- Hey Kale Sandwichers! Today we present to you vegan spring rolls! These are definitely one of our favourite finger foods and they are so easy to make. Sometimes we just make the filling and eat it on it's own like a Filipino noodle dish called Pancit Bihon. But who can resist fresh crispy golden spring rolls?
Ingredients
100 gr cornstarch noodles*
1 cup of vegan ground round (optional)
1 large onion finely diced
3 cups of shredded cabbage
2 cups of shredded/ grated carrot
1 tbsp finely minced ginger
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
30 spring roll wrappers
vegetable oil for frying
dipping sauce of your choice (we like sweet chili sauce)
*If you use the brand we used (Super Q Golden Bihon) it's one square

ROFLMAO at the beginning! I just discovered your channel, you guys are awesome.
Lol, you really captured the essence of what it's like to order food at a Chinese restaurant
We were going for realism, hopefully that all translated well :)
where did you guys find the wrappers? I can't find any without egg!
We just get them at our local Asian supermarket. We get a brand called Spring Home, it's pretty good and it's never failed us for taste!
my daughter she's can not eat peanut she's allergic what I can substitute whit that.
king carrot
whats a ground round what is made up
It's a soy based product with some spices in it to mimic a beef flavour.
LMAO THE FIRST 50 SECONDS IS SO ACCURATE
Hey Kale Sandwich Show! New sub here =) That intro is the reason why I rarely trust dining at Chinese or Viet restaurants because I've been hit WAY too many times with meat =/ These spring rolls look BOMB! Gentle but tight totally makes sense XD But also that's what she said.
Being hit with meat.... that sounds so scary! I also make vegan vids if you ever wanna check them out!
Classic Asian restaurant scenario! Lmao😂
I've bn looking 4 a simple yet delish Vegan s'roll recipe, tnx👌.
& as always...ur kinda hilarious!👍💋💞✌
Intro had me DYING!!!
I feel like that carrot was the proper size. All the others are inferior
Alan Norman LOL!
I’m still binge watching, it’s been at least a few hours, lol 😂! I’m obsessed!!!! Why don’t you have a bizzilion subscribers?!!!!! Thank you for sharing these great recipes and making it fun! Thank you for your activism in the form of food! Cruelty free, compassionate food👏🏼❤️👏🏼
I used kelp noodles instead of cornstarch. Also in a fresh spring roll I used the kelp noodles. They turned out terrific.
!!! looks super good 😍 need to go to an international market bc i can never find those wraps in walmart!!
I became a vegan 3 months ago, and users like you are equipping me with the necessary knowledge to cook for myself for 90% of my consumption with this diet / way of being, thank you very much for this.
That intro was hysterical!!
Veronica Salas thank you :)
I found you through Mommytang - I really like your videos. Love your calmness and sense of humor - so sweet. What is the sauce you are using here??
Hi Laura! Thanks for checking out so many of our videos! This was a regular store bought Thai sweet chili sauce... the brand we like to use is called Mae Ploy.
The Kale Sandwich Show Ok thank you so much 😊 And you are welcome, I love your shows - thank you both for making them. ❤️
Those look awesome. Can you bake instead of fry? I'm trying not to use so much oil.
We've never tried baking spring rolls before but we've seen recipes where people brush them with a thin layer of oil before baking. Not sure how they will turn out, we'll have to give it a try one day. If you try baked spring rolls, let us know how it goes!
+The Kale Sandwich Show thanks I will. Mommytang mentioned y'all on her channel and your recipes look great. Have a great day
+didi1770 It is just a store bought Thai sweet chili sauce. Some have fish sauce in the ingredients so make sure you check that out!
I'm so going to try this!! Thank You for the recipe.
Your Videos are the most relaxing thing ever with the music and your weird personalities in the middle
(of course the recipes are top notch too)
Thanks so much
I was going to say we use that for Pancit but then I saw you said that it tastes like Pancit lol.
