In #6, you can actully add tracks to a new group, vca or fx channel in the Add track-> menu
Yeah I can't believe I never noticed before. I assumed it would be on the first menu like in the MixConsole. Whoops

100 % agreed. I would add a proper pattern editor. Studio One and FL are lightyears ahead and Groove agent isn't user friendly at all. I would be happy with something like a revamped augmented version of the beat designer plugin which is just not enough but could be a good basis.
Some good suggestions, I would love to see multiple automation takes, all they have to do is add it to track versions
I'm surprised there's no gapless playback in your list. It's super annoying that the audio stops for a second when inserting new plugins.

Really good suggestions. Cubase should hire you.... but my top request which is so practical for users editing multi-tracked drums is the Multi-Track audio Free Warp. This feature is sorely needed... many, many sessions I have done could of used this feature.... The ability to put all your drum tracks into a folder, select the multi-edit button, and then be able to free warp 1 track and all the other drum tracks follow.... that is a feature I would pay for.

@@joeybaronstudio Yes, but I'm talking about using the free warp tool in a folder. You cannot use the free warp tool in a folder with the multi-edit button selected....
I would like to see blend knob on each fx channel. that way you can blender dry and wetness without having to go into the fx. and change it. mapping midi knobs to wet and dry knobs would be dope too!
Nice list, definitely some on there I'd like to see too! Around 14:39 - with the Group tracks you can actually group selected channels from the main window. Its under the "Add Track" menu when you right-click. Add Track > Group Channel to selected Channels. Same for FX too.
Move mixer channels freely in the mixer, not having to go to the main page to change the order.

I know I'm a little late. But for me the most important feature is rendering the audio into the video file. While that was made possible in 10.5, you can only export the audio in 16 Bit and otherwise there is no other control over it. No Bitrate setting for the video, no render options and no possibility to render in 48 khz or 24 Bit. When scoring to picture. Who needs 16 Bit?!

I like your list, especially the ability to split and route the signals and recombine them. reaper has always had an edge in their DAW because of this feature. I would like to see a Drum Replacement tool.
Great video. I’m especially interested in improved modulation sources that can be routed to anything in the DAW including 3rd party plugins.
The MIDI inserts are so dated & clunky to set up.
I’d like to see the quick controls updated to be more like ableton macro knobs so they can be assigned to multiple parameters.
Also it’s be nice to be able to select an external wave editor instead of it being hard coded to wavelab. I have wavelab but it would be nice to be able to use RX8 as my external editor instead

I would also like to see some sort of tagging system in the Media Bay.
1. Bouncing or freezing tracks from the mixer (right click submenu) like ‘commit’ in ProTools, include click track.
2. A function to do easily stems, none of the DAWs in the market have developed something in order to do easily stems, specialty after the mix is done.
3. The backup files should be saved in a separated folder. Bounces too.
It is a good starter list. Here are some features from Studio One. 1. Have a mastering project when you create a song and can add any song to that mastering project. If you make changes to the song it will update the project. This would be connected to any version of Wavelab (BTW Wavelab should do timeline-based plugin automation maybe like IK Multimedia Lurssen Mastering). 2. Clip gain envelopes. Stop slicing your vocal to get the clip volumes closer to the final desired amplitude up or down before mixing. Simply draw it 3. Scratchpads. I am not sure that the implementation in Studio One is the best it can be. I just want a place to lay down ideas that I can pull into any session easily. I don't want to make a full song for each idea or riff

Would really like to see some improvements with plugin scanning. Takes forever to start up Cubase because it is always scanning pluggins on start up. Why can't Cubase start first and run plugin scanning in the back ground like many other DAWs. LIke you say, I would really really like to see plugin sand boxing as well. Tired of plugin crashes taking down the whole session.
realy simple moves and time saver's like ,Delete all plugins at once, Rename midi clips & audio clips inside the sequencer The silence gab at loading plugins show the complete midi data in the editor down below the sequencer not only the midi block you select load samples from the desktop to your project and groove agent etc not only loaduing it from the media library
+ #16 Track delay on individual articulations in expression maps 😁
I really love if we can use whatever eq (all the includes inside cubase) in the EQ module on the channel strip, just like the compressors, saturations, tools and limit blocks. And just imagine Frequency becomes a dynamic EQ with sidechain and EQ spectral comparison mode, inside your channel strip?

