There is new footage of the forest environment from Prime 4 Beyond that was shown at the end of the trailer on the japanese teaser site that seems you didn't include here but great analysis nonetheless...
Just want to take a moment and say thank you for all the years of great content. I appreciate your opinions as an artist to see beneath the surface and give perspective of the artists/designers intention. I don't game often but Metroid has always been a top favorite series to me so I always look forward to your uploads on all content but especially Metroid. Metroid Prime 4 is finally a real game!!!!!!
Could it be that the events in Prime 4 happen earlier in the same year that Samus is infected by X? Early in 20X9 she’s out here fighting Sylux, then later in the year she’s hiding from the SA-X in the BSL. That’d be a heck of a year.
Metroid Fans in the first quarter of Switch's life were hopeful Metroid fans in the second quarter of the Switch's life were depressed And Metroid fans in the whole second half of the Switch's life have been partying HARD and eating an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Rob, your consistent Metroid coverage has finally paid off. I think the logo suggest a wormhole more than a black hole. This could indicate some sort of time travel mechanic. Maybe we'll be visiting past worlds before they were wrecked by the Leviathans.
Timeline First we have Zero Mission. Then there’s Prime, Hunters, Echoes, Corruption, and Federation Force. Samus Returns has Samus exterminate all the Metroids on SR388, followed immediately by the final mission to Zebes in Super Metroid and the BOTTLE SHIP incident in Other M. In Metroid Fusion, with the Metroids extinct in the wild, Samus is infected by an X and infused with Metroid DNA to save her life. After Fusion comes Dread, with Samus being the last Metroid in existence. If Beyond isn’t immediately after Corruption and Federation Force or before Samus Returns, the only other place it could fit in the timeline is between Other M and Fusion.
I think it has to be between Fed Force and 2 in the timeline, the ship is the one seen in Prime 3 and Fed Force during Samus’ cameo. Also the suit is the one seen in Prime trilogy and shows no sign of any cosmetic changes like in Fusion and Dread. Not to mention Sylux returning with stolen Metroids (which seem to be Mochtroids despite him stealing a Metroid at the end of Fed Force) would be a perfect setup for Metroid 2, giving the galactic federation that final push to exterminate them all.
I think it is between Other M and Fusion, as we see Mock-troids with Sylux (so they probably are already extinct) and therefore it’s more likely to be AFTER Returns (consequently after Super and Other M, as they happen in quick succession), but since the gunship is not violet and the suit shows no Metroid vaccine, Fusion has still not happened, hence BEFORE Fusion.
@@TheSpeedOfVideo Yeah, I like the idea of all the Metroid Prime games taking place in between Zero Mission and Samus Returns. As for the Cosmic Year thing, I think there might be a few retcons regarding older Metroid media. Hopefully we get a timeline update as part of the marketing.
I like the theory that Beyond would happen in the past and not after Dread because I feel like from a creative and marketing standpoint, it's more interesting to keep two distant periods of time in the franchise. Mother Brain is dead, metroids are dead, Samus is now the only last metroid in Dread, the X parasites attacked, her suit changed since Fusion, Ridley is supposedly dead for good, we've now seen real chozos. Everything changed after Metroid 2. The Samus from the 2D games is way different from the one in the Prime games. If Nintendo keeps Prime Samus in the past, they have more creative freedom to create very different stories that don't have to take what changed after Samus Returns into account. They can make Ridley and Mother Brain come back, they can continue to use metroids in storylines. It just seems more advantageous for them this way to keep an OG Samus and a modern one with very different adventures post-metroid saga.
Mock-troids being something I didn't notice immediately has to be the coolest detail! Nice to know that not only do we have the return of Sylux, but Mock-troids as well!
I love how not a Single person seems to consider that this could literally just be a new metroid Design. An unlucky one if that is the case, but it could still be.
Considering how chaotic the galactic calendar has been since the franchise's beginning, I haven't paid any attention to those years. The first Prime game was originally 10 years after the first game, but then the trilogy retconned it to 3 years, but then most fans believe Prime is only a year after Zero Mission. Also, Metroid 2 and Super put strong emphasis on the Baby being the last Metroid, with Samus then becoming the last Metroid later on due to the vaccine. All the value in Samus being the only source of Metroid DNA would be deflated if Sylux showed up years later with his own Metroid.
I think the game is BEFORE FUSION for 2 reasons: 1) Samus’ suit has no visible trace of the metroid vaccine, both fusion and dread show a suit that is changed by the Metroid’s DNA (colours but also the “texture”); 2) The gunship is destroyed at the beginning of fusion and the new one (with the IA named Adam) has a different colour (from orange to violet), meaning that and ship looking the same the one from Prime 3 suggest it is the same and has yet to crash. Both armour and ship suggest like the initial event of fusion haven’t happened (yet), so it’s BEFORE FUSION, but I agree it’s probably AFTER OTHER M (and therefore after super), as the presence of mock-troids (with Sylux) may imply their extinction.
