Thank you for this post. I am enjoying the show at home! Chris Layton still has the goods after all these years. Imagine SRV still with us at this show...
Watching this you realize how great Hendrix was! Not one of these very top tier talented acts comes close the vibe, raw energy, swagger and his pure artistry. That's how innovative and original he was! Great songwriter, sonically innovative, soulful vocals ,incredible guitar player, killer rhythm player. The guitar was an extension of his body, mind and soul. One of kind!
I have never been able to get into KWS. However, after watching him here, especially during Voodoo Chile, I think it is time to I gave him another try.
@@williamb.8059 Hendrix was a black man B4 ANYTHING, and having more of that black presence in his music, at "Experience Hendrix" is VERY important. His music is Desired by all, but 2 say Jimi's music was not about race is BS because Jimi himself wanted more black folk in the audience, and even tried 2 do benefit gigs 4 the Black Panthers.
The Experience Hendrix tour really needs someone to deliver the goods Some of the most reputable guitarists in the world are playing at this Hendrix tribute show And most of them are BLOWING IT! Randy Hansen deserves to be on that stage!
Randy is awesome. He sounds and looks like Hendrix more than anyone. But you aren’t looking at this properly: these are all artists playing here that have made a musical career playing their own songs. Hendrix’s may have been an influence for these players, but they didn’t make an entire career out of imitating Hendrix. Hanson SHOULD sound more like Hendrix than any of these guys, because he has spent his entire life doing a Hendrix tribute show.
It's not easy. There's a handful of guys that really get it, the same ones who are fans like Eric Johnson. You know that guy goes home and listens to Jimi.
kick arse show, Jimi had a big smile for sure .. he's all over Seattle, cap hill, pioneer square, alki, renton, south center, burien, white center, magnolia, ballard, parkers ballroom, everywhere . . .
I like that they have some of the best guitar players out there playing. I know they have some that come in for a few days when their tours permit. I'm hoping to see some footage of Taj Farrant when he plays in a couple of weeks.
Today is September 21. Tomorrow, they play in Reno, Nevada. I have nosebleed seats. Hopefully the sound is better. Im really looking forward to seeing taj mahal live. Im 65 and always missed his shoes before.
Perhaps due to the proximity of the guitar box, more in Master Taj Mahal's performance, the vocals were affected! But, it was worth it for the historical record! Very good! Jimi is alive and well!
I agree, Taj’s vocals were particularly quiet, and I think you are correct, there are some drawbacks to being right at the edge of the stage, like amp placement. It was a dream to see a legend play though. Rock on!
Seems like Kenny W. Shephard and Noah Hunt have been performing these tunes all along...Very at ease and in the moment ,where some other performances were a bit tentative maybe?
The difference between Hendrix and all these players is simple. These guys play guitar... Jimi fused with the guitar, it was part of his body and soul.
Nobody touches Kenny Wayne Shepherd. I went to see the show live years ago and he did voodoo child and it was like Hendrix was there. It was the most unbelievable thing I’ve ever seen in my life.
Yeah, sound usually sucks up close, there was a speaker right next to my face. I enjoy both views but couldn't pass up a chance to see so many great guitarists up close. Glad you got to see the show in person, rock on!
Let's all do what have to do to get RANDY HANSEN PLAY A BIG SHOW IN SEATTLE. .......JUS OUT OF RESPECT !!!! COME ON PEOPLE !!! BEFORE ITS TOO LATE. PLEASE SOMEBODY CAN DO IT.
Eric's own strats have hotter pickups. As great as it is to see Jimi's real Woodstock strat, the tone is better out of his. I love watching Eric get into it, blows everybody off the stage.
Years ago they had Mitch Mitchell, Chas Chandler, Billy Cox as support band for everyone including Randy Hansen on guitar for last set. Amazing. Wow the lack of preparation on some of this is unforgivable.Felt bad for Eric Johnson, but why not at least work stuff out before, or just not do it at all rather than trying to sing a song you cannot remember? Nothing more annoying than people in audience who wont shut the heck up the whole time.
not sure why zakk wylde was there after recently doing a video calling jimi "the model T of guitar or A don't remember critiquing his speed, I saw jimi twice and zakk is even dumber than he looks jimi was amazing in "every way live" and does a tribute with over the top speed licks
Axis seems rushed as Johnson can barely get his words out-and he seems very nervous singing this one-but his playing is an excellent study of Jimi's attack.
Really pleased with themselves at the startup of I Don't Live Today, but it was shite! Total non-start, which is doubly sad because Sheppard was doing well before that.
Good playing but dreadful sound - guitar is buried below the rhythm section for the most part. Lack of any real dynamics - something that defined Jimi's playing.
Eric Johnson channels Jimi Hendrix the most gracefully and beautifully.
Yes, if anyone can do Hendrix justice, Johnson can. Definitely one of the greats.
His chords compliment the melody, hell, I can't even explain it. He sure plays clean, and as fast as he needs to play fast. He's a true Hendrix fan.
Actually, Frank Marino does. But he wasn't invited. Sad
@@mrreemann3739 Even if Frank was invited, he wouldn't participate

Awesome, rock on!
NONE of these clowns are worthy to be SRV's roadie, especially that dirty biker, Zakk Wylde.
Kenny W Shepherd with Hendrix’s Strat……oh that tone and playing !!!
Saw this about 15 years ago and kenny Wayne Shepard killed it. Absolutely

Erick could have played the whole show, just him self.. he totally killed it 🤩
It was awesome, I was just there last night, really great shows and performers, Henri's voice was great.
I agree!
KENNY WAYNE SHEPHARD WOW!!!!
It's like watching Stevie again. Amazing
I have never been able to get into KWS. However, after watching him here, especially during Voodoo Chile, I think it is time to I gave him another try.
SO GLAD 2 C more black musicians on stage at "Experience Hendrix".
Jimi was not about race.

Someone might want to remind Zakk, 'Bridge of Sighs' was a Robin Trower song, not Hendrix.😂

I would have enjoyed hearing/seeing 1983... live.
thank you for keeping the legend alive ❤️💫
great job, masters... !!!
Where's Randy Hansen or Eric Gales?
Or Frank Marino or Robin Trower?
@@mrreemann3739 I know right - they picked the wrong dudes for this.
Seen this show in Shreveport last night it was AWESOME!!!!!!
At 208:33 Kenny pays tribute to Jimi, watch it, feel it. Thanks, Kenny.

awesome! thanks!
Where's Billy Cox? I hope he is doing OK.
Shout out to Mato Nanji. Maybe not as well known as some of the others on the stage, but a great player and very deserving of being there.
It's Kool 2 hear what guitarist do with his music❤

RANDY HANSEN before it is too late

Will Taj be in st augustine?
Just curious and im guessing it might have already been addressed but why is Billy Cox not on bass specifically for this Seattle show?
Great video but audio sounded better back in the audience further

The shoulda called it the Hendrix massacre experience hahahahah.
Big kudos to Taj Mahal for NOT succumbing to the black plague. This man has the courage to be himself, and not a peon.
Then you must not have heard a guy by the name of Angel Reca
IS THAT JIMI'S WOODSTOCK STRAT???😯

Whats the point. There isnt anybody left who played with jimi. Give it a rest, be happy with all the footage we have.
Taj jammed with Jimi in 1970.
Axis seems rushed as Johnson can barely get his words out-and he seems very nervous singing this one-but his playing is an excellent study of Jimi's attack.