One thing I can't seem to find in Cubase ( I use 7.5 and 10. 5 )
I would really like to be able to set a new / seperate clock timer window that started from.any Left Locator ....for example ..I recently had a project of movie cues I was mixing ...10 consecutive cues in the one project window . The client cones back and wants changes made at 1min13sec in Cue#5...which starts at 6min51sec in the project window. So right now I have to go to 8min 04sec ... but with a separate clock it would be easier to find that section.
Does such a feature exist already ?

Dude, some of these are what everyone has wanted but Steinberg has ignored for years!! I'll be impressed if they get any one of these done by Cubase 15, let alone 11. I literally stopped buying upgrades because they seem to be just adding more unfinished features so they can try and sell it as a 'new' product, rather than making real and long requested improvements. The snapshot is prime example, a great idea, that doesn't work if you use automation, which renders it pretty useless. I'm not interested in paying for updates that sound good on paper, want real improvements.

My ddition is: An interactive cursor. For ex. If I come over a note with the cursor, it should change to "move note" sign like in FL. I should also easily delete notes on the piano roll with right click or double click.
If I move the cursor in different project windows, this window should be activated as working window an my shortcuts should apply to this project window.

You can add a shortcut for Group selected tracks, I have "F13" for that purpose.
The #11 complaint about losing side chain input applies to when you Render Tracks in place too.
Can anyone help? I'm having a text/font scaling issue in 10.5.12... the text doesn't follow zooming in and out in the mixer window... When I toggle the text gets too big to fit in the individual channels and is running off... What gpu works best with cubase? Thanks!

Haha, yes you can. Wow I can't believe I missed that. I've added tracks to the project in the arranger view many times, but never realized when you highlight tracks there's the added "group selected tracks" feature. I retract my request. Lol

There's a single thing every cubase user misses above all: unlimited undo's on everything! the rest, I can deal with :-)
Really really needs something like the grid from bitwig, or patcher from fl studio, cubase feels lacking these days, cubase feels like it's going down the movie score and video editing route, this is why this is the last upgrade I'm buying, I've already got licenses for bitwig and fl studio, I've used Cubase since sx3 days seems a shame to jump ship but enough is enough
It's really not made for that genre, neither is PT. No one says you have to own only one DAW. Right tools for the job...
I think you should go more on shortcuts than using your mouse really good ;-)
I'm pretty sure the FX splitting has been in REAPER since version 3. REAPER has crazy routing. It gas hybrid tracks also, all tracks are hybrid. Just don't like the user interface that much Cubase and DP suit me more. I think I prefer DP's user interface the most and Quickscribe is nice. Clips are in DP now too. DP falls down on its browser compared to Cubase and Live etc. Studio One 5's new features particular the score editing looks very interesting. Key commands are easier to use and find in DP too.
These FX send channel mono dual mono / stereo parallel compression reverb delay etc panning L R in cubase, this function need a good smooth update!!what a mess in cubase at this function!!
I just want it to work. If they don't solve the multicore CPU issue, it's probably bye bye Steinberg. Also full MPE implementation would be great. Of the suggestions in the clip, nr 6 would be my nr 1.
i think you have to buy Bitwig and Studio One.
I would like to see a project page in Cubase for mastering much like the project page in Studio One but I don’t think Steinberg would add this because they want you to buy the Wavelab program!

*in studio one i can play with virtual midi piano keyboard with vst instrument and record the track on cubase only some times .. cant play with midi editor its small for why *we can't press double click on the midi editor to launch multi touch piano on screens to record from any where with out external midi device
i dont know why when i launch the software its open two window ?? i dont think these other window helpfull for us
my projects all in cubase and i prefer it to any other DAWS .. but studio one its very comfortable and faster than cubase i used with some small projects