Great great recipe guys!! Cute intro also!! But, being a nurse I think the frying can go and maybe I will bake them in the oven and try that.... I don't do fried foods. That is why I wanted to make my own. Plant based says... the fat you eat is the fat you wear and I have enough fat on me... :(
I'm sorry @Carole Nelms, please don't follow that destructive theory. Fat is fine. It's important to have a healthy relationship with food. We get what we believe -even if we're not consciously aware of what we believe. Having a grateful appreciation for the food we eat may be the most important criteria for health. Beyond that, having a fundamentalistic approach about what's good or bad may do more harm than good. Plant-based is crucial for so many reasons, but we can't start demonising foods. Besides, there is no solid evidence that the fat you eat is the fat you wear. Many cuisines around the world use fat and the people are not fat; it is far more complicated than that. These two people in the video eat fat and are not fat. Please continue to eat your food, keep a healthy mind and self-image and watch everything else just fall into place! Trust me - I've been there :) Cheers! :)
Wow, I just love you guys. I love the weirdness. Can't get enough of you both GOING TO THE GRAM NOW.
Haha, thanks! We love you too! 😘
MAN>>> Love spring rolls. The tough this is trying to get the ingredients to make them here in Austin, TX. But I'm going to try this weekend! Thanks!
Hope you found the ingredients you needed to make spring rolls! Feel free to get creative with the filling and put any veggies or noodles you like!
I’ve been looking for this vegan recipe! Thank you guys
Hello I am a new viewer and subscriber and I love the two of you on camera. I was wondering what is the name of the spring roll wrappers that you are using? And or where can I purchase them? I can only find the one's that you have to place in water to soften. Thank you, I have also recently became a vegan and am look for food ideas.
Hello! Thanks for checking out our channel 😀 The brand of spring roll wrappers we used is called Spring Home. We live in Canada but they are available worldwide I believe.
I feel like you guys are going to blow up in a few months!!! Good luck!
New Sub!!!!
Thanks for subbing and KEEP ON VEEGANING✌️
Hahahah the green screen
I'm doing this for lunch, and people say vegan food is boring! It's not, this would taste so good I'd shit my self from excitement ( do NOT take that seriously ) and funny intro 👍
love the rolls. will make these, ive had problems in the past because i had no one to show me. this is the type of dish one needs not just read but see how things are done. proper!
Hopefully this helps :)

Love your recipe! I make vegan 🌱 videos and vlogs! Going to make some egg rolls vegan that is her soon! New sub!
Holy crap! The beginning had me cracking up!!!! It's so true, we just don't order spring rolls anymore, thank you for making this video 😻😻😻😻
Thank you, this recipe is so easy, I made them today and they're DELICIOUS!!!! I can't stop myself from eating them.👍👍👍👍👍
Can't wait to make these! Thanks so much!
Thank you for watching! Enjoy! :D
Just a funny story (pre-vegan, so this was years ago). There's a restaurant in my area called Yu's Manderin. Used to love them, super good food. Not vegan, though, so I don't eat there :( Their noodles might be vegan, so I've considered calling to ask and make sure then see if I can buy just the noodles and make my own noodle soup (that's what I always used to get) sans the seafood, but moving on:
Two items they sell are Jelly Fish and Sea Cucumber. First time I saw that, it was the weirdest thing i'd ever read. Didn't even realize people ate that. Anyway, one day when my boyfriend and I had gone, I decided, "You know what, I'm feeling adventurous. I'm going to order the Jelly Fish!" Still got my Noodle Soup just in case, though. When I told the waiter, he just stared at me a second and said, "are you sure? It's different." And I said, "I'm in the mood for different." He just sighed, wrote my order, said, "okay", and went away and didn't come back until he brought our order. So i tasted the Jelly fish and.......................the waiter hadn't lied to me. It was like chewing on a rubberband that had been marinated it cucumbers and red bell peppers. To this day, I'm still trying to figure out how Jelly Fish apparently became a Chinese delicacy.
