Best way to remove lens from headlight is put it in the box and use hairdryer to create a heat box and then the headlight you heart equally everywhere and you just pull the length of and that’s it
I put them in oven with 60 degrees... easy to disasamble... and be quick .. the glue is Soft and you need only some New one... and seals well again... takes 3 minutes when it is warm out of the oven
Thank you very much for this video mate. Really helped me replace one of my lenses. Gotta say....pr&@k of a job but rewarding. Glad I only needed to do one!
A JOB WELL DONE, WHAT STATE ARE YOU AND I HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE AND AM LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO INSTALL MINE'S WITH CAUTION AND PROFESSIONALISM. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
I bough them from ebay or amazon ill be hones and i try to get the cheapest ones. But i guess they were all around the same price. Mine fit perfectly but keep in mind all the glue and stuff wont be visible so you will be ok even if they dont fit perfectly glue will go the job.
hi, congratulations on your tutorial, you did a great job! i would like to do it on my car too .. i wanted to ask you what kind of glue did you use to seal the headlight .. if you can give me the product description ..
Thnk you very much and thanks for watching. I used a weather strip adhesive from oreylis autoparts. @@thebudgetpro8181 hello, sorry if I still disturb you, but the link you put is no longer valid .. the product is not indicated .. then you don't write me the name of the product .. and the company that produces it .. a greeting Alan.
Ill be honest i was kind of on a budget i just try to find the cheapest ones on ebay based on reviews. When i bought the they were like $120 dollars pair. now i think you can get them for like $70 dollars pair
They will be pretty much the same thing except that on the passenger side you habe the the wiper water canister. Wich makes it a little dificult to take off
No you dont remove the water canister. You will need to remove the headlight plastic bracket behind the headlight. Once you start removing you will kind of figure out.
Depends on model, the 4.8 driver side was significantly worse with oil cooler in the way. Driver side took about 2 hrs replacement and passenger 1 hr for me.
BavarianConnect the weather strip glue is working good so far. I have wash the car several times and no condensation. I'll keep update as we start getting rain here in California.
Design Agency thanks for the support! well I'll be honest driver side which I did first took one full day just because I have never work on bmw cars so I was being careful not to break things and figuring out what to take off. Then passenger side prob took me 3 to 4 hours. If you have more questions let me know. 👍
I bought them on amazon. Just type ( bmw e70 lenses ) and a lot will pop up. I don't have a link for the specific seller I got them from but I just tried to get the cheapest ones and didn't have any issues with fitment.
mpatxd Yes actually have some comments about that. I would recommend the butyl glue it will come in a roll. The advantage of that glue is that it is easier to work with you put it on you headlight heat it up and it will stick making good seal. The weather strip glue I used I bought it on oreilys for like 8 bucks and only use like half of it and haven't have condensation issues. Hope my responses are helpful.
I dont understand why you need to cut it off? it wouldn't pop off like it pop on because of the glue? i guess solvent is hard to penetrate it for release without damage the lights
Yeah the glue is a hard disolvent glue it basically melt the to materials together and wont pop off if you het it up. And if you heat it up too much you could potentially damage the soft rubber of the housing. That was my reason for cutting them thanks for watching 👍
The most difficulty is trying to get the headlight out pass the washer fluid tank on the passenger side. Too bad your camera failed to record it. You didn't say if removing the bracket under the headlight helped either.
Very good explanation and demonstration. I will consider doing my own since watching you.
Thanks for watching and sure you will get it done. First is a little harder but on the second one goes easier.
You have shown the best way of taking the X5 headlight out. Thank you very much my friend.❤👍👍👍
This is the best video I've find on this. Thanks! Easiest and fastest way.

when you say you should have bought some glue from amazon, which glue are you referring to?
Jose Ruiz it a roll of (butyl glue) it's cheap and more design for headlight retrofit. You can warm it up and reused it on the headlight.
Help me a lot, thanks amigo
Vlad Vasilivich glad it help . Working on making the review video after a couple months with rain and all that. Thanks for watching

Thanks for sharing this video. Awesome job you did. By the way, where did you buy your X6 lenses from?
Its an X5 lens and you can get them on eBay

They will be pretty much the same thing except that on the passenger side you habe the the wiper water canister. Wich makes it a little dificult to take off

What kind electric saw is that?
Its an oscillating tool with a wood blade.
How did the glue hold up? Any condensation after install?

I did this. But only lasted 6mths even with uv ppf. Might have to use 3m ppf next time instead of the cheap ebay stuff 😢
what exactly happened in 6 months ?

Y’all u do not have to take the tires off if u got 18 inch rims just turn tire to take out
Probably a lot cheaper than new headlights.
95% cheaper

Rubbing compound easier
There’s really no need for this butchery, just wet sand the lenses then polish & seal. The new lenses will fade with time too..
Once lenses are broken or yellow sun burn you wont be able to leave them like new quality no matter how many times you wet sand them and polish them
You don't have this car. Mine is totally cracked, already done sanding, no use.
Great Job!
