When West End Girl first came out, I immediately fell in love with this genius SynthPop duo. It was so fresh and different. When they released Love Comes Quickly as the second single, I knew I would be a fan. And I’ve been listening to them, all their releases since. They have too many masterpieces to name, but this will have to be my favourite. It’s just perfect. The trumpet or clarinet sound towards the end, which is more prominent in the 12” version, was hauntingly beautiful. Listening to it now more than 35 years later, it’s almost heart-achingly nostalgic. Pet Shop Boys, it’s been a pleasurable and memorable musical journey ❤

Music and lyrics are both kinda haunting. You can tell there's this sort of paradoxically-threatening-yet-hopeful aura to the lyrics... It's a warning: Sooner or later, this happens to everyone. Love comes quickly whatever you do, you can't stop falling. But it's also wishful thinking: Sooner or later, this happens to everyone. Love comes quickly whatever you do, you can't stop falling. “Just what you least expected, just when you least expect” such a profound and identifiable line, whether about love or any of the other myriad of different challenges that “come quickly” in our lives. This was no throwaway pop love song. It was about life. And how to live it

I still remember the first time I heard it. 1986, cousin came to pick us up from school and just before we got home, it was played on the radio. Had a shock. One of my favourite songs ever...
Summer to Fall 1986 this song was so important to everything I was feeling and everyone I cherished. Wish I would have more fully enjoyed the good things I had back then with the knowledge and foresight that there was only a limited time period to enjoy the best moments in life.
Couldn't agree more! Listening to certain music, but this song particularly, makes me think about how much hope I had for the future back when this song came out, and that I was relatively happy then. Now I'm suffering severe depression, partly due to the fact I'm now almost 60 years old. Not handling the aging thing well. I know that's fucked up, but I can't help it.

@@chrizzycream I'm so freaking lucky!! I was born in 1947 and have lived and listened to some of the best music ever in history since before rock was even invented and beyonddddddddddd.
Underrated song. Thank you sirus xm radio showing me this song. Love 80s music but pet shop boys might be my favorite 80s band
Deep, melodic, electronic emotional musical art and I'm lucky enough to have had this as part of the musical background to my informative years. Big love and respect to the Pet Shop Boys who were clearly living their life to the full
Sooner or later
This happens to everyone
To everyone
You can live your life lonely
Heavy as stone
Live your life learning
And working alone
Say this is all you want
But I don't believe that it's true
'Cause when you least expect it
Waiting round the corner for you
Love comes quickly
Whatever you do
You can't stop falling
Love comes quickly
Whatever you do
You can't stop falling
You can live a life of luxury
If that's what you want
Taste forbidden pleasures
Whatever you want
You can fly away to the end of the world
But where does it get you to?
'Cause just when you least expect it
Just what you least expect
Love comes quickly
Whatever you do
You can't stop falling
Love comes quickly
Whatever you do
You can't stop falling
I know it sounds ridiculous
But speaking from experience
It may seem romantic
And that's no defence
Love will always get to you
Sooner or later, sooner or later
This happens to everyone
To everyone
You can fly away to the end of the world
But where does it get you?
Love comes quickly
Whatever you do
You can't stop falling
Love comes quickly
Whatever you do
You can't stop falling

Thanks for the lyrics. I didn't know the meaning of the test. Thanks you a loro. Monica

wow just discovered their name now tho I have been hearing their songs and same beautiful voices I love psb
That's PSB Magic. Songs Like this Masterpiece goin' Under the Skin and Touch my Soul
“Just what you least expected, just when you least expect” such a profound and identifiable line, whether about love or any of the other myriad of different challenges that “come quickly” in our lives. This was no throwaway pop love song. It was about life. And how to live it
Oh my God yes. So well stated!!
The best time of my life
This song should have been as big as "West End Girls".
West End Girls is my favorite song of all time!
WEST END GIRLS R GREAT TOO
Think it should have been bigger!
West end girls is overrated, poor tune.

