Presenting you with my last part of Kinnaur Spiti Road Trip. Manali to Kaza via Kunzum La Pass.
Kaza to Manali was one of the favorite stretch from my Spiti Road Trip. We started early morning from Kaza and it took us almost 7- 8 hours to reach Manali. The total distance from Kaza to Manali is around 200 Km, but the roads are not good. After crossing Kyato, the roads started to deteriorate and only after crossing Gramphu we found smooth road. But the journey is worth. On the way we crossed Chicham bridge, world's highest bridge from sea level at 4,037 m (or 13,244 ft). There after we crossed few small villages like Kyato, Losar. After crossing Losar police check post we started our climb to the mighty Kunzum La Pass. Kunzum La or Kunzum Pass is at an altitude of 4,590 m (or 15,059 ft). The feeling of being there is so awesome, extreme cold, windy. There's also a temple Kunzum Devi Temple. The roads are very narrow. You will see some of my deadly experience in the video. All I could say is drive cautiously guys.
After Kunzum La Pass, we reached Batal. Nothing much to talk about Batal, just few dabha, but thank god they are there. From Batal, Chandertal Lake is around 15 Km, but that's a different road and unfortunately was closed.
After Batal, the drive was very adventurous till Gramphu. This stretch of road is only meant for trucks and SUV. Soon we crossed Gramphu and reached Rohtang Pass. Rohtang La or Rohtang Pass is at an altitude of 3,978 m (of 13, 051 ft). I would say Rohtang is a tough climb, one of the most dangerous passes. Especially, when you are descending towards Manali, the curves are narrow and sharp. Soon we reached Manali and our Spiti road trip was over. But much more to come after this.

As you approach Chicham, I noticed on the narrow road which has a sheer drop on one side, there is not a soul in sight . All alone, you have brilliantly captured the rugged beauty of this isolated and forbidding terrain. I salute your courage, and thank you for all your beautiful videos which gives people who never venture out, to see the majesty of the Himalayan mountain ranges.

The terrain passes through a road that is prone to landslides, passing off road terrain, stretch of snow and even river flow, really the scenery is very very beautiful... like its.
We have just completed our tour of chamba Mandi aut banzar aani sainz rampur jeuri rekongpeo kalpa nako kaza kunzum pass rohtang pass Manali and finally went to chamba home town on 24 to 28 July 2019

I did this trip in my diesel Ciaz in last week of 3rd week of May '18. Kaza to Gramphu was just opened two days back before we started. Snow at Kunzum top and Rohtang was much higher and absolutely fresh. It had snowed just a day before.

Were you a solo traveler ? Or you had a company of a friend ? Is your Scorpio 4x4 or rear drive ? I drove the same route in 2015 in my Bolero and felt the need of 4x4 in some places between Chandratal and Grampoo. Have you installed any after market metal engine sump guard as I have met many off roaders who prefer to have it installed. Your videos are addictive and feel like watching again and again. I have lots of video footage but editing is always a painstaking. May your good work continue.

Hi Manobita, we did this journey in May 2018. Chandartal was on our list. But unfortunately, the road wasnt open and people advised us not to go that road. June / July will be perfect for Spiti. Good luck!

Its not chenab in Himachal, its chandra and from kylong side bhaga river come in Tandi its become chandrbhaga. When it enters J&K then it become chenab

You will find snow from October till April. However, this route Kaza to Manali is closed during winters due to heavy snowfall at Kunzum La. You will have to take Shimla to Kaza route and return via same. You need 4X4 and all terrain tires for this journey in winters. Good luck

Показать его все уголки, достопримечательности, показать отели, их стоимость, основные кафе или закусочные. Показать его бедный кварталы, дома богатых людей. Может там есть дома знаменитостей. И, вообще всё Манали- от сих.. до сих. Сверху, снизу, вдоль и поперек. Это получится wow- видео.

May 2018. Kunzum La opens in May usually. So best time to cross Kunzum La is May

I would say it would take around 6 hours with no traffic. I reached manali in around 6 hours..but due to Rohtang traffic..it took me 3 hours more to reach my hotel which was only 25 kms away :)

Thank you very much Jaya. It depends how and where are you traveling to. Shimla to Kaza there will be no issues. But Kaza to Manali, you might, because of Kunzum La pass, where snowfall is a bit unpredictable. But chances are rare. The main difficult part will be the temperature..It will be freezing especially at night. So be prepared. Good luck! Dont forget to subscribe :)

I want to go solo with my self drive swift vdi car. Kalpa, kaza,keylong, leh, turtuk, nubra Valley, pengon lake kargil, Srinagar jammu.
Which time will be the best clear and dry road condition?
I would not recommend swift for such a long journey and that too solo irrespective of road conditions. Please go in groups, its for your safety
