You guys blow me away!! This was totally a hoot and a half ... "Add more cards" this equalling more cylinders and or more squiers for more contacts just to hear it not like a one lunger gas model... This was so fun to watch thanks guys!
I was thinking the same thing Edward, maybe three that are offset at the same angle as a three bladed prop, plus a bigger motor/ESC to compensate for the extra load on the motor.
Yo guys... the smiles and laughter on your faces, tells the whole story... "way too much fun!" - I love it. Thanks for the video... oh yeah - cool chairs!
I was kind of hoping you were going to fit a speaker to it to make it produce motor sounds. I have this fantasy of a quadcopter that makes the sounds of a fairy from Legend of Zelda.
lol, playing cards flicking the spokes of the bike, did that as a kid. One weekend we also tried half-inflated balloons taped to the rear forks, the spokes would slap it as the wheel turned, making a nice 'womp-womp-womp' motor-like sound for about 5 minutes until the balloon would break. :)
Awesome video, that is a sweet looking P-51 for being scratch built. I love the chairs, I can pictures me sitting in one playing Star Wars Battle Front 2, flying a tie interceptor, awesome, awesome, awesome.
That's simple and amazing, I was just thinking if you put two tabs on the motor opposite sides will sound like 2 stroke, If you put just one, that's a four stroke haha!
That's just awesome! What about 3 more skewers (top, bottom, and both sides)? Wouldn't that make it sound smoother? It's all about timing. I will have to try it.
Hello guys and lady's of flitetest, Josh you've got the best chair :P because it's a royal color (the dutch royal color) . The Royal Throne, with lumbar support ;) Nice thing to do with the tape, maybe next time with 2 or more wooden toothpicks/scewers (more cylinders) Keep going the good work guys\womens love the channel for years now,and hope many more to come. Greets here from the netherlands, richard
I love it .. Sounds like gas engine .. very epic.. so sweet. I used to have a website years ago called BFoamy.com. We tried to show people how you build and fly cheap built foamies. Real life hard times took the website from me but still fly. You guys are doing what me and my Brother were trying to get started years back.. Love the site love the builds and love the videos.. Great work guys. LOVE IT ALL. Keep up the good work BruceM
could try experimenting with where the skewer is placed, how long it is...how tightly it's secured at the back end, there's definitely going to be a certain resonance that will maximize the sound, using the body as a sound chamber....
Possibly try a tiny cutout on one of the props so the skewer only hits one blade, this will half the frequency of the sound, it seams a little too fast/high pitched at full speed.
Has anyone built a plane from these guys and then stopped and was happy with it? I kept biulding arrows over and over trying to make them lighter more powerfull and faster, i decided im a useless perfectionist and moved on to the vector. I built a vector and thought it a bit lame after the arrows - which i still havnt perfected ( i even bought one s800 shadow, and bugga me the arrows i was building from flitetest are far superior ). I then re-built it as the plans had options for swept forward wings, I did like this alot more, then i rebuilt it again because the plans had options for leading edge slats, this was a great combo for slow high alpha flying. I never had canards before and after getting cocking with my new cool plane i ummm, it needed rebuilding so i adjusted the canard pitch and now this cool engine thing. FFS I need to move on to another plane and you guys just keep coming up with stuff and keep me thinking and wanting to add and adjust, damn it i even saw a really old video of yours with lights hooked up through a brushed esc, fibreglass threads and hooked to throttle to make it look like flames coming out, and glowing more the more throttle you are running. Seriously you do understand when us mere mortals see something as cool as this we have to do it lol. Ok new plan, vector ( with rudder ), + swept forward wings + plus leading edge slats + afterburner glow system + engine noise sytem, spose i better look into a servo for the canards while im at it, whats a vector weigh again about 8kg? lmao
Hi guys, i wish you were in England. I learn so much from your vids. Have you tested Hobbyking skipper xl, I am using four cell 2700 and could use your expertise for cg.keep up the good work. James
