s not even a guilty pleasure thing, I know the animation is cheap and (was done by one person I think??) but the dark atmospheres were so liminal and contrasted in a perfectly weird way against the lighter cartoony animation of the seals and other animals. It’s just one of those nostalgia things for me if I’m honest, I know critically it’s pretty campy but I truly adore this film.
It apparently did have a limited theatrical release too. I remember watching it last year or so and it was...exhausting, felt like twice the length it actually was
These movements and facial expressions are pretty impressive for just 1 animator
Vivziepop?
@@maravreloaded no, this is Patrick
I went to the convention center this film premiered at as a child, and they wanted a kid from the audience to announce Phil’s entrance as an independent animator. I ended up being chosen, they whispered some things in my ear to say about him as he walked up and I, as a 6 year old, couldn’t say his last name right but the audience thought it was cute. It’s a shame the movie did so poorly, because Phil was undeniably passionate about his work and could draw the characters on the spot. I think his passion inspired me to want to be an animator
Oo made in abyss
Honestly, props to Phil for singlehandedly carrying the animation department. It's pretty impressive for being done by one guy. But still, this film's awful. And you can tell it was done cheaply.
Agreed. This is why movies need a team
No ill will towards Phil, ily Phil
Man can animate but he can’t composite lol
Well working in a basement with only your kids will do that to a film. But it’s kinda like- so bad it’s funny.
This entire movie was locked away in my memories until the moment I saw the thumbnail. Lol
5 year old me thought this movie went SOOOO hard. Adult me is too busy laughing at the obsurdities to enjoy it properly
Dear god, I remember this movie.
STORYTIME:
When I was a kid, the only TV program I watched was one called Minimax, it had a little bit of everything, a couple of shows from Hasbro, some from PBS Kids, etc. They would also air some kid movies along with the shows. Then this abomination was released, it was terrible, absolutely terrible. but that wasn't the worst of it, because, for some ungodly reason, they aired it twice a day, every day, for months. And I watched it, multiple times, just because I didn't else to watch back then.
P.S. I wanted to rip that stupid fish to shreads everytime she opened her stupid mouth.
Bro...
I saw it a few times on Minimax too, it was one of my fave movies.
Another series I absolutely adored was an Avatar knockoff called Master Raindrop, I think. Looking back at it now, the animation is not that good as I remembered.
Children have awful tastes.
here after schaffrillas made a video about this movie. honestly, i feel like i would have a way more fun time watching this than any recent disney output (mainly wish) bc, yeah, it's very low quality and the low budget Shows, but what also shows was that this movie was a work of love. like, who else would put on all the effort in directing, editing, voicing a character AND animating everything by hand all on their own if they didn't love this project or the art of animation on itself? all kudos to phil, hope he's doing good nowadays.
"The Girl Who Leapt Though Time" came out a year later, in 2006. Seeing it in the corner was a nice surprise! The seal cartoon is silly, but mad props to the dude making it mostly on his own. A passion project through and through.
lol,I personally loved this movie when I was little jshdjsj
“When I was little”
Sounds about right
This is one of those movies where it’s really bad but it still gets like an A- just from effort alone.
Killer Bean comes to mind immediately
@@fuzzybuzzy3159I agree
Thank you for unlocking a childhood memory.
All animated by one guy .
I guess you can call him the original indie animator
When the only expression Saber can pull is 🤷, you know he's simply flabbergasted
He and the emoji even have the same colors lmao
Holy crap! I remember this film! I used to watch it all the time as a kid. I named one of my stuffed animals after Juliet, because it's a white seal. I didn't realize anybody else remembered this movie!!
I'll admit, this one's a guilty pleasure for me. It's by no means a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a cute little time waster. Also, the main leads are very cute seals-whenever I see them, my brain just goes, "Ay que lindo!" like Luz from The Owl House.
This shit was my childhood i watched it ao so so much as a kid bro
The otter looks like squirrel Merlin from The Sword in the Stone.
Gotta give respect that this movie was made by ONE guy
Respect for the effort and hard work
So I saw this as a kid and decided that I loved it and I had two littlest pet shop Seals that kinda looked like the movie characters so I would act out the movie with them. I literally don’t remember a thing about the movie now
I LOVED THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS LITTLE! i also havent watched it since I was little so i cant wait to see how bad it is rhkshdjshd
Haha This movie is what introduced child me to Romeo and Juliet and it made me fall in love with seals. I rewatched recently for the nostalgia and OH BOY was the quality not as good as I remembered it being. However, the fact that this was made by a SINGLE GUY is so incredibly inspiring.
Saberspark's laugh is contagious 😂
Omg the movie of my childhood :D I watched it at least 15 times
I lose it every time the little fish says, "BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG trouble." 😂😂😂
HELP ME THIS WAS MY FAVORITE MOVIE AS A KID I WOULD WATCH IT ON REPEAT WHEN IT WAS ON NETFLIX 😭
God, this movie was availible back in the day on Netflix Brazil and I remember child me skipping to the ending because my morbid curiosity wanted to know if they had the balls to kill off the characters
The fact that it's a whole animated movie done by one person and looks quite alright to add to it is legit super impressive. I just wish the two main characters didn't like babies, it's so distracting
I remember watching is as a kid on Netflix with a friend and it unironically became our favorite movie to quote
sealed with a kiss is a fever dream.
but i love seals.
