If you're looking for a "straight to the point" or "cut to the chase" kind of video.....this is not it. PLEASE do not watch or subscribe if you don't like detailed videos(seriously 😒). Im sure there are people on RUclips who share their tips in a way that suit your style of learning. Feel free to watch the videos that you like and leave the ones that you don't 😊.

Everyone who has really long hair says they didn’t cut their hair. The people that cut their hair a lot doesn’t really reach super long hair. And your hair looks healthy.

Yes so true. I gave myself a serious set back this year. I did 2 trims this year cutting off about 4 inches in total. I could've hit tailbone length already. So now I'm trying to just leave it alone.

I use to cut all the time ! Every four months. Was so scissor happy ! I didn’t realize as long as my ends are moisturized and seals in faux locks protected , there is not need to trim that consistently! The most I will trim is once a year and that’s if I really really really need it. I have not trimmed my hair in 16 months, I am retaining length and with hair grease I have no fairy knots !

Disclaimer: I am a (30+ years) licensed Cosmetologist. Ladies, when you document your daughters hair length, use a tape measure, document the date, her height, and age. Keep a log book, so that you have written documentation along with photos in the event that you need it for legal issues. There is No need to trim hair unless there is damage. If you happen to go to a salon, first make sure that you confirm that they have a posted current Cosmetologist License for your state. During your salon visit, do not allow the stylist to turn you away from the mirror while trimming your hair. (Best to have a friend go with you.) From the consult and start of your hair service, it might be best to get a clear understanding with your stylist, and advise her/him NOT to cut or trim your hair, Nor use any trimming tools/scissors/clippers/edgers/or razors during your hair service. Some stylist want to “up sale” salon service prices or practice a hair style on you by insisting that you need your ends trimmed. Usually the trim turns into a hair cut from telling you 1/2” then they actually cut 2”-3” or more off, which can be significant length. Hair grows an AVERAGE of 1/2” a month, 6” a year. (One half inch per month, six inches per year.) So if the hair stylist cuts 3” of hair off, it will take you 6 months to grow it back. This is why we don’t think our hair is growing, because we keep cutting off the growth progress or using tools and chemical processes that damage and cause hair breakage. And please don’t get a relaxer or color bleaching, because your hair may break off in no time. I know American society is not adapting to the notion that Black Women and Black Girls could have, or grow long hair, but this can become the norm, if we take better care of our “Crown” and grow it as long and healthy as we like. For some reason, we always feel the need to prove to strangers that “This Is My Real Hair” by consenting to strangers touching or pulling ours or our daughters hair. I ask that you NOT CONSENT. You Don’t need to prove ANYTHING to ANYONE! Do not let strangers touch your hair, or your daughters hair, because you don’t know what type of “Spirits/Energy” or germs they carry (including Covid-19) or other viruses on their hands or under nails.
I pray my fellow natural “Crown” Sisters stay encouraged, and stay the course, retaining or achieving long healthy hair. God Bless

Thank you so Much.😊 To Make a very long story short I Grew up in Lebanon Oregon which was a very rule area and NOT 1 single black family lived there. My brother and I were the only 2 black kids in the whole school. So of course I didn't can get a chance to learn how to braid My hair down I don't have a clue what a Co wash or two strand twist Even Mean or what 4A 4B 4C. Means🤦 I'm 34 year's old Now but in My teens to late 20s I would relax my hair every single MONTH!😬 And because of that I experience dryness extreme breakage all over the counter sink on my comb hands everywhere and from a child to Now an adult My hair has Never went past My Neck. OKAY Maybe this is turning into a long story lol bare with Please. UPDATE: just recently after being sick and tired of my 5 inch hair I seem to stay at that Length literally my whole life I got sick and tired of it and I'm pretty sure It got sick and tired of me lol so after watching a lot of RUclips videos in regards to black women's hair I finally decided to do the BIG CHOP so I chopped off All my relaxed hair down to less than then a inch on July 18th 2020 then around the middle of October I noticed about 3 inches of hair Growth and around that time I relaxed My hair again it was either the beginning of October or the middle of October of this year. Mind you I live in Las Vegas so after I noticed a little hair coming in I went straight to the beauty supply store and bought a pack of hair and some glue and applied it right on top of that freshly relaxed hair smh I'm guessing that can't be good but I just don't have a clue to what I'm doing 🤷‍♀️ moving forward I did the big chop just recently AGIAN NOVEMBER 9 TH so just a few days ago. So now I'm sitting here once again with less than one inch of hair and synthetic bundles with the glue sitting directly on top of it. From A to Z I don't have a clue what to do NEXT ugh😵 I would appreciate any advice you may have for Me. because I'm tired of wearing weaves wigs I just want to grow long HEALTHY Hair

