Awesome Footage and Awesome Song. This was the US Navy coming home in 1945 - having done all that could be done to win the Second World War and usher in the greatest period of Peace, Prosperity and Freedom the World has known. Thanks to the RN, RAN and RCN too. Now we are going back to Marxism, Victim-hood and Extremism and every other discredited idea that the ignorant can drum up. Lets hope we have the sense to drop those ideas in the gutter soon.

I would venture to say it is the OFFICIAL march of the US Navy. All recruits march to it.

Um, I hate to break this to you, but there's nothing unofficial about this song. It might not be designated as an "official march", but it is the official Service Song of the U.S. Navy, at the same level as "The Army Goes Rolling Along", "Marines' Hymn" (not J.P. Sousa's "Semper Fidelis"), "The U.S. Air Force" (a.k.a. "Wild Blue Yonder"), and "Semper Paratus".

It's not the official USN march since there is already one (Eternal Father). It occupies the same position as "Los Nibelungos" is to the Chilean Navy (it's that service's unofficial march despite there having one named "Brazos e Cenir")...

@@theotherohlourdespadua1131 - "Eternal Father, Strong to Save" is a hymn, not a march. It's only sung during solemn, religious occasions and is not a song that every Sailor is expected to know.
Besides, comparing usage of songs between countries is a fool's errand because different countries have different cultures, especially among their militaries.

@@theotherohlourdespadua1131 It is the official marching song of the USN. Every recruit that goes through basic at Great Lakes and every plebe at Anapoles is required to memorize the lyrics and sing it while marching.
