God of War Ragnarök is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will be the ninth installment in the God of War series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game will be set in ancient Scandinavia and feature series protagonist Kratos and his teenage son Atreus. Serving as the finale to the Norse era of the series, the game will cover Ragnarök, a series of events that bring about the end of days, and depicts the deaths of some of the Norse gods, which was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Æsir god Baldur.

That one cutscene of aterus about to enter the portal and kratos just walks from it has so much meme potential lmao
It's also just an incredibly dad/son thing to happen. XD
Boi bumps into Kratos booba
I watched gameplay of the entire story cause I dont have a ps5 nor plan to get one but god dam that gave goosebumps when he walked out of that portal lol
Scariest moment in the game frankly

1:55 Kratos: LOOK AT HIM.
Atreus: 🥺
no it's literally the same 😭😭😭😭
He’s just a baby!
that scene gets me every time. he's really out here standing with the pleading eyes while his dad is the rawest warrior that has ever lived
it even zooms in
holy shit I almost barf at this comment laughing

Kratos is the definition of action speak louder than words.

@@jasonblack2760 Oh
@Wanabechef7274 True
And the definition of “wake up and choose violence”.
"for the sake of our children, we must be better" that's the most fathery thing a father could say
A message to the real world, really.
He's not "A Dad."
He's "THE FATHER"
The True Allfather
Yeah he should be the all father, the real all father
@@iBFP. you want me to edit it out?
What about "Daddy"?
@@elijahgrimm8052 Okay bro I don't know what you're consuming BUT UH MAYBE IF YOU WANT? THOUGH I'D RATHER NOT IRRITATE THE FATHER
Kratos doing that double back when Atreus says “Peeing” was hilarious
"Where did this little twerp develop the _COURAGE_ to lie through his teeth like that"
Basically Kratos at this moment: @_@ tf?
I just realized that Atreus is half Greek and half Scandinavian lmao
Part titan. Remember his grandfather is Zeus, and his great-grandfather is Chronos
@@hyperblue3137 And Chronos is a descendent of Khaos himself, the Greek primordial of Origins if I am remembering right. Add in that his mother is a Jotun, who went head to head with THOR need I remind you, and this boy got himself a "POWER!!!"-class pedigree! Fully grown, the Son of Kratos CAN and WILL be a powerhouse in and of his own right! After all, he already held his own during an actual Doomsday-class event!
@@stankobarabata2406 Still quite the powerhouse of a lineage! 😎 Even if it's just his parents alone!
I think Atreus also got some shapeshifting from Zeus
@@acuteoctogon9303 It's probably one of those recessive genes that likes to occasionally skip a generation or two.
Kratos inner monologue @ 4:00-4:26
"Okay... he's still my son. Oh my poor boy... dammit, hold it in man. Spartans don't cry. Fucking hold it in. Still I'm glad he's okay. Erm... it's getting awkward now. Gonna let go. Wait... he's not letting go. Why is he not letting go? Oh shit, what did he do?"
"A fuckup of not-insignificant proportions", as it were.
Kratos be like "what the fuck am i supposed to do"
One very subtle thing I love about the way Kratos speaks is that he doesn't shorten his words and that he speaks slowly. It may not be intentional but it feels like a person speaking in an unfamiliar language.
It’s called Laconic Speech. I just found out about it too. It’s how Spartans used to talk in Sparta. They use minimal words to get the point across. One of the squirrels talk this way too. And he likes it
ruclips.net/video/rHsShluUKs4/видео.html
From a literary perspective, writing his dialogue more laconically may be symbolic of his progression to being more "calm" and "reasonable".
@@blue_jorquera It's definitely a big improvement from "ZEUS!!!" "ARES!!!" "HRAAAAAAAH!!!"
Christopher Judge is very good at that. He uses it for T'elc (I hope I spelled that right) in Stargate SG1

Kratos made me realize that it is soo hard to change yourself for the better and also trying to prevent yourself from going back from your old ways.
i mean yeah, but we all do dumb and disrespectful things at that point in our life, even if we were taught lessons when young.
Nothing worth doing is ever easy. If it was, anyone could do it.
That opening moment; "My boy is growing up into a man."
Yeah it just warmed my heart
Again with this thing? I'm seriously getting angry people mention that