@@michelleowens2737 Hello “Crown” Sister, thank you for your reply. After reading about your quest for healthy long hair, I realized that it is your impatience that gets you back to square-one, with more big-chops after relaxer damage. But don’t be discouraged dear Sister. I empathize with you about not wanting to wear wigs and weaves as a protective hairstyle, it does get old and expensive. I would suggest that if you don’t know how to braid your own hair, that you find a local hair braider in your area. Since your hair is short, you will need add-in hair, and smaller hair parts for cornrows*** (Do not get individual braids), as a start. As your hair grows; have the braider give you wider hair parts and fewer, and fewer cornrow braids. If you notice the hairline loosening from growth; get a hairline only braid touch-up, to prevent the loose braids from pulling and breakage. Make sure the braider does not braid too tight that you have scalp damage and breakage. Take your own hair oil (I want you to add Wild Grow Hair Oil®️ (the green bottle) to your hair care routine), so that you know what products are going onto your scalp and hair. If the braider insists on shampooing your hair; take your own shampoo also. Wait until you get home before you lightly apply the Sulfur 8®️ because of the strong smell. After you grow enough hair length to wear a natural hairstyle, stop paying for the braiding service. Make sure you tie down your braids with a silky scarf or DooRag®️at night to prevent hair breakage and dryness from the cotton pillowcase. Between shampoo days/weeks, spritz your braids with very warm water to maintain the moisture. Tame the hairline baby hairs and flyaway hairs with the ORS Olive Oil cream moisturizer I suggested. I want you to avoid using alcohol-based hair gels, that are very drying to our hair. Moreover, I suggest you consult with your Medical professional to recommend vitamins. When you take down your braids, document your hair growth, contact “Auntie Sondra C,” then follow the at home hair care regimen I suggested before you have new braids installed. Remember hair grows an average of one half inch per month/six inches per year. (Three inches every six months.) You could probably rock a cute natural hairstyle with three inches of hair length. Please stay away from relaxers from this point on. Just be a little patient, and you will look-back on this as another natural “Crown” learning experience. YOU CAN DO IT!
Set the example, be a testimonial of encouragement to your fellow “Crown” Sisters.
Please let me know if you need more assistance. God Bless

Have faith in JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR for HE SAVES ❗️
      *What is the Gospel?*
The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
      Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
      Romans 10:9
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
      JESUS CHRIST can come anytime!
Just Believe ❤️ Love you and GOD BLESS

    Disclaimer: I am a (30+ years) licensed Cosmetologist. Questions about Split-Ends. 9/29/2020
Ladies, there is NO need to cut your hair, unless it is damaged, or grows too long for you to manage or keep clean. Split-ends are considered damage, and may continue to split up the hair shaft if they are not attended to. I suggest that you gradually trim your ends and continue to baby them. I do not usually suggest a ‘big chop’ because this might be too traumatizing of a sudden change. Have a trusted person to look at your hair ends in “natural sunlight “ to give you a clear idea of how far up the split-ends go if you plan to trim your own ends. You may also ‘opt’ to ‘seal’ your ends with hair grease and tuck the ends using mini baby rubber-bands, and pay closer attention to your hair ends when you apply your conditioner. Your hair ends are the oldest part of the hair shaft and need more attention.
If you happen to go to a salon, first make sure that you confirm that they have a posted current Cosmetologist License for your state. During your salon visit, do not allow the stylist to turn you away from the mirror while trimming your hair. (Best to have a friend go with you.) From the consult and start of your hair service, it might be best to get a clear understanding with your stylist. If you choose not to have your hair trimmed or cut, advise her/him NOT to cut or trim your hair, Nor use any trimming tools/scissors/clippers/edgers/or razors during your hair service.
Use long established reputable hair care products. Find a good scalp cleansing shampoo for your hair type and use as needed; use warm water, seal in your hair moisture with your oil/hair grease of choice; massage and keep scalp moisturized and pliable with oil of your choice.
In my previous posts, I stated:
I would probably suggest that most natural “Crown” Sisters invest in a portable tabletop “Hair Steamer”, about $69 available on Amazon. Incorporate the use of the steamer in your regular hair care routine approximately every 2 weeks. The steam may help breakdown dirt, grim, “sugar”, salt, sand, and hair product buildup for before shampoo, or may moisturize the hair after shampoo by helping the hair cuticles absorb more water. This is like a tropical plant “greenhouse “ (humidity), affect for your hair. While vacationing on the Caribbean Island’s of Jamaica, Barbados, and St. Lucia, I noticed that the tropical plants were HUGE. These islands had humid greenhouse weather, full of trees and plants, you could not see the top of some of the trees because they were so, so, so, very tall, and the plant palm leaves were as wide as my hips!
As with any appliance or hair product, follow the manufacturers instructions.
Moreover, incorporate a hot oil treatment using your hair steamer, and allow the hair to cool-down after use. The cooling down may allow the hair cuticles to close before rinsing out the hot oil treatment products. Closing the cuticles may help protect your hair.
Stay away from high manipulation and high tension hairstyles; select an easy to maintain protective hairstyle; you may consider wearing beautiful headscarves as a protective alternative; no matter what style-protect your ends and hairline; cover your hair at night with a clean silk/satin scarf or sleep on a clean satin pillowcase. When needed, use finger combing (not fingernails), to detangle/or style as much as you can, but if you must use a comb, stay away from small-tooth combs/brushes. Try to avoid small-tooth blowdryer comb attachments or small sharp bristle blowdryer round brushes. These tools are notorious for snapping, splitting, breaking, and damaging hair. If you must use a blowdryer, try a comb-less blowdryer stretching technique, or opt for; a roller set with bonnet dryer or air-dry, consider air-drying braids or 2-strand twist, or wrapping your braid or ponytail with satin fabric to air-dry. You may want to purchase 2 sets of boar’s natural bristles brushes & wide-toothed combs with rounded teeth, wash & rinse one set, let air dry while you use the clean set, avoid brushing your hair too much when it is damp* to avoid split-ends and hair breakage.
Try to stay away from heat appliances, color bleaching, and relaxers that may cause hair damage and breakage. Depending on your hair health, it might be alright to silk press your hair a couple of times a year for special occasions, just not too often or too high of a heat, avoid multiple flat iron or marcel-iron passes, use a thermal hair protectant product, and use conditioner with your next shampoo.
Most of all, keep a healthy body and diet routine (consult your MD), hair usually reflects your diet and overall health. Don’t allow strangers to touch your hair or your children’s hair, you don’t know what kind of “Spirits/Energy ” or germs they carry (including Covid-19) or other viruses on their hands or under nails.
When documenting your hair or your daughters hair-growth-journey, use a tape measure, document the date, record your daughters height and age. Keep a log book (paper and/or virtual) so that you have written documentation, along with photos, in the event that you need it for legal issues.
I pray my fellow natural “Crown” Sisters stay encouraged, and stay the course, retaining or achieving long healthy hair. Please let me know if you need more information on natural hair care.
    God Bless