Great list, here is mine:
1a. performance with 10.5 is ruined compared to 10 (on macOS mojave and catalina), so most important to fix this
1b. sandbox for VST plugins so they don't crash or lag the system
1c. gapless audio engine
2a. finished UI, some UI elements approx. 10% is old and unfinished , blurry and eat lot of space for nothing
2b. can we build or use third party midi efx in 2020?
3. why VST and EFX in media? I need separate tabs for that and my custom tabs (minor one)
4. more integration with lower zone, efx, midi efx and generic macro controls
5. chunks (DP)
6. instrument combinator (s1)
7. smarter dynamic toolbox, show action for event only
8. artist version need bounce in place and group editing, its cheating without that
9. auto-zoom midi event in lower zone
10. remove all in channel strip or efx rack
11. option to select active track from dropdown list in strip channel
12. better eq in chan strip and controls, now is confusing and clumsy
13. dynameter in mixer
14. mixer follow folder tracks organisation (expand/collapse)

Easier mapping could be good as well as request.
Makes you wonder if they know all this but are saving it for future updates. I say this because they seem obvious.
Cubase can send LFO's to all instruments that receive MIDI via the MIDI tab in the inspector. Use the Auto LFO module. Sadly it cannot do it naively for effects.
Cubase needs macro knobs or the quick controls to be updated to affect multiple parameters with varying amounts. Globally assignable modulation sources would be nice but after this long I’m not holding my breath.
I'm going to have to try bitwig. I'm getting pretty tired of the instability of Cubase. Even though I've used it for years. Maybe I'll just stick with Cubase for TV and film scoring stuff. Cubase used to be rock solid.
Hmm, my experience has more of the reverse. The most recent versions have been rock solid, whereas years before there would be audio glitches or bugs when a new release came out, only to be patched in the first or second patch release. But the audio engine overall has been improved.
In my experience when cubase crashes, its most likely a problem with third party plugins. Very very few crashes in recent years that I can attribute to cubase own functionality
A m6/9 Bummer! I'm on Mac. Don't know if that's it. But I have a terrible memory leak. Within 2 hours of starting Cubase 10.5 it eats up 28gigs of memory. I have 32gigs on my iMac. I eventually get error messages saying the system is out of application memory. Once I close and reopen Cubase the memory goes down. I'm working on a project file with a very small amount of tracks going on. I've seen other comments about the same problem on the forms. First time in a while I'm going to have to contact Steinberg to see what the problem is. And if there's a fix. Until that for larger projects I have to use Cubase 10.
I also have Windows that come up completely garbled and have to close and reopen them. I also have only half of a window that shows up in the mix down window. In generic remotes when I change a setting it doesn't actually change until I click out and then click back in. Buggy things like that. Crashing can maybe be attributed to third party plugins, but it's way worse in 10.5. That's why my number one request is for the plug-in sandbox.
I can deal with minor bugs but the memory leak makes it very hard to work
The grouping of channels not being displayed and synced the same way in the mixer console baffles my mind. You can do it in Ableton and it makes it so much easier to navigate and have a better overview and also I find it would simplify the process instead of making the current mixers powerful but not easy to navigate. There are basic things that Cubase is missing that it is really hard for me to justify future updates. I am not going to until they get those done. Gonna stay at 10 till then.
it would be nice to have option to ,,send folder track to a new bus,, and always on top main mixer....routing in cubase is a nightmare compared to studio one...regards

hey kevin! don't you think cubase artist or elements shouldn'tve track limitations? They are the paid versions. No DAW in the market has track limitations at all even the basic versions. What you say,should steinberg consider this aspect?
That's not true. Pro Tools, Ableton, & Bitwig all have paid introduction versions with track limitations to 8 or 16 tracks. For only $150 you can get Elements with 48 MIDI tracks, 32 Audio, 16 VST tracks, etc. That's pretty good for the price and easily comparable to what's on the market.
Cubase Artist is a much more expensive and professional bundled product, but obviously with limitations, but it has quite a large limit size. 128 MIDI, 64 Audio, 32 VST tracks, 32 Ins/Outs. I don't think I've ever hit those limits in my day to day use of Cubase, so I don't see them as a limiting factor, even for serious musicians/engineers. And if that limit is troublesome, the Pro version is an all around more complete DAW anyways, so the extra cost is a good investment.
@@VintiqueSound Yes agreed with you for intro versions. But higher versions shouldn't have track limitations. only 32 VST track in cubase artist. I'm a EDM producer. I work in layers and i really feel suffocated with the limit. plus I spent a lot money for gears, acoustics and all. now really can not afford the pro version.