It's def before Fusion since she doesn't have the Fusion or Dread suit. But this might take place in the gap between Super and Fusion. This guy doesn't really understand the Metroid timeline very well.
@@DeathJr96R There is no “gap between Super and Fusion”, as Other M begins at the end of Super, therefore the “gap” is between Other M and Fusion. The only other possible spot for a game to be set in (because the games are not beginning right after the previous one) are: before Zero Mission (clearly not the case); between Federation Forces and Samus Returns (but then why the Mock-troids?); and between Other M and Fusion (most likely in my opinion, due to the Mock-troids). Technically speaking, if we look only at the suit and ignore the gunship, we could assume it to be between Fusion and Dread, as at the end of Fusion the suit looks like the usual one (after absorbing a SA-X it get back the iconic big shoulders from Return of Samus). So it could be soon after Fusion, and through MP4 we could see the suit becoming the one at the beginning of Dread. Also, the suit in Dread was said to be “still stabilising”, so seeing the classical suit doesn’t necessarily means it’s not after Dread, as it could be “stabilised to normal” after Dread’s events (of course, it would be really “meh”, as the change in the suits has a thematic meaning etc., but it would be technically possible according to canon). But, of course, the gunship suggests otherwise, making the Other M-Fusion more likely. Edit: I forgot it could also be set after Zero Mission and before Hunters, but the presence of Sylux suggests it’s not the case, of course
I thought all Prime games are placed between Metroid 1 and 2?, you are gonna see Metroid 2 or Super Metroid ship at the end of the last Prime game they do
@@Vidaluko yes, all the MP games are set between M1 and M2, and yes, the designs of the ship are different, as it varies from orange to yellow and red, but canonically it’s always the same ship. In MP1 it’s orange and bulky, while in MP3 is yellow and red, but it’s supposed to be the same one with smaller adjustments, keeping it in theme with the suits (whose design also changes a bit across games). If you look at the ship in Samus Returns (M2) or Super Metroid (M3) it’s more similar to the one in MP1 and MP2 than the one in MP3. The one in Zero Mission (M1) has a completely different design, this makes sense to be a different one as the one Samus uses to land on Zebes is destroyed at the end. Just by the design one could assume that MP3 is after Super, as the design from MP1 and MP2 is “contiguous” (very similar but with small differences) with M2 and M3, while the o e in MP3 stands out as very different but that’s not the case, MP3 is before M2 and according to the event of the games, it’s the same ship. Moreover, if I remember correctly, MP3 ships had Samus coming out under the ships, while the one in the trailer is in line with M2, M3, MP1 and MP2, having Samus exitingfrom the top, telling us is not exactly the same as MP3. So we can assume is kinda like Doctor Who’s Tardis, which changes a bit across seasons to reflect the mood/priorities of the owner. Specifically, in MP3 the ship was used to interact with the map, so we can say it was “updated for the mission” as usually it’s just parked on the surface of the planet. The difference in design is of course due to the different platforms the game were developed for and the various artists who worked on it, they adapted it to the specific game, keeping the general vibe of the ship. However, at the beginning of Fusion the ship crashes and the new one with is introduced, which comes with the IA that Samus named Adam and that is present in both Fusion and Dread. This ship is not only different in design but also specifically described as a new one by the game. Therefore having a violet ship (as it was the case in Dread) would have been a clear signal that is Adam’s one, while having the usual colours is telling us it’s the same she uses in the majority of the games. Uff, sorry for the wall of text😅
I would be really disappointed if this took place after Dread. For one, her suit and ship do not match the continuity at all. For another, it would really cheapen the entire main line storyline if we got yet another "they're cloning metroids after they were supposed to be extinct!" plot, especially after dread "closed off the metroid-focused chapter of the saga" I'm pretty sure the 20X7 thing for super was an unofficial ad when the game first came out, so I would not consider it canon information. Considering there should be no other metroids after Smaus Returns, and that Samus Returns, Super and Other M happen essentially back to back, I would not put the game anywhere between either of those, or after.
I said this on your reaction video but considering the circumstances I feel it bears repeating. Thanks for holding it down Rob! I've always appreciated your content. Been watching your channel since at least 2016/2017 and its been a hell of a journey. Lets do this! 🤘🏻 METROID PRIME 4 🤯
Rob, I've followed your channel since the development restart in 2019, and this is honestly one of the most cathartic things I've ever seen: a Prime 4 trailer deep-dive from you. It's been such a long journey, but it seems we both agree that it will be worth the wait when we get to play it next year!
