    Thanks so much for this super helpful video! I have exactly the same problem with streaking on a dresser I’m currently working on. I’ve been searching for days for a solution as well as why it happened (three more pieces to go in this paint color) so I don’t make the same mistake. This is a tremendous help! Again, thanks! ❤

    Why do you mist with water each time you apply a coat? I’ve never seen this technique.

    • @Happyspacediys
      @Happyspacediys  7 месяцев назад

      Hi there! It's pretty common to do if you are using a paint brush and not a sprayer. The misting of water helps move the paint around, uses less paint and promotes an even finish. Hope this helps! 😊

    Your piece turned out great! Just out of curiosity why did you use chalk paint if you were just going to sand it though? I don't think I've ever sanded when using chalk paint just when I use regular paint. Also, why all the water? Again dresser did turn out nice, good job!

    • @Happyspacediys
      @Happyspacediys  3 года назад +2

      Aww thank you! ❤ With chalk paint you can do both. Sanding between coats helps with a smoother application and finish. 😃 The part where I sanded all the way through was because of the nasty bump, so kinda had to start all over. 🤦‍♀️ The water when applying chalk paint helps with application and makes your chalk paint last longer! 😄 Hope this helps! Thank you for watching 🤗💕

    Please HELP! I just painted our dining room table with Rustoleum Chalked paint in linen white and applied one coat of the matte top coat. The paint dried for 24 hours before applying the top coat, but as I was applying it I noticed the paint starting coming off on some edges 🤦🏻‍♀️ Also I see some small bubbles and black lint/fuzz (not good when the paint is white 😫). And to top it all off (pun intended 😝), I see some uneven spots where the top coat kinda pulled. What can I do to fix these problems since I already applied the top coat? I’m really starting to dislike chalked paint 😥 Everyone talks about how easy it is to work with it, but this is my 3rd project using it and I just keep running into problems. The end product never looks great 😏😒

      Oh no!! 😱 I am so sorry that happened 🥺 that honestly sounds so frustrating so I understand completely! I've been there!! Please don't give up though 🤗
      Ok, so there could be a few reasons why you're experiencing some of these issues. Did you sand your table before laying down the paint? Giving our pieces a light scuff sand helps the paint stick so you won't run into lifting. Can I ask what did you apply your top coat with?
      And it was a poly top coat correct?
      If you've done all 3 projects with this Rustoleum chalk paint, I would suggest trying another brand 😊 I've got a list If you'd like! 😂
      When problems occur with our paint projects what it usually comes down to is how our furniture piece is prepped and what we use to apply our products. I have had so many issues with top coats because I wasn't applying it correctly.
      Unfortunately I always sanded it down a little and repainted and tried again. But I got it eventually! And you can too ❤
      I hope this helps! You can send me pics on my Instagram account to dive in further! My next video (today hopefully) I use a special tool for top coat! And it works great for paint too!! It will give you smooth even coverage. Just kind of hard to explain 😂 but keep your eyes out for that, honestly it's what I would use to tackle a dining room table 😊

    I used the black chalk paint and sealed it with the chalk top coat spray. Yet for some reason there are white spikes and white Strikes when I try to brush it away with my hand. I can't figure out why.

    • @Happyspacediys
      @Happyspacediys  2 года назад

      Yikes! That sounds frustrating. I'm so sorry!! 😬 I don't really use top coat spray for dressers so I'm unfamiliar with that. The times I usually get a residue I'll buff it out with a lint free cloth similar in color to what I painted.

    I have an issue with some bubbling. I applied some varathane poly, and saw a little bubbling, so I sanded it some, and decided to put some more paint down. Upon putting another layer of paint down, I started to get quite a bit of bubbling. The paint I used was Annie Sloan, and it is a few years old, but it still looks usable and I hadn’t had any issues on the coats before I put down the poly. Any thoughts?

    • @Happyspacediys
      @Happyspacediys  2 года назад

      Is it an oil based poly or is it a water based poly? Also are they tiny bubbles in the poly or larger in size, like lifting from the paint?

    • @JoeBauers8
      @JoeBauers8 2 года назад +1

      @@Happyspacediys it’s water based. The bubbles are pretty small, maybe around a millimeter, give or take, and pretty numerous. They have lifted off of the layer below.

    • @Happyspacediys
      @Happyspacediys  2 года назад +1

      @@JoeBauers8 ok so it sounds like it's air bubbles. Poly can be a bit tricky with application. I have a tool I like to use that cost a few dollars. I use it in my white dresser video. I also give some pointers in the Facebook makeover vid, it's a tan/brown looking dresser. I've had the small bubbles happen to me before and found a application process that works which I show in these videos. I hope this helps! Also you shouldn't have to sand down all the way just enough to get them out 👍

      I tried painting something else with a different brand of paint, and the little bubbles returned. I didn’t apply the poly yet either. This time the surface was glass. Is it possible that the paint is drying while I still try to spread it? I have a tendency to get some paint on my brush and spread it as much as I can. I also don’t use water on my brush or spray while I paint.

    • @Happyspacediys
      @Happyspacediys  2 года назад +1

      It's black paint on real wood. Cleaning and sanding was enough prime for this particular project. It just depends on the piece, look and paint color on if I personally use a paint primer. Hope this helps! 🙌
