    This was a beautiful, slushy and bluebird day in Perisher Australia, perfect for trying new tricks and still plenty of speed for hitting the large jump line. It has been quite a while since I hit jumps this size, and it was probably the most fun I had the whole trip! Some of the things I was keeping in mind while riding these jumps was making sure I had enough speed, being confident while approaching the feature, and remembering to pull my knees up to my chest if I felt like I may be coming up a little short. I think the best way to figure out the speed for a new jump is to just talk to some people who have already been riding it to get an idea, or even follow someone in if they will let you to match their speed. Remember that the landings on bigger jumps tend to be pretty long so it is better to air on the side of going a little too fast rather than coming up too short, if you do land on the knuckle it doesn't really hurt too bad but you do want to avoid landing on the flat deck of the jump. Let me know if you guys are planning on hitting some larger jumps this season down in the comments! Thanks for watching.

    Had an awesome day meeting you guys. Had so much fun following you into that back 3 meth too. Helped me see how much speed you gotta get to hit that thing. Full commitment tj. Yewww. Would have loved to see some of the clips you got with Casey though especially that follow you did for him when you went off it with him. That looked epic from up top. Keep shredding homie.

    Kevin and TJ, Im from Australia we are coming to whistler in January what runs would you think would be the best for my daughter who is better than a beginner who can link turns but not a intermediate rider. She can ride Perisher top to bottom, and Bluecow summit and is able to ride down Zali's slowly.

    If you have to much speed and you might overshoot make your body less aerodynamic to slow down in the air. While maintaining balance of course. David Jones has talked about this technique.

    • @dingomatic
      @dingomatic 5 лет назад +1

      +1 IMO better to overshoot and create drag mid-flight to control landing distance vs undershoot and bite the knuckle (or table..yikes)

      Off season training dude, I'm 40 (tomorrow!) ....spend time in the summer reinforcing the ligaments and muscles in your joints if you're not already.... I find doing squats on a balance board helps me a ton! ;-)

    • @getnautical9579
      @getnautical9579 5 лет назад +1

      I do all that. I work out, I stretch, I eat right. My body had just been through the ringer. Pins, dislocations, breaks etc. time and fun has taken its toll but I’m ok with that. Just wishful thinking for more. Most my riding now is teaching my 3 and 9 year old to ski and snowboard. Maybe this year I’ll go for the xl line again though at carinthia

    • @TheBoarder360
      @TheBoarder360 5 лет назад

      Get Nautical fair play man, I’ve been lucky despite the mileage.. no lower body dislocations and only the one break.. have a great season!

    No mention in "TJ"s Gear" of what brand of underpants those were. Maybe invest in some suspenders, unless you really like having a cold, wet arse from that slushy snow?