2:40 I can feel his Spartan Rage filling up at that moment, it's like the "only fire when I tell you to fire" all over again
its not rage its frustration
He's about to pull out the belt of chaos
He was actually way more chill in this game, it’s incredible how much he has gotten control of his anger when it comes to artreus
3:08 this is the scariest one
3:07 I swear to god, if I heard my dad calling to me like that, I'd be shitting my pants
He almost whipped out the belt of chaos

@@ethanandluinor6993 LMAO
"Press L3+R3 to use the belt of Sparta" @@Ibrahym0
With all due respect, this video should atleast be 22 hours long
03:06 That "BOY!" transcends reality and family because I was wondering what the fuck I had done to piss Kratos off.
Kratos was about to give Atreus the Belt of Chaos
I fell out of the chair when I heard it
I cannot get over any scene where Kratos is noticeably grimacing to hold back tears. this shit is cathartic, after playing the original god of wars I legit needed to see this character arc for Kratos
Dude, when I first played gow 2018 after beating ragnarock, I was like "who the fuck is this guy?!" And then I tried (as in my PC nearly died emulating the original gow) and saw a monster. I couldn't get past of the first bit because my PC is really bad, but all I saw was a killing machine. I'm so happy kratos is better!
That hug healed something inside of me
The "BOY" is so good, especially in that moment. Kratos had used that all previous game and grew past it by the end. That yell signified the true anger and disappointment a father would have at his son acting so recklessly. I think that was the only time he refers to Atreus as boy this whole game, no?
I wonder how will Kratos live, knowing he'll easily outlive everyone. He's the only immortal out of all the deities in the Norse mythos.
He's probably used to it
Chances are, Kratos would end up retiring at that point or move onto to somewhere else. I’m not sure if he’s actually Immortal, or just very, very, very hard to kill.
Literally cursed to walk the earth for all eternity so...
@@TheGary108 Definitely not immortal, given that Thor easily offed him in their first fight.
@@CornRecords972 Aye. Now Kratos has the chance to turn that curse into a blessing, if the ending says anything.
Yow Kratos smirking at the first clip is glorious af..
Freya: I would have beaten you
Kratos(knowing that he can destroy her without trying): Mm, perhaps
6:03 now imagine being the actor voicing kratos here
2:16 I love Kratos' reaction when Atreus told him that he was peeing, like he wasn't expecting that answer
Notice Kratos never beats up Atreus at any point
He kinda does when Atreus turns into that big ass bear.
@@jamahlali3881💀
@@jamahlali3881 was about to L3+R3 that bear
@@jamahlali3881 Didnt know it was him at first, second time he just restrained him.
They actually had a scene in the 2018 game where he does beat up Atreus but they cut it out
There is something amusing about hearing Kratos say snack
Every time I hear Kratos say he does not want a snack I immediately follow it up with "I am the snack" and I cry laugh.
"I dont need a snack.. im the fucking god of war"
If someone as intimidating as Kratos grabs me by the shoulders and roars at me "Master yourself," I would say "Sir, yes sir." and collect myself and be a man right then and there.
I love how Kratos tries to correct himself after he yells at Atreus and takes on a softer tone, like he's trying to be calmer and more understanding
Something I noticed about fake Tyr. When he talks to Kratos after Heimdall is killed, he talks about Odins' promise to make peace with Kratos. I don't think Kratos ever told Tyr about that promise.
4:00 for fucks sake im gonna cry at this scene to me i do feel the problem it is when a father doesn’t understand his son
I was an angry kid and am now 30. I once was on the side of not wanting a slower and more thoughtful and deeper Kratos, but after playing the new games i now understand completely and also had a realization. Alot of us who were younger when these games originally came out (such as myself) all grew up together as a generation. Perhaps like me younger people had more uncontrolled anger in them as alot of teenagers and younger adults do, which is why we related to his original games more. As we get older we become wiser and learn to think before we act, (at least most of us). Maybe I was the one who was angry and needed to slow down and mature, not just him. After figuring that out and accepting it I love those games! Kratos was one of my favorite characters growing up, and now seeing how hes changed as time has gone on and how myself has as well, really touched me. The entire theme of this series is personal growth IMO. At least thats how it speaks to me and I'm not even a father.
Kratos casually being the best video game character of all time
i still can't believe he can smile. i know it's sound mocking but we all know what kind of person he is back in the day. it's awesome
David: the part where Kratos saids “because all that matters is keeping you safe” he sounded a bit emotional.🥺
@2:54 it was at this moment that I very much realized that he’s taking the title of “Father‼️” wayyyyy more seriously than the “God of War” than I thought. The character development they gave him really reminds me of my dad only we both physically tried to kill each other once (i lost and my step mom saved my life) but we still love each other to Death at the end of the day and I’m grateful.
"we both physically tried to kill each other once"
Aight.
@@Resi1ience idk wtf type of proof you want but “Aight”
06:35 Kratos casually beating the shit out of thor. then tell him he doesn't want to beat him up anymore lol
Kratos resonates with me as a father trying to be better for his child while letting them become their own person. "...I am your monster no longer."
" *i* *do* *not* *need* *a* *snack* "

