I might have said this before, so if I have...oops. the one thing I absolutely love more than anything in my grip is my food warmer. Couple years ago I put my food on the radiator to warm, it fell off into the oil. It was 11 pm and we were in some small Texas town and no place open. I was starving. Anyway, engineer recommended his and I got it. Food gets very warm (obviously you are reheating the food, so don't throw raw chicken in unless you want a few painful days off). The particular brand i got was Hot logic food warmer. There are several brands and some come with wall plugs, some with car chargers, saw one with a USB. since you recommended the charging brick, I looked up car charger to usb cord. It runs about 6 bucks on amazon. Sorry for the lengthy reply but in 20 years this has been my #1 happiest purchase for the job.

Currently doing my mark up trips for CN, looking for a grip that doesn't cost an arm and a leg (Red Oxx) like the duffel bag style. Thanks

Another great piece of kit is stabilized binoculars. When pulling into a yard that is a sea of run through switches, it helps.

@@Indica902 Suggest talking with the union and reviewing your rules. As far as I know, Canadian rules mirror US rules in many ways on safety. They banned them in the US because people were thinking that they were looking at a switch or signal on their track, but were actually looking at a different track.

Great suggestions. Wish I would have had a head lamp for changing out knuckles at night. Look mom, no hands.

tried to order the coat for CP but they are sold out in XXL in orange. The comments said they run small and to size up. I will have to keep an eye out for them. CP prefers to wear layers instead of heavy winter gear.

You should do the do's and don't when you hit a car or fatality. Do we talk to police? Hand them our ID? Driver license? What do we give the police officers? I would love to see your feed back

First render all available first aid if you feel you can safely do so. If not, just provide only enough information to emergency services to save the life. Under federal law, a company issued ID is all you have to provide. They can not require you to provide a state issued DL, your home address nor phone number. If they insist, invoke the 4th and 5th amendments. You only have to provide a basic incident report to the company. Keep it as short as possible. Do not say anything to police without union and legal representation. It can and will be used in both civil and criminal court against you. Do not say anything to the company official while the LEO is in ear shot.
