hey candle man. A few suggestions for you to do (this time or if you ever do another project in the future). 1- Drill some holes in the top of the boiler cupboard to let heat escape/air circulate/prevent any future warping/etc. 2- It really is so much easier to have your floor finished before fitting your items. You really want your toilet/pedestals/bath/cupboard etc sitting on top of the finished flooring (i suspect you are doing some kind of resin/screed). It looks a lot better and also means that at some point in the future if one of these items has to be removed or replaced, then it's easily done. Fitting them now on to the bare floor, just to remove them and refit them after finishing the floor, will mean the pipes/screw fittings etc are all slightly off. A basin should be resting on the pedestal and screwed to the wall! Always think in regard to future servicing. 3- Regarding your towel rail radiators, better planning would have served you well :P . Its unfortunate that there is no room to raise them slightly higher without leaving screw holes behind, but it would probably look better to have equal height boxing at both radiators, than have a couple screw holes you could fill with a suitable coloured grout/silicone. 4- Boxing in always looks so much better if its all at the same height. That also makes it easier to install as you can use longer pieces of wood, rather than joining so many short pieces together. Again, so much easier to do when no objects (pedestal/toilet/etc) in the way. I'm not having a go :) Just a few suggestions. We all learn from each other, and from past experiences. ps. sort your sound out please. intro is really loud compared to you yapping away. sometimes i can hardly hear what you are saying so i turn up the volume to max, then all of a sudden you are too loud lol pps. if you are going to use some sort of resin on your floor, make sure you ain't ever gonna need under the floor :P
wallingtonfilming The Candle man Hi again, was it marine ply or the Chinese type, just doing my bathroom floor after taking up old floor boards. Using 18 mm ply Chinese type, just wondered if you know if this will be ok, I am tiling the floor. Thanks.
Probably finished your bathroom now but for what it's worth TRVs on bathroom radiators are just as happy substituted with manual radiator valves which are obviously a lot slimmer and smaller.Strictly speaking you should have TRVs on every rad apart from one lock shield one but who is checking. ?given the small amount of heat that comes out of those chrome rads anyway I doubt you will ever want to turn them down on the TRVs . The silver paint on the radiator pipes looks nicely done but I wouldn't have painted the copper pipe coming out of the floor to the toilet for example .it means if you ever need to put a new isolation valve on or change the pipework all that paint needs scraping off.And if you're worried about the copper corroding through piss splashes you can put some chrome plastic pipe cover over it. or sit down on the bog instead of spraying everywhere like a fucking animal!
Keep up the excellent job !! Lovin' it!
