    I was about to pull my hair out looking for a fuse. Damn BMW makes it difficult. Not only replacing the module but now I have to get it coded. Although you did me a great service in finding the problem, I wish it could've been more light in removal and installation of the module. All I could really see is your hands wrestling with connections and hearing things snap together. Thank you for more of a headache. LOL

    Hey bro, thanks for the video! I got a faulty KBM module. Got the NCS Inpa and WinkPF too along with the cable. New module just arrived from ebay. Gonna proceed on sunday. I will have to code the new module, if its not the same part number, is that an issue?Thanks in advance (E61 from 2006)

    Interesting video again.
    Doesn't the kbm throw a code if its broken, so that you didn't have to change the pump? Or were both broken?

    • @BMWDoctor

      That’s top secret I can’t tell you that, I have special tools for checking that I had to buy when working at BMW that we ca. Plug in and check the module
      And no I changed pump anyway but it wasn’t broken but it was completely knackered when I tested it

    Hey doc, would ISTA have shown any issues with that module before you decided to replace it??
    I'm thinking about how I would have diagnosed this issue...
    Thanks!
    Hm, surprised to see the "oxidation" on the fuse panel metal housing. What would cause that, in your car? Water infiltration??

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  4 года назад +3

      No mate the oxidation is normal on all E60s it’s a metal frame inside therefore just cold weather over the years causes that it’s perfectly normal and most cars when you remove the glovebox like that you will notice many many are like that
      Also no ista doesn’t show this as a fault i have special tools that I use to diagnose these modules which I plug up to the module and can run tests on each relay to make sure there powering there specific circuits it’s a harness we used to use in BMW which checks for the following:
      BATTERY DRAIN
      SHORT CIRCUIT
      BOARD FAILURE
      RELAY FAILURE
      voltage current coming in and out the modules
      And also used to make tests if needed back and fourth between the cars
      But that harness needs to be linked up to the official ISTA and it runs its tests
      You will notice in many many ista test plans they ask you to connect certain plugs up to the module this is called a test harness we have all BMW technicians will have this for module testing it makes doing these cars very very very easy indeed and cannot be beaten
      There not available for sale or made anywhere most of us buy this when we are there and keep them as it’s bought out of our own trade account like all our tools
      But it beats everything and anything and BMW from a hard car becomes very easy to diagnose in minutes
      We have about 50 plugs on the harness one goes to a port on the computer we plug in and another straight to the module we are testing or whatever ista asks us to probe it will then conduct it’s own tests based on the harness and fault finds for you it’s puts all the modules used for fault finding in circuit and on a open test and runs them like it would on the car to find the fault
      My harness is used on ALL BMW E90 E91 E92 E87 E82 E88 E60 E61 E63 E65 any of them I try to not use it so much on here as I don’t want people trying to make one or clone one so I don’t delve in with it but it’s what I usually send Nathan when he needs to use it BUT I don’t let him use it for video purposes as He’s not allowed
      But I have used it to just diagnose another module failure on the car which I need replacing which is coming on another video

  • @billwallace4184
    @billwallace4184 3 месяца назад

    Dean, Have you tried to repair that KDM in the E60 or what my experience reminds me of a similiar issue with my adaptive headlights, if or when water shorts out the HV ballast module under the lamp assy via the seal failing, the vehicle Module that drives that ballast has 50 key cycles of a shorted circuit then it quits trying to turn this ballast on anymore. I followed a BMW tech in the UK and tried to copy each step of going thru the SW to reset the modules counter back to 0, It is very difficult to grasp at first but after trying it a lot of times I was able to reset the counter in the module, My hardest hurdle was trying to follow my SW that was in German. My guess is this module you have and I as well have same neither washer pumps are working and My son was using the car for a year and ran the bottle dry and I'm sure he tried constantly to get the spray to work. I may have to find a used KDM as well on EBAY now. I'm too rusty on the SW side to try and see if there is a reset for this counter if it even has one. Thanks for the great video's we all learn a lot from them.

On my E60 The windshield washer does not spray water on the windshield when its a dry day, however if the windshield is wet or if there are light showers the washer will spray water on the windshield. Is that normal as it is very annoying if i need to clear the windshield otherwise.