A drummer and compressor like Logic’s
Cubase has a beautiful GUI and superb sound rendering.
One thing I cannot understand, in such evolution the software has been through, is the childish support for Midi Controllers
In order to configure my midi controllers, I have to go through countless menu's and settings to set my controller to control the mixer and track selections. and even if I create / save / and load a midi map, it will only work if I have the relevant tracks in the song / arrangement active. also the maps are extremely unstable and 9 out of 10 wont work unless you re-configure them, killing your creative workflow!
If one considers other Daws, like Ableton or even Studio One from Presonus, they all have a 'move the button on the controller and select the button of the daw' feature to control any feature of the software that is saved within the song file.
Is Steinberg ever going to implement this easy to use feature?
It seems silly that in such an advanced workstation like today's version 10.5, you still have to use a complex program language with multiple unclear menu selections to setup your midi controller that 9 out of 10 refuses the function properly and is lost if not saved, meaning you have to configure it all over again...
PLEASE STEINBERG PUT SLIDE NOTES LIKE FRUITY LOOPS IN SAMPLER TRACK!!!!!

Dorico SE is free, I'm not sure if that will do what you describe. I'm not familiar with Dorico or the notation features in Cubase.

Why don’t you just select the channel in the arrangement window and control the volume on the top left hand side along with panning.
The main thing I‘m waiting for in Cubase is SOFTWARE LICENSING!!! I don‘t want a damn usb-licenser in 2020 !!! Give this a thumbs up if you feel the same!
they wont do it. U can crack every daw for now. The only programm you cant crack are the cubase versions with the dongle.
I don't mind for my custom PC full of usb's slots, works fine. But we want some solution for mobile daws, i tried usb hub and sucks. Regarding to cracks, why anybody want's to use buggy cracked daw with risk of malware? Safe and stable software is best protection.
@it'sLue that‘s not true! I have already had a cracked version of a dongle protected Cubase many years ago!
But as Marko said, I don’t want to deal with that crap anymore.
In the meanwhile I contacted the Steinberg Support and they told me that they‘re working on a Software licensing solution already. They said it might won‘t happen in the next release, but it WILL happen!

Yeah 10.5 has been rock solid for me. Probably the most stable release I've used, and without the need of an immediate patch release to fix nasty bugs
12: Render / Stem active tracks with data!!! 13: Mackie Control fader banks get highlighted in the mix console, But changing the focus to certain tracks takes a while!!! Both of these are problems for composers with thousands of tracks for huge sample libraries. Steinberg, go actually sit with professional composers.
14: "Show faders for track with data only" in the mix console.

...1 more thing...you mention consistency, or the lack there of a lot. It only takes a look at the GUI to understand that consistency is not a priority. The whole interface got a style upgrade as far as I remember in version 7, there are still windows now in version 10, that haven't seen the matching style upgrade in several years, windows that actually look the same as they did in SX3. I'm not saying this is top priority to fix, but can't help think it speaks volumes to lack of attention to detail, consistency, and finishing the job they set out to do. I love Cubase and feel bit whiny saying all this, but this isn't a cheap product and this is a multi million dollar company, would be nice to see the effort going in to completion of concepts.

I'd ask for more user friendliness. Yesterday I favourited a sample folder location and it didn't show it when you open media bay, what's the point in making favourite if it doesn't show when you open media bay, so in order to find the favourites now you have to waste hours on manuals when you could make it simple to use and the manuals suck frankly.
Then I'd ask for a more hands on approach when editing samples in main project window, as of now there is no convenient way to match drum samples with pitch shifting without transpose timestretching, even tramspose goes from 1 to 2 which is too steep, it should go 1, 1.2, 1.3 if you want it.
For this you have to use groove agent and even that is limited, the pitch amount wasn't sufficient the last time I used it and has anyone figured out how to use the fx on that? Just saying, it's absolutely hideous..
Things like this should be the fundamental of every daw.
Then there is the hanging/freezing of almost every session where you have to force close it. At least tell me what caused it to crash.
They keep updating the wrong stuff that almost no one cares apart from automation curves, that was a great addition.