ohhhhhh, man....takes me right back to the late 80s...living in "Suburbia"/Columbia,MD...I had graduated college and was waiting to enter the Peace Corps, where I wound up in Kosovo...and from there, a number of places between Africa and Europe. And I must say, I became a big Pet Shop Boys fans, because of this song..while I was overseas, their music was a part of my life sondtrack.
Just when you least expect it, just what you least expect.....PSB ruled the 80s like no others....still great in 2016.
I agree.
Ronald Schwartz they were good times for me, being a teenager back then, love was always around. Sorry but when you hit your 40's you realise that love is for young fools and poets. Sorry people, that's just how it is unless your doing it financially. Cheers people.
TheGodParticle........wise words....you have to make your own dreams and achievements come true and enjoy it on your own, before you get taken advantage by some crazy so called , I love you..person....(the devil never sleeps ).I have seen that happening to a lot of people......be careful....very careful....
Still great in 2017.......
Ronald Schwartz Also my favorite lines from the lyrics. Just brilliant!
Underrated. Should have been on every radio playlist.
It had to be on the majority of them in March and April 1986,here in the UK at least. But it'd be good to hear it on the radio again.
@@rjjcms1 It's too bad that here in the US, in my experience anyway, I only heard this song because I bought the CD.
One of my PSB favourites!
it was played heavily in southern California, due in part because of famous kroq 106.7 fm
It was no "West End Girls," but it was played fairly often in New York on WLIR radio. Hey, they can't all be "West End Girls." Some songs are bigger than others.
Una canción adelantada a su tiempo de uno de los mayores grupos de la música electrónica del siglo pasado
They don't make pop music like this anymore. So brilliant.
+Bill Pepe Such great pop!
The Killers are kinda close right?
Not familiar with The Killers. I'll check them out. Robyn is probably some of the best pop music I have heard in the past 10 years.
Bill Pepe Check Sia and her album 10000 forms of fear.
Awesome beat to dance too.
the 80´s lives on in our hearts and minds
Bryan Alexis I was born in the mid of '80s. Am I in luck, don't you think? ;)
Bryan Alexis I do miss those godly & glorious times SO MUCH!!
The 80s Synth is still the best sound.
Estoy sin palabras. BRUTAL CONCIERTO DEL PRIMAVERA SOUND EN BARCELONA. De lo mejor jamás vivído.en mis 43 años🫶 Forever PET SHOP BOYS ❤️💘
Masterpiece. Still in 2024.❤
My dad used to play the Please album all the time when I was a little kid. Get well soon dad!
I hope your dad's okay!

Glad to hear about an Indian PSB FAN.. I hope your father is Ok now
Play these songs to him. I hope he's better now.
Hope hes fine
Best song of pet shop boys❤❤❤❤❤❤
A masterpiece of a video regardless of what the director or others might think. It turned out awesome and so fitting with the song. Love Comes Quickly is my favorite Pet Shop Boys song!
MrBrightWave hi me too
MrBrightWave me too, reminds me of my second love and a misspent youth. Cheers

One of my favourite song. I was a kid back then…..now I’m already 49 in 2024 and I still love this song though! Brings me back a lot of my childhood memories……
petsho boys excelente musica.

These guys never fail to cheer me up
I still remember the first time I heard it. 1986, cousin came to pick us up from school and just before we got home, it was played on the radio. Had a shock. One of my favourite songs ever...
Seems like yesterday when this was released, I remember this song when I was 10 years old
Summer to Fall 1986 this song was so important to everything I was feeling and everyone I cherished.
Wish I would have more fully enjoyed the good things I had back then with the knowledge and foresight that there was only a limited time period to enjoy the best moments in life.
That's how it works -- "Youth is wasted on the young."
dampen damp y yuuyyyy
DAMPEN..lovely words..my sentiment also..such a great track..a privilege to have experienced the 80s.best Decade ever
@@sydney13ism We only have one shot at this life, don't spend it wishing for things gone by. Enjoy the life you have, others have had that choice taken from them and have fought tooth and nail to remain on this earth.
Good luck my friend............
