    I think the golden benchmark in terms of Retrospective Recording, is Ableton's Capture feature. So I have a few questions about Retrospective Record in Cubase 10.5. (1.) Do you need to be in playback mode in order for notes to be captured, or can you just jam away in stopped mode and then place cursor somewhere to have that part inserted there? (2.) Is it intelligent enough to recognize the tempo from your captured recording and set the global tempo according to that, like Ableton's Capture? (3.) How does it insert your buffer; does the inserted clip start from the very beginning of your buffer, or (like Capture in Ableton) somehow intelligently manages to insert a clip starting from the last bar(s), in which you can decide wether you want more of the earlier stuff and then stretch the captured clip's start by dragging it to the left. (Hard to describe that last one, but, how close to Ableton's Capture does it get, is what I'm wondering.)

    Hello, I have a problem and I would like to ask you, I am working with cubase 10.5, in Windows 10, and I have noticed that within my project, I name each track, with the shift + enter key, so far so good, my problem is that when saving my project, as a backup, or also "saving as ...", I close cubase and I go to the folder where I saved the project, and the tracks appear in the 'audio' folder, but without a name, just They come out as "audio 01, audio 02 ...", how could I get them to save me with the names that I have already put into the project? If you can tell me what the problem is, thank you very much, A big hug.

      By the way,what audio interface are you using? Years of using Motu, currently using 2 8Pre's after my ugtade to Cubase and Wavelab 10 my Cuemix and entire interface disappeared. A quick unplug and restart brought back in and outs in Windows 10 but no Cuemix console. I've heard Focusrite and RME are spot on with great driver support. I appreciate any help you may provide.

    • @VintiqueSound
      @VintiqueSound  4 года назад +1

      I don't have experience with Motu or RME interfaces. I currently have an Antelope Audio Zen Studio, and occasionally run into minor connectivity issues, just have to restart Cubase to fix it, and it's quite rare. I used to have a Steinberg UR824 which worked fantastic on Windows, never any connectivity issues like I see with my Zen Studio. I also used to own a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and same as the UR824, no connectivity issues.
      Aside from that I'd say the Zen Studio is still a superior interface because of its very high quality mic pres and converters, so I don't regret the purchase, though it was an expensive investment.

      @VintiqueSound  5 лет назад

      You can go to this website link:
      new.steinberg.net/cubase/new-features/?
      Then scroll down a little bit, click on the red "Buy Cubase 10.5" button on the right hand side, choose the version you want to buy (pro, artist, elements), then choose the "Updates & Upgrades" tab, update from Cubase 10, then add it to the cart and checkout (you'll likely have to login to your Steinberg account) and make the payment thru their payment portal.
      You'll receive an activation code once the payment is complete, for sure by email, but perhaps also directly in the website after the purchase is made.
      Hope this helps

    i Was Hoping For Them To Add in The Sample Editor a Way To Chop Samples So You Can Separate and trigger Individual Sections of a Sample Like in Machine or Kontakt Maybe in 11

    • @hazmatproduction4562
      @hazmatproduction4562 4 года назад

      Their flagship sampler, Halion 6 does this very well. You can also do it in grooveagent SE within cubase, so I can see why they aren't rushing to improve the sampler track. Although halion is quite expensive so I can see why people would want that functionality adding to Cubase sampler tracks. For me the glaring void in Cubase's functionality versus other DAWs is in its dated modulation system, or lack thereof. The MIDI inserts havent been updated in years & are incredibly basic (no user defined shapes or polarity switching on Auto LFO... no globally assignable modulation envelopes). They are also very cumbersome to set up & involve using 3rd party MIDI loopback drivers & a mess of MIDI tracks just to route modulators to FX parameters. This needs to be updated big time.

    yeah let's talk about the fact that for this update they are charging us 60 euros... just to put things into perspective the best eq on the market, fabfilter's proQ3, is 169 and eventually on special around 60 for Black Friday

