Fabulous series with superb cast, the superlative writing talent of Victoria Wood and the genius comic touch of Julie Walters. Such a shame there were only 3 series. You just wanted more of this comedy gem.

Victoria Woods is Amazing, she can make you laugh and break your heart at the same; her comedic timing reminds me of a seasoned vaudevillian (very quick, and amazingly timed ). she's a great actor, writer, singer, comic...An English National Treasure!! DINNERLADIESHQ...Thanks so much for sharing this with us (across the pond!!)

Will I EVER be able to watch this episode without all the snotty tears when she says, "I thought you didn't like me"?

@@bethshields4903 4 years later - I watched this episode again a month ago and I still cried. Every time. It's such a beautiful moment, and Victoria Wood was such a gifted actor, writer, comedian, musician, and composer - such an emotional powerhouse, and she used all her gifts to portray the very ordinary life of a very ordinary person with feelings that we can all relate to. It's like Desmond and Molly Jones in the Beatles' Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da - a celebration of the beauty in absolutely ordinary people, who are extraordinary once you get to know them.
Would it surprise you to know I'm a big 57 yo man in the US? This emotionality is kinda weird culturally, but it means I'm human, so yeah, I'll take it and be proud of that. 🙂

It's SO good that all of the staff stood up decisively for Bren against that foul maternal unit of hers (superb acting, rotten character).
