8 and what I fear the most is when a random character gets the plague out of nowhere and dies, even do I wasn't there and from magic one of my characters is died.
And lets be honest the number of plague hearts is to much, that is sooooo boringggggg.

My issue with lethal isn't lethal. It's the AI. 9/10 I'm using my cures and stuff on folks who stood in bloater clouds or tried to 1v1 a jug. It's incredibly frustrating.
I as the player am fine, but anyone else gets deleted and it's really hurt my enjoyment of the game.

Yeah that can get very annoying
I remember a long time ago I recruited someone, and on the way home we came across a jug (This was on Dread btw)
For some reason they decided to try on that big boi on their own
I tried everything I could, but they died
Didn't even get to home base before they died, and that is the only death I've ever had. The one gravestone due to AI stupidity

The blood ferals are my only real problem rn

  • @dagorian86
    @dagorian86 2 года назад +25

Personally found lethal zone more difficult because of the blood ferals alone! Honestly without the pyro launcher I would have been in a lot of trouble with those mofos.
I also found the first 10 hours or so challenging just because of the lack of loot. It was rough until I became self sufficient later on.
I would play it again on another legacy but I really don't have it in me to do 40 plague hearts again. Such a turn off. 20 is plenty enough.
In my opinion the difficulty was 8/10

You can tell someone how to do something, and show them. However they may not quite get your intentions. And this mentality approach Fox is going with is a more useful way.

I heard the advise just in case, and yeah pretty much all of that is true, especially the powerspikes one. Once you learn to identify them the game gets so much easier. Also not all of them are the same for everybody, for example in my case one huge powerspike is getting my hands on the "filling machine" since I can then create a massive amount of fuel bombs which are great for all zombies except the juggernaut, it even lets you win some good distance from a pack of ferals so that you can try to headshot them even without gunslinger.

Would stuff such as full health and full stamina meters (as in uncapped by significant amounts of trauma, fatigue, and/or burning lungs) qualify under the "crutch vs. tool" scenario?
What about the ability to not quickly run out of stamina as I try to either run from the Feral and/or beat the Feral at its own game?
Or when it's reasonably alone vs. there being a few plague zombies close enough?
Because those are the main issues that I've encountered when trying to figure out how to handle Ferals.
Since very recently losing one of my four survivors (and ending up with two frustrated survivors, both of which thankfully recovered after finding and dropping off a rucksack of medical supplies), I've resorted to quitting to the menu when being chased at one if I'm significantly crippled.
EDIT: Also, regarding infestations that crop up, is it preferable to hold off on tackling those until finding a crossbow or at the very least a way to take care of hordes at once if the silent approach isn't an option?

Reasons being I started playing on standard zone.

And everything started to become too easy.

Somewhat of a mistake, did not know of all the buffed plague specials.

Prepare to be shocked because I find lethal massively more difficult than Nightmare. But that's coming from someone who hasn't trained in nightmare mode and went straight to lethal, lost 3 times on day 1, and backpedaled to nightmare. I find it considerably easier due to the lack of blood ferals alone. Also note that I play with no radio commands so guns are almost impossible to acquire for me on day 1. I literally got sieged and killed on day 1 in one of my lethal plays.

I beat my first legacy as a builder because my biggest fears are hostile humans and the zombies. Definitely rage quit on some unexpected blood ferals and I had close calls with survivors threatening to leave due to morale issues. My other complaint had to do with a small amount of influence and that the NPC’s kinda frustratingly suck in combat whenever I either lure some zeds back to their base, example being a Blood Feral and they barely can shoot it or shoot the zeds bringing in more. Bloody plague definitely made things harder as well but I felt so accomplished after beating the builder community, I’m still unaware if I wanna have a warlord or a sherif as my next leader, they both involve hostile humans but they also have rewards totally worth earning at the end. Once I beat all 4 communities on lethal I’ll probably head back to nightmare so whenever I destroy plague hearts, they kill every zed around me
Update: I’ve finally Beat Lethal zone with all 4 leader types and I have all the Boons, it was one hell of an experience but it was so worth it in the end

Blood Ferals are a joke. You just farm them for standing. They die in 1 hit to the Impaler vehicle that every player has access to because it is a radio command call-in.
Stamina items are rarely needed. Everything can be killed either by driving in reverse into with the Impaler or burned away with the pyrolauncher, both are available as a radio call in to all players.

