- MTV New Year's Eve Live Broadcast from The Diplomat Hotel in New York 1981. Transfered from a swedish CBS promo tape released in 1982, so it's 36 years old. Upscaled to 1080p50 since RUclips doesn't support 576p50.

Nothing like rocking out in an 87 year old, 3 story Elks Lodge Room! This was originally the big and ornate New York Elks Lodge #1 lodge room located on the 3rd floor built back in 1910-1911. In 1935 the building used and became the Hotel Diplomat after the Elks lost the building due to a unpaid bank loan. A member from the Elks least the building back from the bank who took if from the Elks. The Saltzman family ran the Diplomat until 1969 when Mr. Durst bought the note on the building from the Saltzmans youngest son, Michael Daltzman. Who now says he wishes he never sold the note to the Durst group only to have the building torn down in 1994. Michael’s older brother and sister were the family members who really ran the Diplomat Hotel very well as they could and keep it clean. Until the Durst’s bought it and that organization let the building fall into decay on purpose. So the Durst’s could tear it down and all of 42nd & 43rd street torn down and dug up to but another fucking bank up!
Tons of history and ornate building wrecked in NYC once again for a crappy eco freak bank building that sucks. I want the Diplomat back!!!!!!!!
