Im now 43 i first time heard about pet shop boys from my older Cousin and i still love them and i love the english that they use its so clear i understand all of them beside the fact i just learned scool english and im from a non english speaking Country but im still use all chanses to practice on vacation or Job peaople from England very nice and open!

I was a young girl and a teenager in the 80s/90s and although I was a metal fan, I also loved the Pet Shop Boys especially and other synth pop bands like Erasure, the Communards, Depeche Mode... I know the PSB were singing about being gay but it was more than that - I'm autistic but not diagnosed until my 40s, I'm female and heterosexual - but songs like this talked to me. Made it ok to be "different". And the music is just wonderful. My mother loved them too. Thank you Pet Shop Boys!

But I remember that with this song I thought: This is more than "just" pop and a few hits, they're here to stay. They are gonna be one of these groups. And here they are, almost 40 years later, still standing, still relevant.
So much talent , I used to sit down and listen to their incredibly effortless and brilliant pop music, I was certainly blessed to be in the UK as one single after another rolled into the world. Thank you.

so much to unpack here - Derek Jarman was a fantastic director whose work included Caravaggio and Sebastiane (and many others - google him if you're unfamiliar) and seeing - more alarmingly - seeing Chris Lowe SMILING?! It's almost too much. Love this. I used to do a mashup back in the day of the 12" of this and Cold Hearted by Paula Abdul. They worked really well together.
I am Scottish and I know that Neil Tennant is originally from the North East (Geordie-land) so I am loving it when he throws in the phrase Bonnie Lass! You can take the man out of Geordie-land but you can't take Newcastle upon Tyne or in Neil's case North Shields out of the man. Never forget your Geordie roots Neil.👍
