- BMW e60/e61 Washer Fluid Level Sensor Issue..Replacement!
Hi everyone and welcome to another Bimmer Fixer video.
As you can see I have a warning on my dash that says I am low on windscreen washer fluid but the revisor is actually full!! Turns out that the level sensor is faulty. In this video I will show you how to change the sensor quickly and with minimal tools.

I’m having this exact problem on my E60 at the moment - thank you!
@Simon Evans Hi Simon you're very welcome! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
Thanks for the video
@Ansar Ali You are very welcome! Good to hear from you again! 👍🏻
Thanks for the video👍😊
@Hosu89487 Hi, thanks for the comment and feedback 😀 👍🏻
Thanks for the video, do you have to empty the wind screen washer tank before any work is done?
@Luke Hancy Hi Luke, no it can be full I actually didn't know this until I actually took the sensor out I was half expecting it to drain when I took it out but it didn't 👍🏻
would the location work for a 2000 323ci? Or is it a different location or sensor
@juanmanriquejr9388 yeah it's in a very similar position and its the same sensor. It's actually a bit easier to do on the e46 because you can lift out the washer fluid tank from the top of the engine bay. Hope that helps.
Rookie question, but do i have to plug battery out before changing sensor?
@estmarGamer It's not a rookie question its a good question🙂. I would say for something like this you're safe to leave the battery plugged in. 👍🏻
same problem with my e46 - replaced sensor - still shows as empty - many ideas please
@richardsimmons6470 Hi, you may of been one of the very unlucky ones and received a new faulty sensor or its going to be the electrical connection. Not sure if you've already given the plug a clean, they can get quite corroded.
Can the entire container be replaced from this position if it is punctured?
@darkodjeric2735 Yeah it can, its a little fiddly and some of the bolts are a little awkward to get to but it's doable 👍🏻
Do you know if its the same part for lci/prelci ?
@crg92 Hi, yes it's the same part. 👍🏻
@@TheBimmerFixer fitted today using your guide, was spot on thanks 👍
@crg92 Thats brilliant!! You're very welcome my friend 👍🏻
Hi, coolant sensor and washer sensor it is same?
Carshawk88 Hi, yeah that correct 17137553919 they share the exact same part number 👍🏻
Thank you 😊
