Hi Eric I just picked up my M1 at Best Buy. I decided on the M1 due to a great sale s/b a great up grade for me as I am coming from a mid 2012 MacBook Air. Thanks for you set up video.
I got it yesterday. Absolutely fantastic machine. Speedy, no fan AT ALL. No intense heating up. Runs everything, from old apps, to optimized, to iOS iPad apps, just spectacular. They really weren’t joking about the instant on feature when opening it up. I used to think the old MBP was fast. Not even remotely in comparison. No hiccups using my Apple Watch to unlock it as with the older MacBook with intel. Everything is just so streamlined now and I love it. Apple sheep for life. Don’t even care. Life is simpler with them.

The startup chime is seriously underrated. One of the things I'm interested in seeing is how support for third party operating systems will turn out in the future. One of the things I love about the Intel Macs is, that I can of course run the Mac operating system, and just about any other OS I want either by VM, or even natively. Both Linux and windows has ARM support already so would like to see where that goes. I've thought about building my own computer for the third party operating systems, however using a mac for this has the nice advantage of running mac os natively without modifications, and windows and Linux also run as long as the right drivers are available. So it's a win win situation. I of course run macOS on my macs, just saying having the option to change the OS is nice.

Great review, a quick question, did anyone purchase Apple care for the Macbook Air M1? Typically, we do not purchase Apple care for our apple products and just curious, if others did for their MacBook laptop(s).
It really needs to be pointed out, as some reviewers do, that this is pretty amazing, considering that it’s just 8GB RAM, which pretty much everyone agrees these days is just good for very basic computing. Apple has changed that.

ive had a couple of macbooks in the past. This laptop is heavier, lacks ports, if you are charging it youre left with just one usb-c port. The ports are close together so some things wont plug in easily. Many people have complained about bad smells, there is no choice of a 11inch version. Macbooks still wont properly work with NTFS disk drives. You have little control on when it turns off and on, its also nearly impossible to tell if it is turned on or not if you have a dark screen. When it was launched certain apps didnt run well or not at all (OBS, bluestacks). Plus points the screen is gorgeous to look at, good battery life, monterey is a great OS, fast video editing, good webcam, silent running.
Great video. Thanks for your efforts. One question regarding speaker volume. I have an older macbook pro and at times, wish the volume was louder. You mentioned a reference to the macbook pro in this regard and that there are some issues with this Macbook air M1 at higher volumes. As my macbook is several (many) years older, I was hoping things would have changed and that this unit would provide better volume. Any thoughts or should I try to go see one in person to test it before ordering?

ive had a couple of macbooks in the past.
The one I have been waiting for.
This channel always my go to
I was waiting for this unboxing by you.
Thank you. It would have gone live last night but then Apple released an update
Picking mine up at the apple store at South Park mall today :)
Very nice.
I was setting my MacBook Air 2020, and It told me to click option > control > shift > down key and now I’m stuck 😭😭
Could you please show us if the Windows apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are functioning normally?
As usual, thanks for the video :)
Base model is all youuuuuu realllyyy neeeeeed
If it heats up does it lower the brightness on its own that you cant control like on iphone?
17:00 if at the time of buying a macbook air with M1 i start it (as if it were the first one, already having a previous one) but without using time machine, will all my data that is shared through icloud appear?
You give a truly professional presentation. Spoken well. Very clear and concise . Thanks!