    I've heard some shite in my time but blaming MOT testers for burning the crap quality under designed KBM pump drive circuit/relay out has to be right up there with the best. Just swap the relay, 10 minute solder job even without the right gear. Not really having a dig but just admit it's a poor quality design and not fit for purpose. It is undoubtedly designed to fail, same as the Renault miniature relays in their UPC modules.

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  4 года назад

      my friend dont compare Renault to BMW. BMW is very very advanced compared to that French crap and it is the MOT testers problems they burn the circuits not the first time I have seen this believe me I do this day in day out

    • @timmehlittleloud2251
      @timmehlittleloud2251 4 года назад

      @@BMWDoctor So do I. All I'm saying is that relay should not burn out the way it consistently does. Exactly the same way the French junk does. Both are not fit for purpose and are both designed and built to fail.

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  4 года назад

      BMWS are NOT designed to fail at all. I have a E60 now on 170k with the same modules that works perfectly and needed NOTHING and no new modules this is all due to neglect and many many many owners owning this car needing many things replaced I have had to replace many other modules on this car, which as well you will see is another problem people are banging there heads against a brick wall.
      because NONE OF THESE keyboard warriors and forum members know crap about crap and definitely not these cars the first thing they tell everyone is its a FUSE and I HATE THAT fuses do not pop constantly or frequently and when they pop it means there is a problem further down to be making that happen.
      this is why I run a channel and most of them watch and learn and and hopefully stop making people tear apart there car when they know nothing about anything

    • @timmehlittleloud2251
      @timmehlittleloud2251 4 года назад

      @@BMWDoctor Totally agree. Your cars like mine will tend to fail less than most because we do preventative maintenance. All these remote functions are fused but they use a common fuse that powers a number of relays etc. in the module. But, these modules are weak. With regard to the KBM the pumps start seizing drawing more current and because of the high shared fuse value and the under-rated internal relay they inevitably burn out. BMW like all manufacturers design these modules to fail so they can royally ream punters who blindly go to the dealer. Most modules do repair and don't need swapping. I've been repairing them for 40 years and I've seen the "progress" all manufacturers have made. Half of it totally stupid. Maybe not half but you get what I mean. Anyway, keep up the good work.

    Im one of the admins on BMW F10/F11 Sweden and you’re spot on when you mention the lack of knowledge from all of the “know it all” guys🤦🏻‍♂️😂
    Btw, can’t you just replace the relay?🤔 thinking if someone can get this far they must be able to solder on a new relay on a pcb🤷‍♂️😂 or is the module gumed up?

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  4 года назад +2

      No mate the relays ain’t worth fixing as o will show on another video they ain’t replaceable on the board and when you can buy the module for £10 it doesn’t really make sense mate
      And yes mate that’s correct so you know how much this problem is asked everywhere on forums and they al end up in a brick wall because the little forum guys don’t know there arse from there elbow and don’t know crap about these cars and how they work
      This is why so many are still running around with this problem failing MOT as this is a MUST in the U.K. for MOT or it will be a straight failure
      Yet they act like they know everything when they actually know f**k all as there all wankers to be honest none have my skills or are on par with me I will be opening my own forum soon and hope to end the little keyboard warrior that run around sharing RUclips videos after they make people rip there whole car apart looking for issues
      First thing everyone says is CHECK THE FUSE as if there is a f****king fuse on a E60 for washer pump this isn’t 1990 this is a new era car I dread to think how any of them would diagnose a f series if they can’t even work out how advanced bmw is they don’t use fuses for hardly anything critical on a car anymore

    • @davidtheswedishtechguy
      @davidtheswedishtechguy 4 года назад +2

      BMW Doctor aah nope not worth it then😬 it just hit me cause so many people just swap things out without checking the real problem first and some times it’s as easy as a blown diod or bad soldering connection 🤷‍♂️😊
      Ooh I’m 100% backing you up on that statement 😊 the forums and groups are full of them and a lot of arguments flying around with no reason 🥴 we have zero bullshit policy on the Swedish Facebook group.