OMG you guys you dont know how long I waited for your next recipe video! I was stalking you the other night and binge-watching your videos!
double thumbs up! My mouth seriously started to water when you took a bite and "crunch"... I will be trying these out.... and double dipping is fine when its just the two of you......
peace...
Hi guys!! Great Intro I loved it Lol! I love spring rolls those are amazing. will try your recipe. Thanks guys!!
I made these and they were delicious. Thanks for the great recipe :)! Oh, and HILARIOUS intro. Haha, new subbie
Clicked on the video because you were the only spring roll that was fried, subscribed for the descendents shirt 👌👌👌
I love to watch you 2.
The beginning it was hilarious!!😀😁
I love the sense of humor.
I will definitely try this recipe.
I so glad I founded your channel.
The intro is like every Chinese restaurant experience I've tried to have since going vegan. I have zero confidence they either know what I'm talking about or just plain lying to me, so I gave up trying to eat at Chinese places unless they're 100% vegan. Unfortunately, those places are far away from me. Thank goodness for great vegan Chinese recipes like this!
Oh no! I just scarfed down 2 spring rolls! Sealed with egg?! Eggy filling?! Oh no! I’m allergic to eggs, sugar, and dairy! When I say sugar, the only sweetener I can use is dates!
ive been watching your videos for like two hours i rrly like u guys ur funny and seem so nice o)-( AND THIS LOOKS BOMB
Now I can make lumpia from my pancit bihon! Thanks for the idea! Love the the Philippines!!!
Hi guys! thanks for replying. I will try to bake them and update you with the results. By the way, you are not weird, you're just so lovely!!!! Luisa xxx
Love you guys! Can you try giving gluten free alternative though? It would be much appreciated because I would love to try this!
Thank you :) You can use rice paper wraps instead of spring roll wrappers. They tend to get chewy if you let them sit too long after frying though so best to eat them ASAP after you fry them! Also, sub out the the soy sauce for tamari :D
Thank you!! awesome tips
Ive been following your channel i really love the dishes you make. A special request was wondering if you can make vegan hainese Chicken Rice along with chilli. Search for three months in youtube only manage to see one vegan chicken rice receipe and they didnt use any soya based mock stuff all was only mushroom and beans. Its so hard to get that one paticular receipe. Hope you will sometime make it. Happy chinese new year!!!
Thankyou
for sharing wonderful reicepes
They look delicious and surprisingly easy! Very funny intro haha. What do you guys do with the oil after?!? I would want to make these but the only thing I'm hesitant about is the amount of oil and I don't want to waste it!
We try to use only an inch of oil when we deep fry things... but yeah, you're right there is a lot of left over oil. Usually because the oil is used for non meat foods, it is still pretty clean after frying so we use it for cooking.
+The Kale Sandwich Show Thanks for replying! Ok sounds awesome. No wastage :-)
Yum! I'm going to try these as a baked version...looks delicious! Miss seeing your videos pop up, hope you are enjoying life :)
This is so fantastic! Chinese food is my favourite and it can be hard to find a Chinese restaurant that has vegan options, thanks for the recipes!
To prevent oil seeping into eggrolls, I patch up its holes w/ a paste made from besan (chickpea) flour + water. Fry immediately for an instant seal👌
YESSSSS THANK YOUUU!!! Dinner tonight bitchachos!!
That bit at the beginning had me crying over and over again. Just had to keep repeating it. Couldn’t stop laughing! Needed that. Thanks :) New sub here
You two are great. Easy but delicious recipes, nice music and you two work well together. Thank you.
Hahaha so good , yes I've had that reaction to my questions before , we have a large wonderful Asian community in Australia
Absolutely not true about the eggs in Vietnam. Vietnamese consider egg a meat, and you are not vegetarian if you eat them. They also rarely use milk or butter in ANY kind of food, so most vegetarian meals are naturally vegan. China is probably a different story.