I began my Metroid journey in 2006 when I bought Metroid Prime for my GameCube back in the day. Prime 2 and 3 followed in 2007. I completed all of the other games in the following years. I‘m happy to be a part of this fandom, to see other people (even if only online) being hyped about a series I love as well. Amazing times lay ahead of us, fellow Metroid fans 🥳
We’ve loved watching your content for all these years, and this is not where your channel ends!! We’re fans til the end Rob!! I personally would love to see you do a first time let’s play runthrough of Prime 4…. Jussayin🤷🏼♂️
I became a fan of Metroid a year before Dread came out the first Game I played was Super Metroid and ever since then I fell in love with this franchise and I can't wait for Prime 4.
I've been a Metroid fan for 30years and I haven't played Dread. 1 - 2 - Super - Prime 1&2&3 - Fusion - AM2R. Too many games, so little time. I'll get to Dread before Prime 4 releases.
I cannot believe it's been 7 years but I cannot wait for 2025 I legitimately cried watching the trailer I could not be more excited for any other video game ever
Agree. They're both 2 massive Metroid fans so they should definitely do more collaborations. It would be very interesting I think (and other ones if possible of course. The more the better).
So stoked for this game and you, Rob! MP2 Was one of the first defining games for me and couldn't get enough of!! I cannot wait for this to release and see your reactions to more release trailers and the actual game!!
I would love to see a segment of the game where you play from inside your gunship engaged in a space battle against pirate fighter ships and maybe an objective could be to take out a pirate mothership to stop the invasion. Either way, this game will be SENSATIONAL.
Congrats my brother. I know you have been waiting for metroid finally. Will be fantastic when it comes out and hopefully part 2 and 3 remastered relased as well
One thing to point out about the timeline years is that 20X5 is Metroid/Zero Mission, but Metroid Prime takes place 3 years after. 20X6 is when Federation Force takes place and states that "several years" have passed since the events of Prime 3. The years 20X5 and 20X6 are described as "cosmic years" which could differ from an earth year. A cosmic year may be a couple of years in length each. A bit of an oxymoron, but makes sense when you are trying to date the cosmos's revolution (if it has one?) compared to earths single revolution around the sun.
Rob, 20X5 is the year of the events in the first Metroid (intro of Metroid Samus Returns confirms it). If we count 1 year per game, we have Metroid Prime in 20X6, Prime 2 in 20X7, Prime 3 in 20X8 and Prime 4 in 20X9. Prime 4 is a direct sequel of Prime 3 and can potentially connect directly with the events in Metroid Samus Returns. There's no time skip or stuff like that, and it makes more sense like this
My belief is that NEStroid and all the Prime games are in one decade (such as Cosmic Calendar 2005), and every 2D game from Metroid 2/Samus Returns all the way to Dread is another decade (such as Cosmic Calendar 2015 and onward). It is the only thing that makes sense to me to have the games after Metroid 2/SR be another decade. Samus has specific gunships in different story arcs. Metroids and X-parasites exist in only certain story arcs.
A few notes that have probably already been said, The scope of the battlea of norion and prime 4 seem pretty much the same, if prime 4 is not smaller, norion is a siege of a colony with the whole planet as the stakes, where as prime 4s battle to me feels like a raid of a single building/facility. Dark Samus being the same being as the Metroid prime kind of puts her as the main villain of the whole trilogy, realistically the planet phase is the main villain, being responsible for prime 1 and 2s conflict. In prime 3 dark Samus acts as phazes avatar. I think the scope of the explorable area is being overblown. It very much looks like a standard prime room, with an entrance a small space to fight enemies or scan things and a cave exit. The background is made up of 2 dimensional images. It really doesn't look that much more impressive in scale so much as art direction and graphics.
Tbh the top details that stuck out to me were the Federation soldiers. In all of the Metroid games(at least, the early ones), we HEAR about the Federation's pride in their military, we get to see it too, yet we only ever see their conflicts with the space pirates end up as one sided massacres that Samus has to clean up. Not only does the fact she got here DURING the attack give us a chance to see them in action, but we can really see just how awful the situation is for them. The Federation soldiers are so much smaller than the pirates, we see in several shots the pirates absolutely eating the Federation gunfire. It deals damage, we get that indicator, but we never see any Federation Troopers even come close to slaying a Pirate, which is something that stuck out to me too. We really see the organization and skills these guys have, having setup an ambush to escort that important payload away and almost every shot fired in that little fight from the Federation soldiers connects with its target, but just 3 space pirates rush in and they already seem utterly overwhelmed. Then we see Samus fighting some pirates in a close quarters room with 2 Federation soldiers off ot the side offering her fire support. Again we see them connecting a good couple of rounds that just do nothing, while all it takes is a single missile from Samus to drop that same pirate the troopers were firing on. I hope we get to see more of their engagements, potential equalizers the Federation might have or even just get to see if maybe that initial analysis was wrong and maybe the Troopers hold under pressure better then we might think. Most of all, I hope we're able to save them and I hope their presence as living allies that fight alongside you have an affect on the story and how it all plays out. Maybe at a pivotal moment in the story, if you've gone out of your way to save the Federation troops and be kind to them they spring an ambush to help Samus against the final boss which leads to a better ending then her just defeating the boss on her own and just leaving. She didn't just stop the bad guy and save the galaxy, she made sure to protect those that ended up dragged into this situation unwillingly, something she has failed to do time and time again, with numerous Federation soldier, scientist, and basically every other species caught in the crossfire of the Metroid Prime series and the other games all having died offscreen before Samus even arrives and has a chance to intervene. This time she got here in time to make a bigger difference then just saving the galaxy and disappearing into her mysterious vigil.