9:57 to 14:24 - back-to-back GREAT advice. I now put oil in my every-other-day cowashes (cheapie conditioner) and rinse after 10 mins under a heating cap. Hair just LOVES this. I have been doing GHE FOR YEARS as a natural but hated that ultra damp hair in the morning. Familiar with plastic cap moisturization because (and I age myself) I grew up with the Jerri Curl. BUT YOUR METHOD!!!!!!! I had to come back and comment. Not only does it save bed linen everywhere but hair is NOT ultra damp. YO! Thanks. My hair is living its best life.

Not lazy. Minimalist with our hair and not been a product junkie. That's how I am growing my tightly coiled hair out. Your doing simple natural things to your hair and it's flourishing. When I listen to the natural hair community for the first two and half years of following them I didn't see much growth. Then I started to watch channels that did not have my hair type but they had all the things that I wanted for my hair I started to be more successful with my own. We can learn from each other because this is not a one size fit all community even though a lot of people in the community behave like that. xoxo

I can relate to you so well on trimming for about 3 years I ha e bee. Sissor happy when it comes to trimming my hair. I had watched a few videos and got really good at cutting my hair but I was continuously cutting 1- 2 inches and my daughter kept saying do you realize your hair would probably be to butt y now if your little sissor happy self would stop cutting it off so often. So I promised myself to not cut my hair for a year even though I still cut it 3xs. So now I have not been cutting my hair and I'm starting to see the growth my bair is now right below my ra strap and I won't lie I'm dying to at least cut it straight across but now I'm committed to not cutting it and it is really thriving. I leave it braided or in twists unless I have somewhere to go or an event to attend which I then put it in a ball. However, after watching you and a lot of other DIYers I now have a good grip on growing my hair. I still watxh and listen for new tips because now my goal is to reach waist length so thank you for all the info you provide! I'm loving my natural hair more than ever before! I hardly ever put heat on my hair but I straighten it in December after at least 8 years of no heat and I was flabbergasted when I saw my length! So now I have a really good routine down! Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge it was very helpful in me finding my way and now I take pictures also and I cam definitly see the difference! Thanks again!!!

same ! I realized cutting my hair every three months like the natural hair gurus told me was making me believe my hair wasn’t growing either !

Greenhouse method does work. Just like when people had Jeri Curls. The hair grew like crazy. I put on plastic cap then wrap with a scarf etc, which gives a green house effect which is moisturizing. As for me with the plastic cap, I would do every two days. Heat comes from the scalp when wrapped.

Love ur hair girl, nice tips didn't watch all had to forward too much talking. Will love it if go straight to the point with less explanation.

    • @milami.
      @milami.  4 года назад +22

Honestly I talk a lot in general and did cut a lot of it out. I'm very new to social media in general and don't really post/have anything anywhere. I'm slowly trying to figure everything out and get used to putting myself out there. Me talking a lot is just something that I do (I can't help it)and it probably won't change. I completely understand if people don't want to watch/subscribe because of that and maybe I'm not the right fit for them. Thanks for watching!

At least it wasn't useless talking. She did an EXCELLENT JOB. She has taken the time and made the effort to provided as much detailed information to SUPPORT each of her tips so that we understand and appreciate them more. Unlike many other vloggers who just repeat stuff they've heard or make vague or sennsless statements.