    • @hazmatproduction4562
      @hazmatproduction4562 4 года назад +1

      Federico Pinci yeah as an owner of pro Q3 I have no need for the multi spectrum analysis in the lame 4 band channel EQ. The functionality is just much better in Pro Q3. It colours the clashing frequencies in red & you can also show the sidechain spectrum & set a dynamic EQ band to duck the signal in time to your sidechain trigger for more subtle EQing. It can be combined with mid side processing & has almost unlimited bands per instance. This functionality should’ve been added to frEQuency instead of the channel EQ. I haven’t used the channel EQ for anything but basic low / high passing in years.
      The colourised channels look ugly AF.
      The video export is very limited in options.
      I never use the score editor.
      One new plugin when everyone likely already has multiple delay tools. I already have Valhalla Delay, Echoboy, Replika XT, H Delay so a new Delay plug-in is redundant.
      One updated instrument which doesn’t add very much if you already own padshop Pro. And I have Halion 6 which is a much more versatile instrument with granular functionality.
      This update is pretty lame all in all. For the first time in years I’m skipping this update & sticking with Pro 10.
      When Steinberg finally update the native modulation options to have globally assignable LFOs & envelope modulators (As has been requested for years now), I’ll part with more money. We are so far behind DAWs like ableton in this area. The MIDI inserts are junk & cumbersome to set up, cluttering up projects with MIDI channels just for routing.

      @@hazmatproduction4562 this update should have been free, since cubase is so for behind bitwig and ableton for fucntions, ive used cubase since sx3 and these minor updates are getting worse and worse, dont get me wrong cubase is great but its just to little to late, even fl studio has patcher to add Instrument or Effect and will allow you to create chains of plugins of unlimited complexity. yeah this can be done in cubase but the time and effort to do, and youtubers seems to be hyping up this update, 10.0.5 build was 4th of october and 10.5 build is dated 14th october , when cubase 11 comes out i will check reviews before i upgrade, im left feeling underwhelmed with this update

    • @VintiqueSound
      @VintiqueSound  4 года назад

      @haz The 4 band EQ is actually pretty advanced in its engineering and quality. It's certainly not as advanced and full featured as Fab Filter EQ, but it also uses way less cpu and is fully integrated within the DAW, so it's just trade off. You should check out the video that Dan Worral (from Fab Filter) made reviewing it. ruclips.net/video/HspZn-ZRjd0/видео.html
      Also, you have an additional high pass and low pass filter with variable slope. So it's more than just a 4-band EQ.

    • @hazmatproduction4562
      @hazmatproduction4562 4 года назад +1

      @@VintiqueSound I get that, but it is still pretty limited... and yes Dan Worral's video on it made me see the channel EQ in a slightly better light, but I still never use it unless its to clean out muddy low end from time to time, and even then I'll pretty much always use FF Pro Q3 because of its far superior feature set. It is hands down the best EQ plugin on the market. All it needs is attack & release controls on its dynamic bands to be pretty much "perfect in every way imaginable".
      What I need from a Cubase update, is better features for the DAW framework itself, not new or improved plugins. I own the latest licenses for most of Fabfilter's stuff & all of iZotope's advanced products, as well as a ton of waves, NI, soundtoys tools and arguably the best algorithmic reverb plugins on the market (Valhalla DSP's stuff). Cubase already delivers on some great reverbs, but they aren't as good as Valhalla Room, Vintage Verb or Shimmer & Valhalla's new delay is already good enough that I dont need another new one in Cubase. Meanwhile Steinberg waste their resources on making new UIs for plugins as useless as Tonebooster. It's getting a bit annoying. I own Halion 6 & a couple of good FM synths, so it's not the biggest deal for me personally, but I'm sure plenty of users would like to see improved sampler tracks over a new delay plugin, or a native FM synth over an improved granular one. Padshop Pro was plenty good enough as it was for granular synthesis.
      I need Cubase to have better modulation, simpler routing & general quality of life improvements that bring it up to par with the likes of Ableton, Bitwig, Studio One etc in the departments in which Cubase is still quite dated. This update has one such feature (the combined arrow / range selection tool) & everything else is pretty much redundant to me, when I own the best plugins money can buy (maybe without a UAD setup), but honestly I think fabfilter's algorithms are better as digital plugins. UAD just do better analog modeled stuff than the likes of Waves or NI, but in electronic music production, those tools aren't as necessary to me, as they may be for a rock / pop mixing engineer.