I agree I don't think they'll delay it. They waited 7 years to show us something. Personally I think they're waiting for the switches successor for bigger trailers.
I hope Nintendo can explore the Metroid universe further with some spin-offs in the near future. It would be so cool to see a game about Sylux, and the story arc around that character. Seeing things from his perspective, especially since Sylux is also a bounty hunter. Nintendo could do so much more with the whole Metroid franchise beyond Samus Aran.
I'm in the group that says that Beyond takes place after Super definitely, but most certainly before OM, Fusion and Dread. Personally I feel it'd be weird for them to if anything jump to the end of the timeline for a Prime game of all games as so far they've acted as filler games essentially. Honestly I like the idea that it's continuing the trend of being in between games so we can continue to see Retro's knack for introducing and blending in new lore with both past AND future lore like they did with the previous Prime games for example Prime referencing Samus's adventure literally just as she finished her Zero Mission. I can imagine they'd hint at Zebes being completely obliterated or a B.S.L being in production above SR388 to set up Fusion (maybe a tease at a Fusion remake 🤔🤔🤔🤔) or Chozo sightings IE the Mahwkin Tribe from Dread. I don't know I'm just yappin', but overall think Beyond would fit well as being a middle chapter between the mainline games like its predecessors were. Though whatever it actually is upon release won't disappoint me or anything I'm just purely excited for this game.
As soon as I saw Galactic Federation in that trailer, I knew what we were in for. And I immediately thought of you being through the roof. Metroid has been doing so good lately; like some sort of renaissance for the series.
Love the breakdown! The Metroid timeline has always not been explicitly clear (as you said, we have no idea what cosmic year Fusion and Dread actually occur other than they are obviously after Super). I am pretty sure 20X7 is the “in-stone”, so to speak, year for Super. I’m very hesitant to say this occurs after Fusion and Dread simply because the Fusion suit is pretty much ingrained into Samus’ design following Dread. It would be weird/jarring to see her suit revert from the Dread/Fusion design back to her more traditional Prime-style Varia suit we see in this trailer. Beyond occurring between Super and Fusion makes the most sense to me. But hey, who knows? It’s all just fun theorizing for now!
It feels so nostalgic to finally see this. I've been following your channel since right after Metroid Prime 4 was announced back in 2017 for the only reason to find something that could help me waiting until the release of this game. Thank you so much for helping me making this wait more bearable for 7 LONG YEARS! I don't know how I could have made it without you, seriously. I guess I could just stop following this channel now that this objective is practically fulfilled right? The thing is, it's been so long now I've actually grown attached over the years. It's almost poetic how, this game taking so long to release and the regular content you masterfully succeeded to provide about it over the years based on absolutely nothing made me develop a genuine attachement for this channel. So yes, I've been here since the beginning. We made it ! For everything we shared during these 7 long years, I can now say without a doubt you're my one and only Metroid-tuber Rob. Looking forward to discovering new future amazing Metroid games with you!
Let the good times roll! With the much anticipated “2025” release window that many RUclipsrs and fans alike predicted, the chances of Prime 4 being cross-gen are now almost 100% in my eyes. The only way they have a Switch 1 only release is if Nintendo was going to have it be the “big holiday” 2024 game. That’s not happening. This is the best news possible for the fans and the Metroid series as a whole, because this greatly increases the chances of it hitting the next tier in sales.
I hope Prime 4 is set at the end of the timeline for simplicity’s sake. Those of us who are huge fans of the franchise can keep track of the timeline without issue, but I want this to also be easy to follow for newer players as well.
