shannon sharpe said it on his own show. "i was good. im in the hall of fame. im not in the same category reggie white, deion, LT etc." eli will get in. he was qb of the team the beat the greatest team ever, TWICE!!!!
He’s not a first ballot HOFer especially compared to his peers who recently retired who all have stronger HOF resumes. He’s in the category of eventual HOF but not first ballot HOF. I’m sure I’ll get shredded for that take, but we need to differentiate between slam dunk first ballot HOF and eventual/someday HOF
Totally agree, we aren't putting Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson in if they win two. Nothing against Eli but mediocre QB who happened to get hot twice in 20 years doesn't make you a hall of famer.
@@mcleanse1382 if Johnson and Dilfer had a memorable plays in their Super Bowl. We’d look at them differently. To prove my point, what is the first play you would remember in each SB. The most memorable play in each SB. Dilfer- It would be the opening kickoff by Ron Dixon. As for Johnson- It would be one of the Bucs pick-6. As for Manning- It would be his two incredible throws in his GW drives
@@JohnSmith-tk7nt That’s not the case, outside of maybe 2 years (03/04 season/ 10/11 season) Eli Manning’s 2011-12 SB run was better than any of his brother’s postseason run. To also prove about bigger moments, name me the best moment in each of Peyton’s SB compared to Eli’s two big throws in his SB.
It's called the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Statistical Dominance. Eli's two Superbowl wins are iconic. Especially upending the unbeaten Patriots. He's a Hall of Famer, just not 1st ballot.
I'm not sure first ballot, but a Hall of Famer. Two of the greatest throws in the sport's history, a part of arguably the best play in the sport's history, and when he retired, he was top ten in several major passing stats. He's also the statistical leader in a historical franchise like the Giants and a two-time SB MVP. Personally, I think QBs get too much credit and too much blame in team success, including SBs. However, since it seems like SB or bust is how a lot of people view QBs, in this case, Eli is in the former category than the latter.
With only 15 Modern-Era candidates and two Senior nominees each year lets make sure we dont forget some previous deserving players...... Put Joe Jacoby before Eli !! Theres not as many Offensive Lineman as great at Tackle as Joe. Eli will get in eventually, but BIg Joe deserves it NOW !
He beat the Unbeaten Patriots in one of the greatest games, makes amazing plays, one year after his brother won his first Super Bowl. Then beats another dominant Patriots team a few years later. Those two Super Bowl wins are iconic and more than enough to be first ballot HOF. Especially when there’s other players there that never won a championship, let alone against one of the greatest football teams to play.
Eli is not a hall of famer. He belongs in the hall of fame, because you can’t tell the story of the NFL without him. But he was not a hall of fame player. The 8 playoff games on their own do not get him there.
Time to post my favorite stat again: Peyton, regular season passer rating: 96.5 Peyton, playoff passer rating: 87.4 Eli, regular season passer rating: 84.1 Eli, playoff passer rating: 87.4
The NFL is entertainment. Each season has many stories, and stories get remembered. Eli was the driver of one of the greatest stories, and greatest plays, in NFL history. People will remember the helmet catch more they remember half of Brady's Super-Bowls. The 2007 team was the ultimate Cinderella team. Barely got into the playoffs, and had a memorable game against the 15-0 Patriots, almost serving them their first loss of the year. In the playoffs they beat the Cowboys, a team who had already beat them twice that season. Then in the NFC championship game, they went to Green Bay, who had never lost a championship game at Lambeau. And they beat them. Finally they played an undefeated team, and beat them. For that run alone, Eli should be in the Hall. Then in 2011, he did it again. He never got hurt, was always positive, and made receivers better than they were. Maybe not a First ballot guy, but certainly not a 1st floor HOF.
This is the NY area media at work. If Eli played somewhere in the middle of the country and had the same stats, he would not even be talked about here. Everyone tries to forget that Eli was benched a couple times because his play was so poor. HOFers don't get benched! These guys act like he won the Superbowls all by himself.
I wasn't a Eli Manning fan when he was a player in the NFL and he isn't a 1st ballot hall of famer but he will get in as a 2nd or 3rd ballot because of his last name, he played in NYC the media capital of the world and his Giants team beat the Patriots twice in the Super Bowl
If Joe Namath is in the hall of fame then Eli Manning should be in . Namath Through more interceptions than touchdowns and 1 only 1 Super Bowl. Eli is first ballot.
3:30 Eli wasn’t elite in those Super Bowl runs. He has a few (at most) “good” plays/maybe drives throughout both postseasons. Joe Flacco was actually elite in his Super Bowl run with the Ravens. I don’t think Flacco is a HOF
I don't think he's a first ballot HOFer. I do think he is a HOFer. That said he may get first ballot anyway, let's stop pretending the HOF is about stats. There are far too many members for that story to still be sold. But imo first ballot means there is absolutely no question and frankly with him...he's just not in that category. I'm a Giants fan.
1. Kurt Warner was a 3rd ballot HOFer. 2. Kurt owns over 10 NFL records (still) 3. Kurt took 2 different teams to the Super Bowl 4. Kurt wins 2 of 3 Super Bowls if the Wide Receiver runs the right route. 5. Kurt was an Arena League legend.
No he's not based on his stats. 2 SB wins with average numbers, he doesn't deserve to be in. Should Trent Dilfer or. Flacco be because they won a SB? 🤷
Giants fans hold on to history more than any other team. Is he worthy of HoF. No. But they let in far lesser talent. The HoF is no better than the R&R HoF.

He’ll eventually get in, but it shouldn’t be this year. The two SB runs will always be part of NFL lore, but he was the definition of league average throughout his career (literally, he finished with a 117-117 record). Only ever led the league in interceptions, which he did three times. Only 6 postseason appearances in 16 seasons and 0 playoff wins outside of the two SB years.
Jim Plunkett won two SBs, but not in the HOF.
2 time SB mvp and his playoff stats are sick
Eli Manning is not a first ballot hall of famer and it’s insane that we are having this discussion.
Yes, he is, he won two superbowls against the greatest dynasty in NFL history. Your the one be a little emotional brat get over yourself.
There needs to be a "Backup" Wing of the Pro Football HOF for Players Like Eli Manning.

Was Montana first ballot?
HOW can Joe Montana not have been a first ballot hall of famer? 2nd GOAT.
Why didn't you ask eli when he was on the show
The fact that we're even having this question proves hes not lol
