I’m planning to get a MacBook Air m1. I currently use the iPad Air 5th gen for school but I’m tired of touch screen and I don’t quite like the interface for google docs and slides on iPad lol. I may as well just use it for note taking in the future.
I got mine about a month ago, and I gotta say, I 100% recommend it. Don't bother getting an M2 or later, trust me, this one is just enough for 90% of users. EDIT: this comment is outdated. the M1 air should be perfectly fine for most users, but if you can, try going with a refurbished M2 Pro or M1 Pro, which can go for the same price as new M2s.
Working on an m1 air for years now, basic office work + some apps that helps collabiration (huge miro boards) it is perfect. Video editing and software developments are not the only job that requires a computer.
I'm a software developer and the base M1 Mac has been fine for developing software. Sure I have maybe 4Gb swap maximum, but every computer uses swap. On windows it's called paging file. Linux even uses swap. People blew this whole ram thing out of proportion.
@Johnny91832 if the SSD dies in your lifetime, I will be surprised. Windows computers put their SSDs through a much harder read/write cycle and are fine for a long time.
8GB ram is plenty for up to moderate workloads in lightroom/photoshop in my experience! crazy seeing as the same workload eats 20GB+ from my desktop. apple silicone is impressive
I’ve had the air m1 16gb ram for 3 years now…and I’m upgrading to the pro m2 32gb ram. The air just doesn’t support my workflow anymore but it’s been an amazing machine for what I need it before.
My maths teacher uses the full Apple Ecosystem. He even gives us class on his iPad, and he likes the 13 inch MacBook Pro a lot. It was actually nice for Apple to make a MacBook that still had the touchbar.
I rarely have had any issues with mine using multiple illustrator files open with multiple art boards, photoshop with a file or two open, safari with over 120 tabs open, plus mail, notes, snd finder open. The only time I’ve had a problem is when doing that plus after effects or blender on. So for video, motion or 3d you definitely want something better, but I usually do 2d design.
I have 256gb on my macbook and I desperately need more storage. 512gb-1tb would probably be fine for me. I do a lot of photoshop and after effects stuff so the storage fills quick.

You’re gonna love it 😊 Good luck at uni!
is the macbook m1 still worth to buy at the end of 2023? i plan to buy it next week for administrative work and basic internet only
Yes it’ll be perfect for that :)
So would you recommend NOT getting it to do videos for youtube content that has a minimum 720p to 4K video resolution for videos that would be a minimum 15mins after editing at say 720-1080p ??
I recommend it for light-medium video editing. Just use my videos as an example. I’ve been fine for the most part but things did start to slow down a little while finishing editing for my last long video.
Will it be good enough for programming
@@royorange9691 Should be ;)
I love it. I use it to watch netflix and youtube only sometimes for anydesk

Coming from a 2015 MacBook Air user, would you recommend upgrading to a m1 MacBook Air??
Absolutely. It’s leaps and bounds ahead of any MacBook Air or most MacBooks in general that came before it :)
I had mine since April this year. Thinking of swapping to 16" MBP 2019/2020 core i7 16gb RAM, 512GB. Good decision?
No probably not, the M1 Air is better in almost every regard besides storage and memory
i am confused between pro m1 and air m1 can u help me
There is very little difference but…
The pro has a touchbar instead of function keys
The pro has a fan
The pro is slightly faster, very slightly
And that’s pretty much it
Do you think that mac book air m1 is a good option for digital marketing, freelancing and some basic coding?
absolutely bro, especially for some coding as I've heard its a popular option for that. Sounds like the perfect machine for you :)
@@hardwired2Thanks a lot
Is mac air m1 worth it for 2024?
@@anggisaputraal-ghofiky I’d say yes if you’re a student/casual user (you don’t intend on doing anything too strenuous) and if you can find it for a really decent price, like $700 or less.
My use case is just watching online lectures
So should i buy air m1 for 799$ or go for 400$ window my only use is just classes i3 11th gen
I mean if you’re literally just doing that, go with the windows machine. But if you think you’re gonna want to do anything that requires a little more power, but the Mac 👍
@hardwired2 ya i bought laptop today
8gb ram 256 gb storage
I3 11th gen with many ports like 4-5 and a RJ 45 too ,i got xbox game pass too with it
Its surprisingly fast
And with student id i got it for 380$
Its name is Acer aspire
@GauravSharma-nb5yy nice bro hope you enjoy it :)
How does it do with screen recording? Im planning to get one for my youtube channel where i just need to record my screen and do some light video editing.
Yes you’re able to record your screen and additionally choose which part of the screen you want to record. And it should be just fine for lighter video editing, but I’m personally beginning to try some more advanced stuff so I may be upgrading soon ☺️
Ja i use a time capsule router with an external hd for time machine.
For video editing..is the 8gb variant good??
@@Utkarsh.233 I mean, that’s what I’ve used for all my videos so far, and it never struggled that much :)
@@hardwired2 but for future proof and also heavy software like ae require at least 16gb
@Utkarsh.233 yes, if you’re like me and plan on doing lots of video editing/pushing your machine to its limits, this laptop isn’t gonna work forever. But if you’re just starting out bro, I think it’s still a great option!
How do download tiktok and Instagram on it?
@@OliviaDoreen You can just go to their respective websites as there’s no option to download an app.
@@hardwired2 Thank you
How is MacBook Air M1 for coding related purpose or programming in different C++ or Java ????
It’s a very highly recommended machine for coding/programming from everything I’ve heard
Oh just to let you know if you can’t afford on your new MacBook to put like 5TB storage or like any kind of storage amount on Apple website or their shop they have a 5TB storage card for only $175
Why m1 camera is so blur
720p. Really not the greatest quality. Most laptops, even those with a 1080p webcam, are still gonna look a bit grainy, no matter the lighting.