You could check the rippums your electric motor is running and space you skewer's to certain degrees to make it sound different, Like look into the hertz and stuff and displace 2 or 3 of them in the proper spots to make it sound a certain way.
I want some help .I musing a 30amp esc with 1400kv motor and 7.4v lipo battery. When I switch this on the esc keeps on beeping but the motor won't run.
The Piper Enforcer returns ! I loved the sound effects of course - and I will try to work out a way for you guys to make a turbine sound for you to try :-) But right now I predict that every FT prop plane built fro now on is going to feature this mod, and I predict its going to make inroads into production R/C planes very fast !
I think you guys started a new trend amongst scratch builds.
Yall should win a medal for being the happiest guys on the planet
Alex and stefan are always super happy in the videos, i think full build videos would be hilarious if done by them ha ha
You guys blow me away!! This was totally a hoot and a half ... "Add more cards" this equalling more cylinders and or more squiers for more contacts just to hear it not like a one lunger gas model... This was so fun to watch thanks guys!
I wonder what it would sound like if 2 pieces of tape were next to each other?
I was thinking the same thing Edward, maybe three that are offset at the same angle as a three bladed prop, plus a bigger motor/ESC to compensate for the extra load on the motor.
Holy smokes, guys, that was amazing. Chris Kremer, you're a legend.
who needs an O.S engine when you can have an electric motor, tape and a skewer. awesome videos guys.
The intro really adds a more proffesonial look to the episode, and also when you tell what you are doing, thanks for listening Flitetest:D
That sounds surprisingly great! I did not expect that. Well done Gents!
I can’t believe we haven’t been doing that for years. Nice! Sounds very much like an internal combustion engine
I have a feeling Flite Fest is going to be a LOT noisier this year! Amiright?
Not any worse than an Arrow's scream :D
“I thought this was an all electric meet?”
@air-Headed Aviator It is
Michael Kaler you didn’t catch the joke.
That I did not. Lol.
Pure fun! Great suggestion, Chris Kremer!
Yo guys... the smiles and laughter on your faces, tells the whole story... "way too much fun!" - I love it. Thanks for the video... oh yeah - cool chairs!
Puh-LEEZE!! The coolest group of people on the internet are working there are Flitetest.
thats just pure genius. Gonna try that as soon as possible!!!
Greatest FT innovation of 2018! Gotta do this to the founders Tri-motor! Great way to sync the motors by sound!
AWESOME idea Chris Kremer !!
That turned out about 10 times better than I ever would have expected. Sounds cool.
Finally the turn is complete!! At first we were trying to quiet our gas & glow engines, now we are trying to make electrics noisier!!!lol
I’m going to have to experiment with different sized rods and tubes to make different acoustics!
Wow, that works surprisingly well. And the chairs... excellent! Reminds me of the Recaro seats in my car.
That Flitetest Fans group is awesome. Since Josh's favorite color is orange, it should be called the Spektrum Chair. Excellent video guys!!
Alex you deserve 10 points for invention. And next 10 for expert landings.. Lol. Love you guys! Great job! Keep it up. Thank you for awesome content.
Redhead Alpha the commenter that gave him the idea deserves 9 of those points.
Low tech sound generator. FliteTest needs to put this in the shop asap! ^_^
the best upgrade ever... I love it
I was kind of hoping you were going to fit a speaker to it to make it produce motor sounds. I have this fantasy of a quadcopter that makes the sounds of a fairy from Legend of Zelda.
Look! Listen!
You'd have to be pumping some serious dB to overcome the scream of the motors. :P
Spencer Pond
HEY!!
HEY!!!
HEY!!!
...
HEY!!!!
Stephens laugh kills me every time!!!
I'm gonna have to try that out! What type of tape did you use? And how did you mount the skewers?
You guys should get with Peter and see if you can do a custom quad that looks like a final fantasy airship!
You guys are a RIOT! and I love Flitetest Fans on FB... I learn new things everyday on there. You are right best darn people in one hive mind group.
nah man rotorriot is another RC chanel :P
but yeah Flitetest is so inspiring, bringing me back to the hobby tbh
Good idea, with the right tuning, i bet you can make an electric sound like a gasser :)
There going to be a lot more noise at Flite Fest this year! I can't wait to try it!
lol, playing cards flicking the spokes of the bike, did that as a kid.

