      bridge fort is the worst for sure my survivors barely shoot anything up there and im lucky if one comes down during a raid and my vehicles keep getting fucked from juggernauts. a really bad place if you dont like zombies spawing directly outside of your door when you are doing repairs on your vehicles too

      Here's an idea, why not make these vids, ignoring map placement at all?
      Sure, center is fast and all, but it's FAST and all.
      Off-center is not so fast, but gives a tiny bit longevity.
      What should be ACTUALLY kept in account, is the bases options.
      Number of small indoor slots, small outdoors slots, big in tree nestled slo... no wait, skip that one.
      But you get me.
      A base should not be about it's location, but it's practical and tactical use.
      Some bases, handily, have, for instance, hardly a Zed Spawn.
      Tactically nigh perfect, as you tend to not die that fast than to one spawn is virtually in your base.
      Or 6 spawns around your base.
      Logic.
      It would be, for instance, preferable to have a smaller, but much safer base.
      More work, surely, I agree there, but a lot less threat.
      In the end: what is a crap base worth, dead center the map...?

      Container Fort is easily a gamebreaking base after the buffs to outposts.
      Its landmark outpost next to it gives the staging area effect, and with how you only need 3 food outposts now to feed 8-9 survivors with food scaling and upgrades on lethal with an additional 1 outpost or garden to cover all med consumption, Container Fort becomes insane with how it truly is "What two large slots do you want? Have them. What 5-6 small facilities do you want and 1-2 outposts do you want? Have them"
      Hell; if you get 8 to get the fort and then exile 2 (it is a small enough fort where 3-6 can easily defend it), then even on a fresh nightmare run you can do 2 food outposts, 1 power, 1 water, 1 fuel, and landmark for staging area outpost, then 1 meds garden, and now you get net meds and fuel gain with no food loss, water, power, and your base has the power of 4 large slots with 5 small slots to mess around with freely.
      I feel like the reason why Cascade Hills got the Landmark Outpost that acts as a staging area is to overall give every base on the map the effects of +1 Large Slot to make up for how put off a lot of the players are by having little to no large slots

      That base is also runner up for best base in the game; even though it only has 2 large slots it gives free watchtower effect for no cost or slot consumption, 8 beds with no cost or slot consumption (already the power of 3 large slots)
      And now after the outpost buff it even has a nextdoor landmark that negates materials upkeep (so easily gets the full power of 4 large slots), it is the most self-sufficient base in the game, meaning that in 1-map (no moving to another map) 100+ day runs it is the most powerful base to hold up in due to hitting no resource loss before the outpost buff, after the outpost buffs it becomes a base where all you get is just freedom whereas most other bases still require investing the slots they give you into other things.

    I love the Corner Office on this map. As you mentioned, the central location is awesome. Also, if you gather vehicles, like I do, you can block off 2 of the 3 gates, so that when you get hordes coming in, they only have one gate to come in, which makes defense cake. At least until the Juggies come around and throw your cars around...

      There is a glitch that can cost you the 8 bed bonus. the 1 indoor small slot ( comes with the workshop already ) if you remove that , and log out, the 8 bed bonus can disappear . I sent them a ticket when it happened to me the first time and they said they would look into it. I had it happen to me a few times. I don't know if it has been fixed because when i move the workshop i always make sure that i have a facility in the indoor slot and since then i haven't lost it. The one thing i see all of these base comparison vids miss about the container fort is the Castle Doctrine buff. You literally get free guard towers that don't cost Ammo. 4 guards @ no ammo as well as noise reduction. .. no other base gives you that.

    Another great video to start off the new year! I agree with your rankings 100%. I love battling from the Corner Office before obtaining the Container Fort. I have noticed that you don't use the "Staging Area" in any of you videos. Is there a reason you don't go for that facility.

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  5 лет назад +2

      I have thought about using it from time-to-time. It might see use in a base with 3 large facilities, but the first 2 are reserved for the Trade Depot and the Farm. I could drop the Farm for another hydroponics facility, but I go through food pretty fast, and I don't always have the small facility available for a 2nd hydroponics.

      @@GitGudFox Point taken. I didn't start playing this game until mid November. That said, the first play through was purely for fun and edification (starter tutorial characters on a random map). Then I finished the builder and trader playthroughs for obvious reasons. I am now almost finished with the sheriff playthrough and have had a blast.The "Staging Area" option does not really come into play until the third large slot is available. If I had already finished all the playthroughs then playing as a trader with a lounge and trading outpost would be my first go to as well. For me farming materials is a must so I now always have someone with the recycling skill and eventually end up with a staging area in the mix. Keep up the good work.

    I have a tip for any player dealing with a juggernaut,
    1st: get him alone.
    2nd: Swap to your close combat weapon (knife)
    3rd: Follow this mind set, he takes 4 staggers to take down, on the 4th stagger he can be executed, now for fighting him, you need to watched his attacks and dodge, his attacks are usually telegraphed enough to do that, it you can take a small break for stamina a couple of times and watch his attacks, he can be easily taken down which.
    This tactic is to mainly preserve weapon durability for you melee weapon and other items.

    i'd have to personally argue the bridge fort to be lower, hostiles getting stuck under the bridge derping out the AI and staying there even during base assaults meaning you have to clear out a hoard or two or fail the base defenses and the slightly better location of the church makes the church a much better option

  • @evilwillhunting
    @evilwillhunting 3 года назад

    If you get a squad of 10 survivors armed with automatic rifles, you can pretty much just sit in the container fort during a siege and do nothing. Your team will wipe them all out easily at the two choke points.
    Also, an exploit I found: if you have an incoming siege while you are away, go to an outpost and change characters. The siege will instantly start, without you being there. After a moment, you'll be in the "Clear Out Remaining Zombies" stage until you get home (take as long as you want), and the siege concludes the minute you walk into the base. You get the Influence reward without risking a thing, plus you wont lose the 3 ammo for neglecting a siege.
    This works no matter how big the incoming siege is -- it'll be over when you get home without anyone getting a scratch. It's a handy little exploit if you're sick of doing siege defenses or dont wanna trudge all the way back.