You should add jicama in it next time! So good! Can you make another version with potato and curry flavor? I think that would be good too!
You guys ROCK! Thanks for all the awesome vegan recipes. Keep em coming.
In all the restaurants I worked in, cooked tofu is always on the same grill as meat, just like chicken wings with fries, sad but true
made them and turned out so good!!! everyone loved them. couldn't find the corn starch noodles you had instead i used rice sticks.i will try to bake them or use a air fryer next time Cuz I wanna make them more often. thanks for making this video !
Automatically subscribed when I saw the shirts. Can't wait to try the recipe.
What brand of ground round did you use? I'm newly vegan. Not sure which brand is best.
We used Yves ground round. We haven't really compared it to any other brands so we can't say it's the best but its pretty good. Also if you can't find ground round we like to take our favourite veggie burger and just crush that up in the frying pan and that too also makes a great ground round.
+The Kale Sandwich Show Sweet! Thank you, for replying! I love your videos! You two are great :))
I can totally relate to that intro haha. My first video was also a spring roll recipe but with other veggies and tofu. I am curious how they taste with the vegan ground round. For sure gonna trie and I subscribed because of the hilarious intro! 😂
but in my country after 6 month spring rolls are vegan, you'll see, when a new Chinese restaurant come to the city, the spring rolls are full of meat and they are delicious, after 3 month when they get regular clients the meat start to disappear and after 6 month they are just carrot and cabbage.
Lol! Great intro!
Love your channel I’m making these spring roles today, Yum!
Am going to make these rolls. If you say vegan,no meat, or vegetarian in restaursnts you will always get the dumbfounded look, and then they say what ever will get you to order something
That carrot is monstrous! Where on earth did you buy it? This looks so yummy and yet simple! Thanks for posting : )
NEW VIEWER & I LOVE IT🏆 THIS LOOKS SO YUMMY....This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Im so addicted to Spring Rolls & about to make them myself.
THANKS A MILLION❤
Just found your channel. Ive only been a vegan for a month. Can't wait to try some of your recipes
This clip is so funny I actually had that happen to me in a restaurant. Look forward to your recipe. You are fantastic.
I was literally just talking about spring rolls!!! Ahhh lol btw I love yalls weird haha.
U guys r funny weird, I like trying your cooking recipes, thanks for the entertainment as well
Can you freeze these? They look amazing, spring rolls are my favorite!
Your recipe videos are so cool, funny and well explained! Great job!
I have rice paper; is that ok to use? And I bought mung bean noodles; is that ok?
Just made these delicious. You guys are great.
Thanks so much :D We're glad you enjoyed them! They are always a hit in our household too :D
Any cooking recommendations if I want to oven bake these instead? Thanks!
Sorry, we don't have much experience in baking these so we're not sure how they will turn out. We thinks you may need to spread a layer of oil over them. Otherwise please let us know if you do try we'd be very interested to know how they turn out. Thanks!
Thanks a lot! Side note! Been making your pizza dough now for the last two days. I used your kimchi recipe as a topping and the other side vegan cashew cheese with onion and garlic. Thanks for the ideas!
So this makes 30 of them? Can I freeze them?
Yes, you can freeze them before or after frying. To save time we like to cook a big batch at the same time, let them cool and then freeze them. To reheat, you just defrost in the fridge a few hours and pop them in an oven at about 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until heated thoroughly. If you freeze them before frying, fry from frozen until golden brown as usual, it may take a few minutes extra.
I so need to make this! Just need to find those noodles I have seen those wrappers at my local groceries store. Oh and I seen the new dairy free Ben and Jerrys at my local Walmart I was shocked to see they had then and all 3 kinds too! Yay! The Chococlate fudge was always my favourite and now I get to enjoy it again!
I enjoy watching your show! Your cooking is easy and you two are very funny and cute!
I really like the music choice in this video c: ~
Thank you, feel free to check out his tunes on soundcloud :)
