British weather, i remeber going cycling in shorts sunny may morning, snow in the afternoon, fortunately had my kit so was prepared, even in middle of city used kit oap fell over in rain and couldnt move, my gear helped protect her untill ambulance arrived,
Well done, mate... Loved the fly by- I'm seldom fast enough to get a good shot like that when the Raptors fly over here, though I have gotten a few shots, none as clear as that.. At the beginning I found myself looking for bear and moose on the hill behind you- Pure auto-habit!. ...The mountain terrain similarities of my area of Alaska and the UK mountains is uncanny!
Love it, did my ML training and assessment in NWales, was always great to watch the jets going down the valleys, Tryfan is my favourite, at the start you look up, half way up and it’s eye level and from the top you look down on them. Plus you got the Adam and Eve confidence test
Great vid as always. I watched this and then the RUclips algorithm served me “Pathfinder Platoon - documentary “The Phantom Platoon””. Is it me or at around 3:45 in there’s a chap who bears a striking resemblance… he proceeds to walk through a river without his neoprene socks 😉
Good video, conditions went downhill for a while there. Congrats Tom, you know you have reached the the top on RUclips when they lay on your very own Fly Past at the end of a video..😄
Always good tips and tricks, did a woodland camp lastnight, got caught in the rain but had a tarp set up with the bungees. Great quick and easy as your previous shorts 👌
Nothing better than being out there in nature away from everything and everyone great for our mental health too deffo 💪 love it , gunna get out there myself soon again love Snowdonia im there pretty regular as its not too far away for me ( Liverpool ) , cheers for this vid mate hope you are good 👍
You're such a squaddie bro skills and drills never leave you. I been out since 2001 I'm still carrying a rucky but not a Dart 35. Keep up the good vids mate! 🙂👍🏿
Super nice trip, Tom. Outstanding landscape and challenging conditions at times. That kind of weather always catches some folks out, thinking the summer will not be cold and wet.
Cool video as always , so how you managed to find rain in Wales who would have thought it !!! . That warning about be aware of where you are and sudden drops is very good advice . I very nearly went for a sudden drop in Ascension of all places when i was walking down Green Mountain off track . I had walked it plenty of times and knew my way but low cloud came in and i could see past my nose . Any way i slipped on a rock and after gracefully sitting down on my butt realised my boots were over hanging a drop . Some one up there was looking after me and after taking a moment managed to get down safely . It just shows you even on an Island in the south Atlantic where it's hot and good weather 99% of the time things can change really quick . Got the Merch by the way and top quality it is , ill drop you an email about that visit but it doesn't look good at the moment .
Behind and around our house when was a boy I used to play and explore out in the fields and wooded areas. One day I was at the border of our garden and the fields and a tornado came over REALLY fucking low. Like I don't think they would be aloud to do it anymore low and the noise! OMFG it must be so fun to fly those things through the mountains!
Some great info in there :) That's good to know the grid references might be on the posts. Is that the same with trig points? I did clock on the last one it was numbered up but didn't pay too much attention. When it comes to stopping for a rest and a refuel do you give yourself a time or distance limit for stopping?
They're not usually on Trig Points, but if you can't work out the Grid Reference of the Trig Point you're at you need to work harder at your map reading, ha ha! No, I don't have set time/distance for stopping, I just take a rest when needed, often after a hard ascent.
@@PreparedPathfinder Might be an OS ref to the trig point. Did all three on Kinder Scout the other week 🙂 Must keep the stops in mind, I find it hard just to stop and take a quick break then realise the energy runs low. That tent was awesome too, it great to save a kilo here and there
Wow stunning location. Looking for a light weight tent and like the look of the one your using. Is the 2000mm Hydrostatic head enough to keep you dry in our glorious Uk weather ? Many thanks and safe journeys 👍🏻
I use a little gas cooker like that and I really love it. I should say similar to that one, mine is a different brand. I don't get out as much as I'd like to. I turned 72 today. Happy BD to me. 😅. I'm a former Vietnam era Seabee.
Another great video Tom. Question on Car Parking. Did you park in a main car park (Pay) or just parked in a lay bye. Just a bit concerned about vehicle security mate. Top man.
Another great video Tom, walking the walk, whilst talking the talk - Mega..!! Couple of quick questions: which boots did you select for this trip, I could tell from the footage. Also what are those neoprene shoes and where did you get them? As you said, ideal camp area shoes.
Good stuff Tom, a bit of a limp? Injury still bothering you? I know you must have mentioned it before but I missed it, what is the flask? Is it a vacuum flask? 348
Yeah two years on crutches is going to have long term affects. The thermal mug is by Lifeventure; www.lifeventure.com/products/cookware/flip-top-thermal-mugs
While the fighter jets are cool, they used to fly low following the polden hills in somerset, going fast overhead of numerous farms, and loads of pregnant goats and sheep were kiiled as they would jump suddenly with the sound or the sonic booms and kill themselves and the kids
Hi, Great video Ta. I've just passed the LL and now working on the ML, so always on the look out for what other people are doing. Can I ask what that chest rig is. It looks handy?
Why do any of these in a mist ? Might as well stand in a sauna, done this on a clear, and you can see right out to sea on one side wonderful landscape on the other, in a mist It's just not worth the effort
Saved for watching after work.
Commenting to appease the algorithms

Nice to see Wales. green ,water and rain. I agree ,know where you are and don't walk off the end of the world.
That’s the advantage of 1-25 maps. Fences are mapped👍
Climbed Snowden Mt in 1989 with the boyscouts when living in England when my dad was stationed there in the Air Force, beautiful area

Super to see the F15E Strike Eagles low level. Awesome.
Absolutely, and the footage doesn’t do justice to how low and loud they were!