Metroid Prime 4 might be one massive "open world", but it is divided into a bunch of tiny open areas that are blocked off by Metroid Doors and Elevators (a.k.a. hidden loading screens) making the game feel like one big seamless "open world". And "open world" because this is a metroidvania where you got to get new powers and figure out how to expand the world like a puzzle game. The small open areas allows them to use higher detailed assets and still maintain the performance. And they did take the assets they made from Metroid Prime 4 to make the Metroid Prime Remaster. Only reason Prime 4 looks better is because they visually designed the game around Switch limitations rather than GameCube limitations, plus new stuff that was never in Prime 1 helps fill out the world more and they can add more to the areas. Just glad this game is just one planet like Primes 1 and 2 and not like Prime 3's multi planets.
@@NuiYabuko open areas, metroid games always start small and expand as you get more powers, metroid never has a set path you go down - if you can get to that area, then you can go there - and metroid prime games in the past you can do things out of order. You just cannot get to certain places until you have either a certain power or a power that lets you reach that area, either will let you get to that new area. Metroid Prime will not be Metroid Prime without the metroidvania aspect so it is impossible to make a true open world (i hate open world games anyways, we need structure and some sense of linearity, open area provides freedom of travel and the level of fun that open worlds provide).
@@mrc087 them making prime remaster i think indicates this is going to be a reboot of the series and be more like prime 1 and 2 and just be on one planet. It looks like it will be like prime 2 where you jump between two timelines or two parallel worlds because they did show Samus coming out of a portal at the end of the trailer. They need to stay away from prime 3, prime 3 sucks.
@Ruleof2Review 0:40 ❤FYI, it was *not* Reggie but Shinya Takahashi (in charge of all software ongoings) that introduced the lead up to Metroid Prime 4 reveal teaser during Nintendo's E3 2017 Spotlight (Direct). Get those facts in-shape haha ❤ Source/timestamp: 9:58 ruclips.net/video/Z-g7lXaymA8/видео.htmlsi=-pH2EHdME-MUvmu1
Revisiting the planets you saved I the past would be cool. Reading the lore of Aether before the meteor hit talks about how beatify the planet it was. That said even if we don’t revisit planets I would love some kind of prime 2 call back. Maybe seeing the luminoth or ing again with those Portal jumps.
It looks like a prettier Metroid prime which is exactly what we want. I would love to see an area like Skytown again. That place in Metroid Prime 3 was my favorite. PS: Let's forget Other M exists
I subbed this channel solely on your love of Metroid. That and you also loved 3000th Duel. Its hard to see this past Dread since there are two Metroids in the trailer, and the only Metroid left is actually Samus.
I have a feeling Sylux won’t be the main villain. I don’t think they would show the main bad guy in the first teaser. Maybe he works for or with the main bad guy and by the end of the game he has some kind of redemption scene. Though he is a fire enemy and he will make for great boss fights. Oh I can’t wait.
The real questions now are: Are the leaks for a staggered release for prime 2 and 3 port leading up to prime 4 still on the table? Will prime 2 be a port or remaster like prime 1? And there are no questions about prime 4s quality… it’s so there. Unbelievable incredible and breathtaking. Like a dream to see that trailer
Thanks mate, you nailed it: what a time to be a Metroid fan! By the way, if my math is correct, Switch is the console with more Metroid titles availabe for playing, right?
I loved the first look of all the action. It looks like A LOT is going on in the background constantly. Ships flying around shooting, turrets getting blown up
I wonder if people will give Metroid prime federation force a second look just for the lore and secret Sylux scene. I don’t think it was a terrible game just came out at the wrong time.
Vara suit would look way different if it took place after fusion or dread because of the X parasite. this would take place before those games, and dread is currently at the end of the timeline.
I believe they will place Metroid Prime 4 after Federation Force and before Super Metroid. The timeline is simple enough, just the cosmic calendar is confusing. Secret ending from Prime 3 and Federation Force made clear that the next chapter will revolve around Sylux. Super Metroid goes pretty much directly to Other M, which is more connected than not with Fusion (due to appearance of Adam from that point on) and then Dread. That leaves little to none space for Samus to go back to how things were after the twists and turns at the end of Dread. Assuming Prime 4 would happen after Dread they would need to involve Adam AI to be alongside Samus at that time. Also Yoshio Sakamoto and the MercurySteam are supposedly working on the "next chapter" in Samus' story, and from what I remember the two teams don't want to interfere with each other's timelines with one or two exceptions that connect them (like adding *spoiler* "that guy" as the final boss in Samus Returns). Also there may be time travel/fluctuations involved, who knows. Subtitle "Beyond" can hint at new lore possibilities in itself. I'm betting it will be something with portals/different dimensions assuming we won't be able to use ship like in MP3 but still be able to move between different planets or distant parts of the same planet.
I fit's before Super it also has to be before Samus Returns, since those two happen more or less back to back. I expect Prime 4 will take place between FedFoce and Samus Returns.