Basically, there's an answer to every threat in SoD2 such that you should basically never die.
      Lots of zombies - pyrolauncher
Ferals - gunslinging, pyrolauncher, car (let them jump and and squish them), sniper tower + climbing up on something
Blood Ferals - pyrolauncher, sniper tower, gunslinging with an autoshotgun, sniper tower + climbing up something
Juggernauts - Bouncing Boris, high capacity gun with a brake, sniper tower
Blood Juggernaut - Bouncing Boris, high capacity gun with a brake, sniper tower
You can outrun every enemy in the game except ferals, and you can burn them and run while they put themselves out.
      Level 3 Infirmary + Surgery + Pathology = +50HP, +50% Plague Resistance, and +50% Injury Resistance
There's an answer to every enemy, every situation. All those whacky videos of people dying are often because they just make bizarre decisions.

anyway, on my pc the game has now so many new bugs it is really annoying to play, very hard to enjoy at the moment. i found so far 5 major bugs, but must stupidly annoying is zombie standing inside the car, unhittable, and you have to get in the vehicle to move it to get access to zombie....well, lets wait for another patch;)

Heck I wish it was that easy on the New Trumbull valley map on lethal everywhere I went they were at least three screamers always and I mean always three to four hunters in every single horde there's at least and always one blood played jug I survived two full days until I had a siege coming on my second day the end of it I was just about to turn it off wrap it up and I had a siege come so I stayed and fought it there were three blood plague juggernauts five hunters for screamers and more than a dozen or two zombies and I lost nine heroes

honestly for me its the hearts, its just not fun destroying that many of them, tooled up on the trainer and pumping 5-6 mags worth of ammo into just 1
multiple molotovs, unlimited ammo, and i just wouldn't enjoy slowly gathering the supplies to deal with them, the infinate reinforcements, the ferals, occasional screamer that turned up probably cause it was simply nearby , maybe the whole time in 2 plays i've killed 3 juggernaughts, one just cause it was near my car. where they at?
i've despised ferals since the first game due to that games no minimum spawn distance and them insta killing on spawn 3 of main peeps.
so dealing with their shit in lethal wasn't fun for me, bombs were doing shit all, couldn't just creep in, det a few, like whatever they want me to do to deal with ferals i dont know what it is, no ammo, no real gun, in 4 games, 2 of which failed immediately, they largely tore through my team without issue, nothing to fight them with, twatting them for 5 minutes with melee with the squad, one of those plays by the way was a start game feral killed me as i was going to the start house my party running into a fence, or fighting a normal.
outside of getting building materials to get upgrades, supplies wasn't an issue for me. the upgradeable buildings made that a none issue. med station uses 2 meds? the iconic in drucker, gives 2 meds and some health jazz. need ammo? any normal supply post upgraded. so food? well if you can get the garden going , 2 posts, sorted on food , dont know how to get the talon uplink anymore, for the +2 posts, or the talon guy for an extra ontop of those massive amount of spare shit.
and even after all that? you only need those supplies because theres no weapons dropping to deal with the ferals spawning to defend hearts, like yay i lobbed a molly at the heart, time to just go far away and do it again later. just not fucking fun dealing with those twats.

Cheese I would consider exploitative things that take advantage of the game's programming limitation. My overpowered strategies don't do that. Here are some strategies to try.
Impaler Vehicle: kills all ferals in 1 hit if they touch the rear of the vehicle which is covered in spikes. Upgrade a Legendere car in the autoshop or use the radio command to summon an "Ultimate Edition" vehicle to get one.
Just lure the ferals over and let them touch the back of the car for an instant kill.

I feel like it is important, as of the date of this post, to point out that there are a lot of bad glitches happening in SOD2 right now. The hot fix that came out merely fixed the one set of crash issues, it didnt fix all the rest. So if you are starting a lethal zone save, make note that things might go sideways for no good reason.

How hard do I rate Lethal Zone? There are a few ways to look at that. Technically you beat Lethal Zone by clearing all PH and completing your leaders legacy. I don't find that too difficult to accomplish within 20-30 days and rate that experience 7/10 on difficulty. If you are playing a 50+ day community Lethal zone quickly ramps up to an absolute 10/10 to the point where you don't even know if your base is just being attacked by wandering hordes or being full on sieged until you check your menu. You move maps and the first plague heart you try to clear is calling in more zombies than you thought the game could handle spawning in. I love it, but I have to exit the game when the community AI gets overwhelmed and simply can't handle the threat because they aren't using their guns, or they are walking outside the base vs going to the watch tower.
