    Hi Claire, been watching your vids for a while now. Father of 2 girls (11 and 8). We’ve gone camping and we go cooking in the woods often. If I manage to raise them to be even half as strong willed, independent and resourceful as you I think I’ll have done a good job. Thank you for your inspiration. Jason, Ireland.

    I really appreciate how you listen to your intuition, mood and general feel when deciding your routes. I don't understand people that force themselves and push to the most painful and excruciating limits to reach some arbitrary end point. The "look what I can do" people. I feel like one way is rooted in interconnectedness and the other ego.

    • @WildBeare
      @WildBeare  3 месяца назад +14

      I always have these ideas in my head of how it's gonna go.. often involving reaching summits and having crazy views and sunsets but so often it doesn't happen. I can see the appeal and it's a great feeling to reach that peak, but equally I like to potter about at my own pace (and avoid the people haha)
      You're so right about interconnectedness and intuition. Very little distance or elevation has to be gained to get back to nature. Some of my favourite trips are the ones that didn't go as planned where I ended up mooching in valleys 💚 thanks for sharing this with me :)

    You're living my best life as an 11 year old. I used to walk through the stream/river for miles around our home, through bushes and rocks and then camp out on my own (my parents thought I was staying at my friends). I'd make a fire, build my own shelter and have not much more than a pretty rubbish sleeping bag with me and a knife I was left from a great uncle, but I still think this was the most relaxed and happiest I've ever been.
    NB: The pic @ 14 mins of the tent at night with the mountains in the background is beautiful.

Only source of heat was a fire in a wheelbarrow that also cooked the food plus hot drinks. Remember the mornings of minus conditions where the caravan I lived in was frozen on the inside, never had a heated caravan just body heat. It's so nice in warm weather 😍 gotta have separate clothes that aren't treated with any bug stuff of course, ideally washed in non-toxic washing stuff too. The hiking sandals were great, loved not soaking my boots :D it's all slippery rock and pebbles of course though so got to take it nice & slow 💚

      Mmm I had to keep changing in and out of clothes, as my hiking clothes are treated with the anti-tick stuff, but can't wear that in the river of course as I don't want to contaminate the water, so I had a second set for the water, but I couldn't wear those in the long grass & ferns because the blood suckers would be all over me. So it was a bit time consuming. Thanks for sharing the trip with me :)

    Unbreakable spirit Claire! Terrain too rough to hike? No worries you make your way up a ankle twister river bottom and have a laugh the whole way! I agree with you on those stunning super hot water shoes. 🔥 Haha. I need my time in the woods regularly too. Healing negative ions from waterfalls and evergreens making us feel relaxed and a state of well being, yep I get it big time! My To Do list is Isle Royale in Lake Superior. Remote, rocky and beautiful with moose, wolves and loons. According to the show Unearthing America, it has copper mines so ancient that they may have supported the Bronze Age! Thanks for sharing, you're the best by far on YT!

    Southern Ontario here. Camp often in northern Ontario Provincial parks. Most of my camping times in my 70 years. I've seen black bears large & small, close and far, many times. A few moose... they are huge! Paddle canoes for years. Bike all over. But what truly creeps me out are spiders... I can't handle spiders, at all. And just the thought of ticks and leaches... though I've never seen either.
    And heights?!... forget it, can't do it, no reason to do it lol.

I been to England but never had any the chance of camping, but it looks very trying to camp in the thick grass and it seems you end up setting your tent up on it. Also It seems that you plan your hikes around some type of water way, awesome. I’ll have to come try it someday! Keep up the great trips and having fun.😊