@@gydgeza8646 We also can't disqulify the option that there may be more installments after the success of Prime 4. I would like to see new trilogy imho.
I feel like the game is almost finished but from now till the release they want to clean things up for a switch 2 cross gen version and wait to release that with the of switch version in 25’
i just noticed the trailer at the end, Samus comes out of a portal, so this game might play like Prime 2 where you jump between present day and past day versions of the same planet instead of jumping between light and dark worlds, or they just do two parallel worlds again in a different way The logo kind of is a portal a little bit too and goes with the name Beyond. (seeing) Beyond (the portal)?
They will most likely pull a Breath of the Wild with Prime 4, releasing it for switch but also as a release title for the next Nintendo console, thus 2025 release date. So the "best" version of the game will probably be on the next gen Nintendo console
Been here since 2015? Or 2016, so it's been a long time coming but now it's finally time to talk a game that's not a fantasy but a reality. Will look forward to 2025 and for the Switch 2 so hopefully this might be a Switch 2 launch game. Good to see you doing well! Congrats on Prime 4 coverage for over 7 years! Where almost there!
I don’t Know, I still think it’s a direct sequel to prime 3. One small reason is because her ship looks like a progression of or basically the same ship from prime 3 and her ship in future games going forward look nothing like the prime 3 ship. It just does not make sense to me why she would go back to the old ship and old varia suit later on after dread or super metroid. In my opinion I think it’s safe to say it’s a direct sequel to prime 3. And were presumably getting a sequel to dread from mercury steam in the future so it would be weird to have prime 4 squeezed in between dread and Metroid 6.
I’m really glad they showed off the planet at the end. I think prime 1 had the best atmosphere with all the different biomes / types of areas. I’m really hopeful prime 4 will have a lot of different types of environments because the Retro environment designs are amazing
I think one of the things that really stood out to me was that they’re reusing some audio assets from the trilogy. Not only does it still look like Metroid Prime, but it’s still sounds like it too. I was a bit worried that this game would lose some of its identity with such a long absences, but that fear has been completely put to rest. It really does feel like we’re back. Modern era Metroid Prime is such a cool concept, and it feels like there’s more eyes on the series than ever before.
Metroid Prime 4 is so back and so is Rob!!! Can’t wait to get more info and footage Beyond what we’ve received so far. See what I did there?! Rob what do you think is the status of Prime 2 and Prime 3? I’ve been holding off on replaying them on my Wii U hoping that the rumored remasters will see the light of day but my patience continues to decline month over month. They have to be a thing…. Right?!
I am ok with MP4 taking place in 1 world like in MP1. However, Nintendo has always 1-upped themselves with every new game. What i expect is multiple worlds, twice the size of MP3's worlds but instead of a cinematic after taking lift off, we control the take off, the flying thru the Galaxy and landing. But more than that, i expect spaceship battles! Nintendo has the Star Fox team and this could be done. Imagine taking off and on the way to the next world you get a distress signal from a Galactic Federation Battleship that is mid fight with Space Pirates. Now imagine landing on those Battleships, G.F. Valhalla anyone?
Pause at 23:12 ...just to the right of the waterfall running down the cliff wall is some web-like material in between the tree roots on the cliff wall that looks like you can shoot through to enter into the cliff face...
So my first theories are obviously what we saw at the beggining is the opening segment of the game, just as Norion, Space Pirates want something within this Galactic Federation research station, my theory is Ridley is definetly dead just as Mother Brain and Dark Samus so Sylux is their new main leader who wants whatever artifact lies in this research station and at the end they get it and leave Samus injured or defeated (thats how she looses her abilities) Sylux also controls Mochtroids because he hasn't been able to clone the Metroid he stole at the end of Federation Force, the name “Beyond” I think will be the main mechanic of the game where there will be portals similar to MP2 but this time they will send us to the past or the future (where we could see phazon) and this could be the key to bring back the Metroid Prime to life
I really only had 2 nitpicks with the game so far! I wish the Charge Beam looked a little bigger than the older titles! Also wish we could see Samus's eyes behind her visor! Always liked seeing emotion in her eyes when things were happening! Other than that! I'm super excited for the game!
SO MUCH TO BREAK DOWN, GUYS! What do you think of the details I noticed? Do you agree? *PLEASE* share this around! 🙏👊
The cosmic year seems like a plot hole. Federation force waa 20x7 and we know from old manuals that fusion is 20x9. An oversight perhaps? 🤔
Could it be that the events in Prime 4 happen earlier in the same year that Samus is infected by X? Early in 20X9 she’s out here fighting Sylux, then later in the year she’s hiding from the SA-X in the BSL. That’d be a heck of a year.
