- Another potential relocation spot for the Chicago White Sox is being discussed, but this move would not be far and would keep the MLB franchise in the city. According to a new Sun-Times report, the White Sox are considering building a new ballpark in what could become Chicago's next neighborhood. The newspaper reported Wednesday night the team has its eye on a huge piece of undeveloped land near the South Loop, known as "The 78," to be the location for a baseball-only stadium. According to the report, sources familiar with the talks, who asked to remain anonymous, say the negotiations are "serious."
So if the White Sox were to move to this location, is Guaranteed Rate going to lay empty and unused?
Migrant shelter
The Chicago Fire might move there when their lease is up at Soldier Field.
@saulgood. I won't disagree about the Chicago Fire. Another suggestion of mine would be to have some minor league baseball teams who are within 100 miles of the city to play a few times a year at the ballpark. In recent memory, Wrigley Field has had some non baseball events, like a college football game (Northwestern University) and a Winter Classic hockey game (Blackhawks) , so Guaranteed Rate can hold these events.
The Sox are not in Bridgeport They are in Armour Square.
has Bridgeport become a crime ridden ghetto since i lived there in the nineties? if attendance is down due to crime, then it would be better to build another police station next to the Sox stadium ...which was just built thirty year ago...
New stadium opened in 1991
Keep it on the Southside.. they need something South of cermack besides uChicago & the tentative brobama library.
The South Loop is actually in the south.
@@beartackle south of cermack is where the "south" begins my friend. Google it.. knowledge is power
@landon. Actually, the official or unofficial dividing line between north and south in the city is Madison Street.
If you build it. They will come.
Just like tha Bears are going to move right ? Maybe try winning for attention instead of this bluff
Bear fans don't care about winning. They go to get drunk and act like assoles

Great idea, you might get 2000 fans a season with this stadium.
You're wrong.
@@FatboyyTransport Sox ranked about 17th in the league for attendance in 2005. Just a few years ago their promo was buy a bleacher ticket get 2 beers free.. They struggle for a fan base in a large sports market. Don’t think a new stadium is gonna change that. Nashville probably is a better bet.
@@frothybeaver4869moving to Nashville is the last thing I hope for. I’m a Sox fan.
@@frothybeaver4869if you build it, they will come.
@frothy I know you're stretching it with two thousand a season but the team should draw well if it plays above .500.
Better off building condos. These sports teams just love wasting money they don’t even have. It’s gonna fall on us just like the stupid bears when they finessed $500 million from Chicago.