Im shocked Kratos didnt sprint after Atreus when he yelled "B O Y" before he went through the Fast travel door. Would've made it more intense with him turning around and seeing Kratos full sprinting towards him in anger.
A-Train moment
I think he didn't chase after him because he had a look of "please, Don't do this" even if you can't really see it, you can feel it. Y'know?
@@ethanandluinor6993 fair point. Its just a funny mental image I had ever since I played Ragnarök.

When he's drinking wine with atreus should have been included here
0:14 so kratos didn't listen atreus here that these wolves are girls 🤣 good boy
Every father needs to learn to let their children go out into the world and Kratos is a good example
Sindri: "Kratos?Snack?"
Kratos: "I'm a fucking God of War..."
2:22 I wonder how long Kratos was standing by that gate waiting for it to open.
Anyone else think kratos talks slow so his words hit harder?
Kratos reminds me so much of my father. Especially the way he said 'No'.
« And still, I follow! » Idk bout y’all but I felt it

hes no father anymore. hes a dad
Amazing how possibly the most powerful violent murderous being in the universe is a better father than I ever had.

funny how Odin is called The All-Father when he is such a deadbeat of a dad
2:55 is something I wish most dad's did follow even if they don't quite understand because they have trust in their son.

That was the scariest boy
The disappointed/annoyed sigh at "Tyr" is a mood.
True father against all father
Can’t believe the raged up murderous guy who killed an entire pantheon is now a role model. Talk about development.
The weird thing is that he's now a GOOD role model.

If Calliope sees her fathers change, she would be in heavy shocks
just a heads up Atreus is like 14 years old and he's capable of carrying a grown-ass deer that possibly weighs about 200 or more pounds i don't know any damn 14-year-old that can carry a grown-ass deer

I just realized something, who told freya his name was kratos? or brok and sindri? i don’t remember kratos telling them what his name was or atreus telling them? yet they just know his name.
I think him being the god of war, the ghost of sparta, the god-killer, he was kinda famous
3:33-Really?🤨

You know, going through the game. It's like Atreus didn't learn a thing from the first game.
Gonna have to disagree. He is a LOT better right now when compared to how he was in the first game.
You probably should play previous game again because atreus was a huge asshole and angry most of the game
@@rosaline7549 You're right, he was an obnoxious child who was reckless, dismissive of what Kratos would try to tell him in the first game and realized his mistakes when things went wrong. Now he's a slightly less obnoxious teenager who is now deceptive towards Kratos and still makes reckless decisions based on his emotions and only realizes his mistakes when things went wrong.
I'm not saying Atreus hasn't changed, i'm just saying the level of character develompent he's got is like CW's The Flash.
eg:
Joe: Barry don't do this because [wise set of words]
Barry: Ok Joe, I'll think about what you said. *runs off and does it anyways and things go wrong*
Barry: Joe i messed up, i should have listened to you.
Joe: Hm. You don't say.
Uh yes, Tyr.... good old Odin did Brock dirty then
idonotneedasnack
How come hes not cold
This gy why they keep doing norse mythology he should have went babylonian
i just thought of something since it seems kratos cant truly die: is his curse like biblical cain?
No. Kratos can't die by his own hands(that's how he survived the end of "God of War III", but he can die by the hands of others. Odinson literally kills him in their first fight.
The thing is, since he can't kill himself and there's no one powerful enough to kill Kratos, he won't ever die.