@@RomulusChristCaesarthank you! So glad to have done my part to keep the flame alive. We’re so close! 🔥
Metroid Fans in the first quarter of Switch's life were hopeful
Metroid fans in the second quarter of the Switch's life were depressed
And Metroid fans in the whole second half of the Switch's life have been partying HARD and eating an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Considering outside Primes and Other M you can play all the metroids in the Switch you are correct.
@EmpReb also Samus Returns, which I feel is a pretty important one. And I also feel like it's pretty important to have all the primes.
@@calvinbrinenestoris2357yeah but with luigi mansion 2 port and dkc returns having all its 3ds content has me hopeful for a samus returns port

I have been waiting for this exact video. This one. For 7 years. The talk from Rob.
YES ☝🏻
Haha, now that it popped up in my timeline I realized: I did too!! 😂😂
Same. I was genuinely excited to see how he would react to it himself. His passion is so communicative.
I can't get over the music. All the tracks kick ass. And they did Sylux justice with that intro
He literally just walked into a room. What Justice are you talking about?!
The metroids, the kickass guitar, the pirates and the square up with samus. It's so great!
The music makes me want to cry. It sounds so beautiful
The guitar was my favorite part of the music in the trailer
The music in the forest part of the trailer is BEAUTIFUL
Rob, your consistent Metroid coverage has finally paid off.
I think the logo suggest a wormhole more than a black hole. This could indicate some sort of time travel mechanic. Maybe we'll be visiting past worlds before they were wrecked by the Leviathans.
Timeline
First we have Zero Mission.
@@TheSpeedOfVideo
Yeah, I like the idea of all the Metroid Prime games taking place in between Zero Mission and Samus Returns.
Are they mocks or actual metroids?
@@bluesfier7758 Definitely Mocktroids as they look to only have one spherical nodule where Metroids have at least three.
And that's also good content to speculate on why mock-troids specifically, which is always nice.
Not confirmed in the slightest. It's a sound theory I guess.
I love how not a Single person seems to consider that this could literally just be a new metroid Design. An unlucky one if that is the case, but it could still be.
I'm so happy for us, the fans. Guys .... We are IN the Prime 4 marketing cycle.
I think the game is BEFORE FUSION for 2 reasons:
1) Samus’ suit has no visible trace of the metroid vaccine, both fusion and dread show a suit that is changed by the Metroid’s DNA (colours but also the “texture”);
2) The gunship is destroyed at the beginning of fusion and the new one (with the IA named Adam) has a different colour (from orange to violet), meaning that and ship looking the same the one from Prime 3 suggest it is the same and has yet to crash.
Both armour and ship suggest like the initial event of fusion haven’t happened (yet), so it’s BEFORE FUSION, but I agree it’s probably AFTER OTHER M (and therefore after super), as the presence of mock-troids (with Sylux) may imply their extinction.
I agree
For another, it would really cheapen the entire main line storyline if we got yet another "they're cloning metroids after they were supposed to be extinct!" plot, especially after dread "closed off the metroid-focused chapter of the saga"
I'm pretty sure the 20X7 thing for super was an unofficial ad when the game first came out, so I would not consider it canon information.
METROID PRIME 4 🤯
Rob, I've followed your channel since the development restart in 2019, and this is honestly one of the most cathartic things I've ever seen: a Prime 4 trailer deep-dive from you. It's been such a long journey, but it seems we both agree that it will be worth the wait when we get to play it next year!
So excited to enter this new phase of your channel with you Rob. Can't wait for more info.

This was an awesome video. Thanks Rob. Hope to see you and Andres Restart talk about it sometime together!
Agree. They're both 2 massive Metroid fans so they should definitely do more collaborations. It would be very interesting I think (and other ones if possible of course. The more the better).
I am a newer Metroid fan but it has been a fun journey to this point.

I remember the old house, I started watching in 2018. You're part of the reason I became a Metroid fan!
Love to hear that, duder!!
Still feels unreal to me. Insane times. The hype has returned.
I really like how Samus' suit has traces of a sort of gunmetal gray that it had from the Prime 3 suit upgrades
I wanna see Ridley and Motherbrain :D
Great monologue at the end, tons of passion. Subbed.
Finally man... Weve been waiting 17 years for this i cant even believe it!!
So stoked for this game and you, Rob! MP2 Was one of the first defining games for me and couldn't get enough of!! I cannot wait for this to release and see your reactions to more release trailers and the actual game!!
I remember the road to 20k subs !! Keep up the great work! Looking forward to all your content!
Thank you!! 🙏
Will be fantastic when it comes out and hopefully part 2 and 3 remastered relased as well
Thank you for all of the videos you have made. It’s been a long ride!
It’s why you are a true gamer that you do this more for the game than the channel 🙌🙌👍🏼😎
We definitely did it !!! 🎉🎉🎉
I’m only here because you’re my favorite Metroid channel… 7 years finally paid off!!
