When I was growing up, everyone was a kinky, curly or coily natural until about age 16 when many of us then used a blow dryer or hot comb to straighten our hair. . We had edges, thickness and length. Our products were baby shampoo and Blue Magic grease, Sulfur 8, if you had dandruff. Tied it up at night with a greasy headscarf. My 3b/c hair thinned and didn't retain length when I "joined the natural movement" 15 years ago. I went back to what I grew up with -straight natural- and my hair is now back, healthy and practically waist length. I don't know about a chase method, titanium, ionic or knotless braids but we have to do what works for us.
Great video! I agree ! My hair doesn’t love braids . I guess it’s the friction and probably the professionals getting the hot water on my hair . Perm rods, flexi rods, and a silk press helps me. I have to stay on top my my trims too. Oh and not too many wash and goes or puffs.
My hair doesn’t love the fake braids in my hair I learned to just leave my hair alone and wrapped it up at night and get my hair done every other month only problem I have with my hair is the humidity since I lived in Texas
Informative video! My last silk press, I had retained so much length and my hair was the longest it’s ever been. I could do better with trims. With my hair being so fine what do you recommend? I would love to wear it but as soon as moisture hits it the straightness does not last
I’m glad it was helpful! I don’t know too much about caring for fine hair so I’d recommend doing research online & finding a natural hair stylist that you trust. There’s a possibility your hair is lacking moisture which may cause it to absorb a lot of moisture from the environment.
I have fine natural hair and I’m at bra strap length. Our hair is fragile and can break easily so not too much heat or manipulation. I had to stop getting sew ins and quick weaves, straighten or silk press once a month, regular trims, protein treatments, deep conditioners etc. I don’t apply heat again after that so you have to get comfortable with it not being bone straight all the time. But actually like a little texture it makes my hair look fuller. I also do heatless curls braid outs etc if I need to refresh. But she’s right if your hair is dry from not conditioning it well your silk press may revert easier or if you’re not heat trained yet
@@Sparkle-ey7iw I’ve been retaining length thank god. Haven’t used heat on my hair since November. I’m doing good with my deep conditioning and adding heat so it can penetrate! I need to do better with my trims can’t lie. I have low porosity hair so I finally have learned what it truly needs. My protective styles are wigs. How often do you moisturize your hair?
@@Sparkle-ey7iwfine hair here. I get it done every two weeks but after 5 days it is O.V. lol then I just do whatever to keep it looking ok. Been doing twist outs lately about mid back 😊
@@prettybrown6247I make sure to get a lot of moisture on wash day since I deep conditioning every time then add a very moisturizing leave in. I’ve been staying away from heat more often and doing braid outs and heatless curls so I’ll re moisturize once a week or once every two weeks and oil and massage my scalp once and again on wash day
Sounds like hair twins! My hair is colored. As of April last time was September 2022. My hair NEVER stays for 2 weeks but I go to a stylist every 2 weeks. About to do everything myself except blow dry and flat iron. I don’t like my hair combed without finger detangling first
I do low maintenance styles on my own hair like a loose bun/ponytail, claw clip style or half up-half down. You can also do braid outs to disguise frizz from warmer, more humid weather.
I live in SoCal so the weather is mild in the summer & allows me to still wear my natural hair straightened. But I also like protective styles like u part wigs & clip ins!
Any length hair is gorgeous with a good trim.

I agree u-parts are the clutch. I wear them sparingly, with heavily moisturized, 2 strand twist underneath. My hair has been growing like a weed. 🙌🏾
They really are! I love to switch it up with a u part & still maintain the health of my hair. Thanks for watching & commenting 🫶🏾

Me watching this video with Locs taking notes to share at my next girl's night in 😊
Aww, I appreciate the support sis! 🥰 Yes, please pass the wisdom! 🫶🏾

Any recommendations on summer styling without wigs/weaves/braids?

It looks so good and healthy 😍 Retraining my hair since postpartum hair loss! But all of this is key! ❤ Thoroughly enjoyed!
Thank you sis! I wish you the best on your healthy hair journey ❤️
So you straighten your hair every 2 weeks?
If you do jet black rinses, do you dye your clip ins/ u parts?
You're super pretty!
Thank you 🫶🏾

Do you work out?
Now that's a cute hair! So stylish and gorgeous ❤️