Every problem in the game can be resolved with the right tools, but if you aren't constantly exploring the tools, you could have no idea that you've had the solution to your problems all along.

  • @eilifkr

    Great ranking of both Meagher valley and Drucker County. However, on Cascade Hills i do disagree. I would rank the bridge as the worst of all bases in the game. And thats simply because i find it as an death trap if i only have 4-5 community members. The watchtower takes up 4 people who will stay on upper floor. So during a siege, you will find yourself stucked alone while those at the watchtower will fail to do anything, as the floor will prevent them from shooting any zombies in the base. And as the base have entrance on both side, you will notice that you get surrounded by zombies quickly in a way you wouldnt in any other bases. Even if theres no siege, you will have problem with zombies coming inside the base, as it looks like they use it as a road getting over to the other side. And if thats not enough, the stairs down to first floors is not fixed, making you fall down and injure you all the time if you are not careful. There is also some watchtower problems on other bases. For example watchtower at the church is so high up that the community members on guard will usually not shoot at any zombies getting close to base while L&K have some stair problem to the watchtower, but only for the community members, while you are ok. Watchtower on corner office is ok, tough.

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  5 лет назад +1

      I find that this doesn't matter on Standard Zone, but I would rate this base a lot lower on Nightmare Zone. The game is so easy that the defensive state of a base often does not matter unless you're causing a full scale siege, and that would be hard to do with the smaller community this base is intended for.

    • @eilifkr
      @eilifkr 5 лет назад +2

      @@GitGudFox, You are right. The siege are rarelly any big deal even in nightmare. Unless you have a horde close who gets drawn in from the noise of the siege. So i guess i just been unlucky as i always have a horde with juggernaut and feral walking around on the east side. It is possible to make a blockade on the east entrance. However, if you try place a car in front of the entrance, the game will eventually remove the car and place it on the parking spot. Personally, i like the corner office before the church. You are right, they are pretty much the same. But the church is harder to access. More driving getting up there with brick walls and entrance to base who doesnt fit entrance to the building. While on corner office you can stop your car right on the street and walk right in. Corner office is also more compact with short running distance from one side to the other. Even so, all 3 bases have the huge advantage in nightmare, as they are central. Fuel is one thing, but reduced risk of damaging your car due to lower travel distance can be essential. Thats why i love the nightmare. Things i never cared about is now important to take in consideration.

    • @GitGudFox

      Every base with a steep firing position for NPCs sees to just be bad. The NPCs aren't very good at shooting downwards. The Church on the Hill was extremely bad for this. I don't think I ever had the bell tower guards ever contribute to a fight.

    Container Fort was my all time hated. Yes, it looks great with the benefits but it is a major flaw in Nightmare Difficulty. Characters will literally walk out the doors when under attack from sieges. Or fall off the watchtower. What makes this even worse is there a will go out one at a time. I lost three survivors due to 3 Juggernaut knocking at the door. One Survivor went out the door to fight them by themselves and died. The next Survivor followed suit as well as the third. There was no "team defense". Just solo survivors dying one by one. I tested this Theory out and it continued to happen. I feel that this base with its multiple levels really messes up your base defense. It was the biggest mistake I made moving from Church on the Hill to the container fort. I do like the fact that it gives you extra beds, lots of building space and can be very self-sustainable. But in my honest opinion for nightmare mode this base is a literal death trap. Any other base AI tends to stick together and fight together giving you an overall better defense. This base scatters your survivors and basically will cause certain death. I lost three survivors due to the flaw on my first Siege. I have lost a total of 5 all because of that flaw. I have put many hours into this game and have never seen anything like this at any other base. To the point I never had a single death in any play through until I moved here (have beat nightmare 3 times already). In my honest opinion I would rather the starter base then this death trap.

      I can check it out again. I have lived in the Container Fort, on Nightmare Zone, without a problem, but a second look at it couldn't hurt.

      Git Gud Fox I see his point. When I used it to farm influence they’d always fall off the ramparts when I came back to it. Lost my hydroponic guy, he fell off and died in a siege.

    M&M is a cool base to me cz I don’t mind the drive 😂 as long as you have access to gas the drive doesn’t matter

      My thoughts on the base changed in Lethal Zone because all that really matters is absolute power.

    Hard to believe so many are unable to grasp the simple idea that your thoughts on base "quality," is based on your opinion? Wow, what a strange concept. 😄

      It's even like schools of thought.
      In the Mechwarrior/Battletech universe, there's this eternal argument of what's better 1 big cannon or a bunch of small lasers? Both will get the job done, but depending on who your tutor is that you're listening to, you'll be instructed in likely 1 or the other not because 1 if definitively better but because each person making guides and tutorials will likely fall into a certain "school" of thought.

      Git Gud Fox basically the generator and the large building spaces, didn’t realize until later that the base was hard for me to defend and I didn’t take into account how far of a drive it was from everything, I moved into the storage container base and it’s so much better for me

      @@customkush7103 I think that's one of the best bases in the game. It might even be the best base in the game if what you want is a self sufficient base with all issues of upkeep resolved easily resolved.

      Git Gud Fox yeah I’m liking it but I’m having issues keeping up with morale right now due to supplies being low and multiple infestations in the area, I’m new to the game so I’m still figuring everything out