    • @agreen9903
      @agreen9903 4 года назад +3

      @@hazmatproduction4562 I'm in same predicament, I already own some of the best plugins out there, but cubase macro system is so far behind its like it's still on par with cubase 5, while even massive and serum and ableton and bitwig and fl studio dominate with patcher cubase on these functions, I don't want to bash cubase I love it and have used for years but seeing cpu usage go up a latency go up after every update saddens me,

      Well - You are not forced to do this update. Steinberg is known to keep updating the older versions, so they keep making bug fixes and small updates for 10.0 for the coming months for sure. I myself think that €60 is reasonable if you consider you get the new Padshop 2, Multitap delay, improved EQ & Spectral curve comparisation mode, and some other nice enhancements on top of that. And for the second remark... Well Cubase has stuff that other DAW's have not, and when those DAW's finally get that stuff too, they also charge you for those upgrades. It's just how things have been for decades now.

However, combine tool wich is a feature that exist in most software from 2010 must be in the regulare update. 60 + 500 + 150 for their shity audio interface ur242 it is to much to give to steinberg for a not so good quality. dutch quality mean nothing today, they just forced people to update because they know all of us who begin daw with cubase can't unlearn everything for another daw. i just really wish they die soon enough to see that happening

    • @jclosed2516
      @jclosed2516 4 года назад +1

      @@HIT9PROJECT I hate to bring it to you, but before Cubase I used Cakewalk's Sonar. I did not had to "unlearn" all the Cakewalk stuff to make the jump to Cubase, and I am sure I could do the same if I feel the urge to jump onto another DAW. I even use another DAW next to Cubase. That DAW is Bitwig, and guess what? I "jumped" from Ableton Live to Bitwig without any problems with "unlearning" things. Just grab some instruction video's, play around with the programs and, unless you are not that smart, you will feel comfortable with that new DAW too (for your information, before Ableton Live I used Cakewalk's Project 5, so Bitwig is in fact the third "clipbased" DAW I use).
      About the ur242.. Well, you don't need to use the same brand sound unit as your DAW. In fact, it pays off to do some "research" (read reviews and that kind of stuff) before buying an sound interface. I myself am still using my trusty MOTU Traveler (1st generation), with a TI-based Firewire interface card. Even now this hardware is aging, it still working rock steady with a low sample rate and stable drivers under Windows 10.
      Oh - And you probably mean German quality in stead of Dutch quality. Steinberg is from Germany (I happen to be Dutch, and I can assure you that The Netherlands are a completely different country than Germany).

The anti masking eq function is surely useful however as this comes really late I had bought the melda production MAutoDynamicEq already while ago which is great for that. Somehow really annoying their pricing approach. I guess this may work for another 5 years but at some point the "old" loyal cubase users like myself will become less and new generations of musicians are already starting with far cheaper and mor up to date DAWs...

      @VintiqueSound  4 года назад +2

      I don't agree with you that other DAW's are both cheaper and more up to date. I've tried to switch to other DAW's that do not have integrated spectral curve comparison, or group/multitrack editing, or built in pitch editing, or notation software, or midi expression support, or a fully features mixer window with history and snapshot capability, and so on. The key word here is "tried" because they did not meet my needs, so I came back to Cubase to get better workflow and better/more features that I need to get things done.
