One of the best things that I loved about the Metroid Dread release is the Metroid dread reports that we got in between, giving us a little bit of lore each time right up until release. Dread was such a great time to be a Metroid fan, and the marketing was on point. I hope Prime 4 will be the same way. I can't wait for the updates to begin! I would imagine prime 4 has the bigger apeal to the mainstream because it's fully 3D. With the right marketing, I think it can certainly become the biggest in the franchise.

It will absolutely be a cross gen title. The way Breath of the Wild was for Wii U and Switch, and Twilight Princess and as for GameCube and Wii. Everything is setting this game up to be the flagship launch title for Switch 2. And I think this game will be wildly successful. Beyond 10 million if they release it that way.
The difference being, that the Switch wasn't backwards compatible, so a port of BotW made sense, and that the Wii verdion of TP added motion controls. Unless the Switch 2 would add some new feature, I doubt Nintendo would do cross gen.

They could do indirect next console release, sell the game the same day as the new console, but it is still only a Switch game. This only works if the next console is backwards compatible of course. This will still capture the next console hype cycle game sales.

I heard that there was a pokemon leak that Switch 2 will use same tools and ROMs as the Switch 1. From what other people say, not only is this evidence for backwards compatibility but it seems it will make it easier for Switch 1 games to have rumored DLSS enhance upgrades in the Switch 2.
BotW had the advantage of the Switch not being extensively more powerful than the WiiU and Switch also not being backwards compatible with the WiiU. So that port made sense. MP4 for Switch 2 would definitly need more work, if they made it crossgen.
I doubt it for this calendar year. I could see Nintendo revealing the switch 2 early next year. Metroid prime remaster looks gorgeous on the current switch consoles. Metroid doesn't sell consoles. It's not as popular as The legend of Zelda games and the Pokémon games and The Super Mario games 👌.

I think they probably release it on original Switch, BUT it will include built -in graphics upgrade -mode when same cartridge is booted on Switch 2. Either that, or there will be download -upgrade available for it on Switch 2. I don't see them releasing Metroid 4 twice this time, but rather that there simply is superior-mode available when played on Switch 2. This would get Switch owners temped to get Switch 2, while not letting down original Switch owners.
I think the real goal is 9-12 million and the convergence of everything going for it can do this(the only bad thing going for it is a 4 in the title) i think 8 million is within the lower expectations though if this is both consoles.
I've been holding out hope for a Switch 2 version of Prime 4, as I already moved on from my Switch & sold it. Even though the Switch 1 has a larger install base now than when Dread came out, I think more & more people have moved on from playing on Switch. I certainly have, as I was tired of games that looked so poor running even worse. And because I played mostly docked, nothing looked good on any of my 4k displays since Switch doesn't even support 4k output, let alone 4k gaming. I really hope Switch 2 is at least capable of that much, and that Prime 4 takes advantage of the Switch 2 hardware. There will be way more hype around the game if there's a legit Switch 2 version.
I was so pumped for prime 4 announcement as super Metroid is my GOAT and prime 1 is in my top 20 all time. After seeing it though, my hype has died down tremendously. It just looks like more of the same Metroid prime. Nothing new or exciting as of now. I dunno, I guess I expected something more or to be blown away and if I’m honest, I wasn’t. I know the argument of more of the same is a good thing but this series needs some new ideas imo. Once the reality was in m face that prime 4 just looked like a prime Metroid game with good graphics my hype level normalized

Or or after prime 4 drops with massive success audience will be hungry for more and drop metriod prime remasters. No it does not, and we don't know what the new console even is. You got to just wait and see what the console even is first. As it stands currently, Metroid Prime 4 already surpassed its budget and will be Switch only. What it really needs is to have more intense battle sequences. I'm disappointed of how lame the battle in the trailer looks when Samus is shooting the pirates. They seriously need to make those sequences more like a shoot em up similar to Doom.

I think Mp4 was made with switch 2 in mind. Retro studio must have known switch 2 was coming when makinh Mp4.

The game will be sold as a "cross gen edition" as to not confuse people to accidentally buy the wrong version. It is the most logical solution.

Metroid will probably live. With Sakamoto, it has a person at Nintendo pushing for new games. Something Fzero and Star Fox are missing.

3-4 million is realistic but only happen for a cross gen otherwise only 1 million for a switch game
