Happy 44th Birthday, Rob. I'm glad you are turning 44 because that makes me feel a lot younger. 😂 I am hoping we get a suprise remaster of "Metroid Hunters" for the Switch w/ online multiplayer.
Great video. And Happy Birthday! I would personally count NSO+ as part of what makes the Switch a Metroid machine. You have all four mainline Metroid games before Dread, plus Zero Mission. And that’s something for me, in one subscription, alongside Dread and Prime Remastered - and the upcoming 4 of course! It’s quite important, especially for people to jump into the series and for Nintendo who wants to push the IP to newer fans. And that’s not counting the possibilities you mention at the end: Prime 2+3 (maybe a release like Pikmin 1+2 with updated controls), a port of Samus Returns, Metroid 6 or a remake of Super Metroid.
Happy 44th birthday!!! 🥳 Yeah we had a really bad times in 2010 but i'm glad that Nintendo is speeding up with new titles since 2021 and I'm really excited for Beyond, MP2/3 Remaster and Metroid 6 or SM Remake! 🤩Nintendo is cooking good and we're eating good! 🔥 Also I'm very confident that MercurySteam is working and going to show a new title next year...! So... I can't wait for 2025/26! Hoping there won't be any delays...😅
Happy 44th Birthday Rob! from another Metroid fan! I as well became part of the club this year by turning 40 years old! I'm glad to share the Metroid nostalgia with you especially at our age!
Happy birthday Rob! Sending you good vibes 😎Thanks for all the content you produce, it keeps my Metroid heart beating during our long release gaps. It’s a great time to be a Metroid fan ❤
But the Wii controls were so great (at least for Prime games), rediscovering a game with controls that are more appropriate and more instinctive is like playing a new game or rediscovering the same one but with really improved graphics and just for that the Wii wins against the Switch for me.
Happy birthday Rob! 🎉 I have always loved your videos especially the metroid ones and I've been watching since the old house. I love how many metroid games we have on the switch and the only mainline games we don't have is prime 2 and 3 so hopefully we get those hd ports that we've been waiting for.
Metroid is the only reason I own any Nintendo systems. The only way I could justify buying a Switch was that my wife wanted BOTW. I sure hope Prime 4 is on the same system 😅
Happy Birthday! I have been watching your content for years this generation. I have really gotten into Metroid as a series after fusion, prime remastered 😊
I hope they release Prime 2 remastered in Switch. It’s better at least from gameplay perspective and challenge, and I hate the NSO, so the worst scenario is if they lazily add Prime 2 u der new GC category. But so many companies have added their games on NSO but also offered those games for sale on the Nintendo eshop! Why can’t Nintendo do the same- Wii had the best eshop for that regard. We need Samus Reeturns and Prime 2&3 on Switch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think Mercury Steam should do a remaster of Super Metroid with the same controls but they will more likely just update Samus Returns.
Another great video and in particular I love your enthusiasm and passion for Metroid, I don't think if you're a fan of Mario, Zelda and now Metroid that you've ever been as well served with previous consoles are we are with the current one so how fortunate are we all. I would love to see you make a video on the possibilities of Metroid outside of the gaming space as I think that could be an interesting subject to comment on. WE see the moves Nintendo is making in Hollywood, in theme parks and with partnerships with Lego, it feels to me that Nintendo is becoming what Disney was to the 20th century Nintendo is to the 21st century so there is a lot to be excited about to all things related to Nintendo.
Yet there are plenty of "Nintendo fans" who still have this mentality that Metroid is niche series. Metroid has always been Nintendo big franchise cos with the exception of N64 and WiiU all Nintendo handhelds and home console always got new Metroid games. The reason why Metroid never sell cos Nintendo fans only buy Mario Pokémon Zelda Smash and rarely anything else. This is why most Nintendo IPs are dead and forgotten compared to AAA games franchise on ps or third parties.
Metroid is less accessible to most Nintendo fans. Just think about the average Nintendo fan: kids, casual gamers, etc. Metroid won't appeal to them. The games are harder, they're darker and more mature, have less colorful and marketable characters. There's nothing wrong with that, but unless it shakes up to become more accessible it will be lower selling than other series. What's good is that even though it sells less, Nintendo will still put tons of time and money into each new game. Just think, Breath of the Wild made Nintendo more money than the entire Metroid series combined, yet look at the graphics of Metroid Prime 4 compared to Tears of the Kingdom. I know that's not a great comparison but you get my the point. I just think about it like the Nioh series. Nioh games are hard as hell, long as hell, complicated as hell, yet they can still sell to over a million fans each time. That's just how things are.
@Pyrple that's cap! Cos new IP like horizon forbiden west managed to sell tens of million copies. So no the reason why most Nintendo IPs are dead and forgotten becos most of these "Nintendo Fans" only buy Mario Pokémon Smash heck even Zelda before BOTW couldn't crack 10m copies seller.
Metroid is a Niche series, the biggest problem is our "niche" was adopted by the other competing systems, Sony took the more technical/graphics competition, while Microsoft took shooters, this leaves Metroid with an underserved market who cannot get enough, but are not the largest market the games could appeal to. It does not help that the first game was very user unfriendly.
