You should definitely visit Finland in june next year. If you go all the way to Northern Finland, there is a whole week when sun doesn’t set at all. That is the dream of photographer

Hey Hayden. I've just discovered your channel and really like your work. Subscribed! I have a suggestion of such situations as you found yourself in. There have many occasions where I've taken light trails or some sort of long exposure image without a tripod. I usually use my lens caps or some object to tilt my lens upwards if my camera is on the ground. I usually put it on 2 second timer to avoid camera shake and then take the image. Some folks use balled up jackets, or clothes, etc. to give the camera a little height or angle, but there could always be some minor settling of the fabric due to the weight of the lens and this will affect the image.
Not sure if you're still in the uk, you should try Rochester amazing castle and cathedral it's my home town or close enough. Charles Dickens novels based in and around there and were written there. Roman's invaded. There was a war all sorts.

Next time just try and put the camera on the ground or ledge and take the long exposure, thats why i have done a few times when they say not tripod photography. Or just a miniature bean bag to rest it on.

In Finland the sunset is at 11:00pm and the sun rises at 03:00 am so we get so much sun light in summer time.