I remember watching this as a kid and loving it so much. I still do
What I wonder is why all these Romeo and Juliet remakes have things end happily ever after for the couple. That, uh, kinda misses the point of the original play.
Well, maybe people just enjoy a happy ending. Most see "Romeo & Juliet", rightly or wrongly, as a love story and never looked deeper and folks just want to see "love conquering all".
Finally, a cute kid's cartoon involving suicidal seals or gnomes just seems "wrong" somehow.
@@SpukiTheLoveKitten75 "Maybe people just enjoy a happy ending." Then find a different story than Romeo and Juliet.
Making a children's adaptation of Romeo and Juliet is wrong, period. Might as well make on of Titus Andronicus.
I'll be honest when I say I actually really liked this movie as a kid. One of my friends had it and I loved watching it. ❤
What crazy Shakespeare-animal-related thing will they come up with next? A Midsummer Night's Dream with kangaroos? Much Ado About Nothing with pronghorns? MacBeth with partridges? Taming of the Shrew with real shrews? The Twelfth Night with alligators? Hamlet with lions- Oh wait, that actually worked.
the Merchant of Venice, but with turtles
The fact that there was only one animator kinda shows
I saw this at my local Blockbuster back in the day and wondered if it would be worth it. Thanks for sparing me the agony.
this movie was one of my favorite movies growing up, so much nostalgia
7:42 I love the way you used a soundbite from “Next Episode” then a few seconds later Rishi says “nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-no”
This hit my with such childhood nostalgia like a flashbang
Last year in my schools drama club one member said that we should watch this movie that he remembered from elementary school, we watched it at our last meeting. Since then it became a tradition and we’re gonna watch it again this year. This movie was dumb but also very funny, I enjoyed dying of laughter at the kinda song with my friends from high school. Truly a one of a kind experience
Thanks Saber for reading my Reddit post(s) and streaming this Let's Watch!
I've been wanting to see this review for years :D
I like the little edits added in lol
Film may not be great but I still respect the hell out of it.
I love this animated movie!
i watched this once in a sleepover when i was 9 then proceeded to erase that part of my life from my memory for the next 11 years until this gave me whiplash. thanks
I think you guys is a little harsh on the animation choices and mistakes.. like, this guy did this all by himself. A single dude on this production. I just graduated and finished my bachelor project in animation and therr is a reason that animation movies is such a collaborative project, as it takes so much effort and skill for it to happen. This is an impressive feat by one guy
I had it on DVD 😭
I've been WAITING for this one, bless
I remember really enjoying this movie as a kid lol
Same. 👍
It is impressive this was animated by one person
The rap song at 12:30 reminds me of "Party Time" from that one animated Titanic movie.
i have nothing but boundless respect for phil nibelink for solo'ing an entire movie, this is the stuff artists and animators dream of, and say what you will about the end product but its undeniably his, and its harsh to call it a box office disaster when it was homemade, this wasnt made by some big studio.

Bruh, I think remember watching this film when I was a child, with a Spain dub that changed the name to "Fofita", saying NOTHING about Romeo & Juliet 😂
Man, this is a real blast from the past. My parents used to sit me down in front of this movie.
I remember watching this and i loved it.
This just unlocked a memory I forgot existed. I didn´t know that anyone else knew about this movie, I still have the CD
I LOVED this movie as a kid, I still love it even if it isn’t the best
Not gonna lie, I loved this movie as a kid
This movie was more enjoyable watching it with you guys on your stream! 🙌

I remember when this was on Netflix. I actually watched it quite a lot from time to time. Along with Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star being the villain song has me in tears
Gnomeo and Juliet didnt die for this
At 7:22 that edit with the otter had me dead, thank you for a good 5 min of laughter
I was obsessed with this as a kid. It was my favorite for three years.
Finally saberspark reviews a good movie!!
Thanks!
No way! I remember this movie! Somewhy I loved it as a kid..
Lol, this took me back when I first saw this on Netflix at like 10 or 11
This is also how I learned of the actual Romeo and Juliet story
1:22 When was a kid Ihad a pirate DVD of this movie at my grandma's house, id watch this movie every single time with my cousins over and over again to the point we almost memorized the whole movie, I could tell that my grandpa was sick of that movie because he hid it away at some point, I wouldn't be surprised if he burned the DVD down
Nice to see some of your videos being moved from the highlights channel, to here
Juliet looks like Casper the ghost. This is cute!
Oh, and... SAVED BY THE CROSSDRESSING PINK ELEPHANT SEAL!
As far as the ending, I don't mind if an adaptation of a story with a sad ending changes the ending to a happy one. I feel people should have a choice. There was even a version of "King Lear" that had the ending changed to a happier one.
That said, if a grim ending is a major part of the original story's "point", then I can see why others may balk at my above assertion.
Funny thing is, although the "happy ending" version of "King Lear" was a bit cheesy and the original grim Shakespeare version is considered "superior", the happier redo was actually closer to what happened in the real-life events that inspired "King Lear" and it was The Bard himself who changed the original happier ending to a grim one.
Now, if someone can do a version of the happier King Lear in the style of Shakespeare that still feels natural and not overly cheesy, that would be great.
Finally, one could see the original tragic ending of "Romeo & Juliet" as somewhat happy, the two families stop feuding and make up, and, depending on one's beliefs concerning the afterlife, Romeo & Juliet are "living happily ever after" in Heaven.
Loved it
I remember watching this once when I was young and Kate at night I think because I found it while just looking for movies in the middle of the night good times 😊