Or the decade changed
Perfect intro!
By the way, cherry on the cake in this Direct: Metroid Zero Mission on NSO+
Never played this one, was hoping it would show up!
Very happy that this game is next year and i can't wait to play it! We are finally back in business!
A few notes that have probably already been said,
The scope of the battlea of norion and prime 4 seem pretty much the same, if prime 4 is not smaller, norion is a siege of a colony with the whole planet as the stakes, where as prime 4s battle to me feels like a raid of a single building/facility.
I've been dying to play this game
Might be on one of my cruises before then
I agree I don't think they'll delay it. They waited 7 years to show us something. Personally I think they're waiting for the switches successor for bigger trailers.
I have the same thought
I hope Nintendo can explore the Metroid universe further with some spin-offs in the near future. It would be so cool to see a game about Sylux, and the story arc around that character. Seeing things from his perspective, especially since Sylux is also a bounty hunter. Nintendo could do so much more with the whole Metroid franchise beyond Samus Aran.
I’m glad we all have finally made it here ❤ feels good after basically 7 years
I'm in the group that says that Beyond takes place after Super definitely, but most certainly before OM, Fusion and Dread.
I'm really happy you and AndresRestart finally got some big Metroid Prime 4 news.
Great breakdown! Such a happy time for us Metroid fans. Can’t believe it’s actually upon us!! 😬😬
I’m very happy for you! Your trailer reaction was perfection as well.
If Prime 4 does slip to 2026 then i hope we get Prime 2 and 3 for Switch/2
It won’t slip.
I hope Prime 4 is set at the end of the timeline for simplicity’s sake. Those of us who are huge fans of the franchise can keep track of the timeline without issue, but I want this to also be easy to follow for newer players as well.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Hunters-dome. Two Hunters enter, one Hunter leave.
So not open world then?
Literally nowhere near confirmed how many planets MP4 might take place on. So many people talking out of their ass right now.
Get those facts in-shape haha ❤

You were the first person I thought of. Happy for you and for us.
Its hard to see this past Dread since there are two Metroids in the trailer, and the only Metroid left is actually Samus.
great to see your reaction to Metroid Prime 4 finally being shown. I'm really glad we will finally get to see more of this game.
The real questions now are:
Are the leaks for a staggered release for prime 2 and 3 port leading up to prime 4 still on the table?
Will prime 2 be a port or remaster like prime 1?
And there are no questions about prime 4s quality… it’s so there. Unbelievable incredible and breathtaking. Like a dream to see that trailer
I feel like i missed out. I have always been a big Metroid fan and has only just not discovered your channel. I may have to go down the rabbit hole!
Thanks mate, you nailed it: what a time to be a Metroid fan! By the way, if my math is correct, Switch is the console with more Metroid titles availabe for playing, right?
Been waiting a long time for this. Cant wait for what’s next
I loved the first look of all the action. It looks like A LOT is going on in the background constantly. Ships flying around shooting, turrets getting blown up
There he is; I am still recovering from my excitement
Dude WHAT A TIME to be a Metroid fan WE ARE BEYOND HYPED
Here we go! Time to REALLY talk about Metroid Prime 4.
Honestly I wanna see all the hunters come back especially weavel.
23:50 Anyone notice the Metroid Prime 2 -esque portal behind Samus here? 👀👀
I wonder if people will give Metroid prime federation force a second look just for the lore and secret Sylux scene. I don’t think it was a terrible game just came out at the wrong time.
Dude I've been waiting for this video I can't wait to watch
When they finally revealed it I immediately went to your channel to see your reaction.
Yeah, been here speculating with u since 2017
I feel like the game is almost finished but from now till the release they want to clean things up for a switch 2 cross gen version and wait to release that with the of switch version in 25’
i just noticed the trailer at the end, Samus comes out of a portal, so this game might play like Prime 2 where you jump between present day and past day versions of the same planet instead of jumping between light and dark worlds, or they just do two parallel worlds again in a different way
The logo kind of is a portal a little bit too and goes with the name Beyond.
What a great breakdown Rob! I have nothing but hype for the future of this franchise!
The gameplay reveal of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has unlocked peak Rob content!
*RUMORS OF MY DEATH HAVE BEEN GREATLY EXAGGERATED*
Keep it up man! Great video!
I didn’t even think of going back to Tallon IV. Would be sweet to return to the Impact Crater to see/fight something.
Right?!
It's crazy that prime 4 is the best of a decade old tech. Can't wait to see what the follow up to Switch will give us
There is no way it takes place after Dread... the suit and Metroid prove that.
From Wii to Switch you probably looking at around 20x the power, and you can see it in the massive difference in lighting quality.