Brilliant! Such a throwback!
That's simple and amazing, I was just thinking if you put two tabs on the motor opposite sides will sound like 2 stroke, If you put just one, that's a four stroke haha!
Nice to see the old intro and outro on this video!
haha that mustang sounded great! Loved those chairs too
Why does this make me so happy
That's just awesome! What about 3 more skewers (top, bottom, and both sides)? Wouldn't that make it sound smoother? It's all about timing. I will have to try it.
The cans in the wheel! OMG 90's throwback lol
And why am I smiling!?! lol! love it!
what an awesome idea. Try with a few more skewers ...might give it more of a multi-cylinder sound...
you guys should totally make a working VTOL jet I would love to see that!
Classic! That's one way to get rid of the electric whine.
IDEA!!! You know the Stuka Dive Bombers from WWII? do that.
just make something that will send shivers down your spine.
You guys should do a controlled bom drop
Hello guys and lady's of flitetest,
Josh you've got the best chair :P because it's a royal color (the dutch royal color) .
The Royal Throne, with lumbar support ;)
Nice thing to do with the tape, maybe next time with 2 or more wooden toothpicks/scewers (more cylinders)
Keep going the good work guys\womens love the channel for years now,and hope many more to come.

Sweet plain!!
👍👍👍
I have a revision! Put the skewer on the motor and the tape on the plane so that there is less resistance on the motor! :D
Heheheh...much fun! Thanks for the video and Happy Flying!
Hears "coolest chairs"
BUT CAN YOU DO THIS!?
That is stupidly awesome!!
I love it .. Sounds like gas engine .. very epic.. so sweet.

BruceM
Awesome video👍👍👍🎄
7:00 never seen Josh so happy before!
This is a cool sound ! Good job !
Do you think I Should get the Baby Hawk Pnp or Bnf
Wow its sounds like gas engine plane..... Really cool idea
How long before the bbq skewers chew through a plastic prop, tho?!?
Awesome!
Arley Simpson
I believe they used tape strips on the brushless motor and that was what was rubbing against the skewers.
amazing! are you guys coming to seff this year?
What about vibration?
When are you going to make more EDF planes?
Amazingly, I really like this mod!
Where are the plans for that p4 phantom in the back, it looks killer
Grandi, quando venite in Italia.🙌🛩🙋
could try experimenting with where the skewer is placed, how long it is...how tightly it's secured at the back end, there's definitely going to be a certain resonance that will maximize the sound, using the body as a sound chamber....
Make a lower KV motor sound like a Moki and I’m sold forever.
If you put the skewer on a servo, a bit like a bomb release, then you could toggle it in flight! Possibly even change the note or volume
Do you guys happen to have any Binford tools?
That’s the first, and likely last time I’ll ever hear a RC Plane sounding like a 13B Rotary engine
My dad put cards on my wheels when I was younger, I'm 14 now... Ima go put cards on my BMX bike after I watch the rest if the video lol
Man.. Those days where great, trying to put as much cards and clothepins as i could and "drive" my neighbours mad :D
Possibly try a tiny cutout on one of the props so the skewer only hits one blade, this will half the frequency of the sound, it seams a little too fast/high pitched at full speed.
LOL!! Someone needs to try this at a field where gassers aren't allowed for a good laugh..;)

Are you guys going to Oshkosh this year?
You are AWESOME!!!
I wonder if you could tune the sound to make different engine types sound
Sooo cool and simple!!!
Awesome lads, do you have plans for a foam board mustang on your website?
Awesome effect
You could easily make it sound different by placing more skewers in various locations for the tape to hit
Hi guys, i wish you were in England. I learn so much from your vids. Have you tested Hobbyking skipper xl,

thats a good idea do some more 3d printing stuff
Thats so Cool! Putting it on all my airplnes!
Awesome video guys; when are you gonna fly Ben's F-4??
"The Swede did the bomb thing to me already" lmao
Next time a stranger ask me if my electric plane I am flying is a gas plane power plane. I will reply yes lol.
Thank you guys for making my day...i laughed my *ss out...keep it up!
what video did david blow up joshs plane? i can't remember which one it was
hellship rc I think it was one with the Spitfire
Awesome guys.
What a great idea! The 7 people who disliked this video were clearly so excited to go try it they accidentally hit the wrong button...
Will try this for sure
I want some help .I musing a 30amp esc with 1400kv motor and 7.4v lipo battery. When I switch this on the esc keeps on beeping but the motor won't run.
Flite fest is about to become a lot louder than normal.....
Ohhh yes! Here i come ohio!!!
The Piper Enforcer returns ! It definitely sounds like a gasser!
Do it with some cards like two opposites of the motor and They are swept back maybe it would help strength wise and sound even better
Cool Video, Keep up the good work!
