Man what a haul! Gotta give the fellas at Florin Tractor a HUGE shout out and thank you for doing all they did. What an effort of preserving history by the employees and by you as well. Hats off to you fellers. Mini treasure trove of parts.
Thank you for the omage to Florin. Watched your channel for many years. I am in Montana and have numerous crawlers and graders I have kept from going to scrapyard over the last twenty years. Keep up the good work and I will be more diligent watching your videos. We use them for repairs.
One of the best ever U tube videos, bittersweet but ultimately encouraging to see the best of humanity (both ends of that transaction) at work helping save quality from the past.
Wow is all I can say. It’s sad to see them going outa business but amazing that they went above and beyond in what they sent. Very unexpected. Amazing support of Caterpillar parts and tools that you’ll have for years
An old friend was a Seabee, served on Guam, did the build of the naval air station in the Phillipines, used a lot of Cat, was in charge of parts and maintenance at the end, talked to him some about your projects, he is blind now so we just talk, he has great stories of skinning Cats!
What a score. It's good to see a business not dumping that sort of stuff when they close but putting it in places where it will be used. There is a lot of unobtanium there, good on Florin Tractors for keeping it in it in existence.
Yeah, im commenting on older vids, absorbing every bit of information I can, and nobody can stop me! In all seriousness tho, As someone patiently waiting for an opportunity to own an rd6, I'm tempted to hit you up for any related tools you have duplicates of. Mad respect to the folks who put all that together for you, that is a dream haul for any collector of any flavor.
Incredible haul. I didn't know it was your birthday! ;-) Isn't it amazing about some companies and how they go above and beyond? It appears that at Florin, parts have a soul and must be passed on to the next caretaker. Serious high-five to Florin!!
That is such a trove of treasures! Good on them for sending you all the extras, good people they are. I’m looking forward to seeing all of that stuff find a home. And all those tools a use. How awesome!
Amazing haul. I've mentioned it before... Florin Tractor was across the street (Florin Road) from my Dad's favorite hardware/lumber store, Lumberjack. As a kid I was always fascinated by the equipment they would have in the yard, which was small. They were right next to a train track (SP). But equipment would come in and gradually lose weight and then it would be gone. Occasionally, one of the guys would say "don't just stand there, come give me a hand... and I would. My Dad would have to come drag me out of the place. I stood in the warehouse dozens of times and marveled at what they had on the shelves. So, collectively, with no granularity, I've seen ALL this stuff before. I went off to school in 78, flew Navy and had my own family. Lumberjack got bought out by Payless Cashways and then they went belly up. Now, Florin Tractor is gone... really no reason to go down Florin road, ever again.
I am sure glad you got the parts. Couldn't have gone to a better person. Dana helped me on parts for my D2 and if not for him it wouldn't be running. Thank you, Florin Tractor, .
Matt at Diesel Creek just paid $115 for the water gasket that goes between the pony motor and cylinder hear of a Cat Motor Grader. I begged him to contact Squarch253 for help on the old motor grader he recently purchased. You snooze you loose. Great Buy Squatch253
I could have used a 3B6780 last week, lol. Turns out an early Ford Bronco F150 hub nut wrench works just as well! That is an awesome haul. I'm a bit jealous.
You obviously were a good customer of theirs and when they packed your order they cleaned off shelves and bonus shipped you things they thought you might use kudos to them hats off to you great to see that
My heart sank for a minute there. I thought maybe my precombustion chamber tool was made redundant. It would be a point of pride for me if you stored what I made with the OEM tools you have. Looking forward to the RD6 project!
I have to agree with other commenters about florin for doing all that good stuff . My little economy tractor runs a 3.5 inch piston in the K321 engine.
It sad to know they went out of business. It's so Awesome that they did that for you and other Collectors of those old CATS. Good Luck in whatever is next to them.. Great Video...
Heh, you went full Squatch Hulk on that tractor. "You can't lift? I'll make you lift, even if i have to lift it myself!" :)) Man, what a nice haul. So many goodies. Sad to see that outfit go, but they did good on you before retirement. Nice on them, good people. Dennis, Dana, Florin crew if you're watching, the community is indebted to you for all the years you kept the shop alive. It's clear from the comments from people who knew the shop that you were a great positive force in keeping these amazing tractors functioning.
Squatch 1956 was the year I was born and it is always interesting to see examples of what technology was like at a time when my family and I were young as portrayed by the Tractor Field Book. There is a little second hand book shop in a nearby town I occasionally visit to scrounge for literature like that to add to my own reference library. Thanks for an exceptionally fascinating episode and great to see so much irreplaceable, original, precious stuff pass into the hands of someone who so deeply appreciates it.
Always sad when a first class supplier closes its doors 😢 Florin tractors obviously appreciated you as a customer and a restorer of old Cat equipment and showed their appreciation in this consignment of goodies 👌 a big Thank You to Florin equipment from all Squatch 253 viewers 👏👏👏
Those metal strapping lengths can come in right handy to cut "shim stock" out of to help get sheet metal gaps lining up or if you get real industrious cut lengths, drill or punch a grommet hole and weave them to make a seat bottom enough to hold a folded burlap sack then padding over as a longer lasting seat repair. Beyond that, looks like a right major haul of "this guy was a great customer, just push everything left on those shelves on that pallet. What doesn't easily nest in can be held with strapping and shrink wrap."
Thank You Florin tractor, and Thank you Squatch. I felt like a kid on Christmas Morning watching you handle and inventory those Cat NOS parts. You guys Rock! Now, onto finding Dr's, that need overhauling!
I can see it now. Standing on the loading dock as the last truck pulls away. A slow look around the empty building as they walk to the door, turn out the lights, and walk away.
Another American institution gone. I've got a set of those yellow binders with all the Cat tractors and equipment listed in them probably 1950s era, maybe collectable. Wow, that's a marvelous haul !
Thanks to Florin Tractor for saving those parts for future use. I know is extremely hard to toss those NOS parts in the recycle bin. Thank you from someone who will never wrench a Cat bolt. I recognize that NOS and OS parts are disappearing like our American cars and Tractors of all manufacturers. Bravo to Florin Tractor; I salute you. Squatch you are like a person who hit the lottery. I am sure you will designate some parts for transfusions at other rebuilders like yourself. Squatch please never forget Florin Tractor when you use these parts.
We have a cat 930m wheel loader at work its about a 1974 machine. It has an accelerator pedal like that. It doubles as the fuel cut off. You have to reach down and pull it up into a detent to stop the engine. You also have to remember to step on it to get it out of the detent when you go to start the engine.
What a wonderful time capsule you have there with all of those NOS parts and tools. I’m glad they found their way to such a responsible steward of American history and culture.
Hi Squatch, that goose neck wrench is known as a J wrench to us in the field now and it is the only way to do main bearings on larger Cats unless you’re a heathen with an impact wrench😁
What a score, I think that you are about to get a lot of "friends" 😀. You must be very happy to be the person that they thought of when they decided to unload their inventory!
WOW!!! Christmas in May......Love it. I can barely change the batteris on the remote, however, LOVE this channel. Can't begin to tell you how happy I was when I first saw yellow on the crate unpacking.....Oh Boy, Cat parts!!! But what a haul.
Sad to see places like Florin tractor disappearing, there will never be anymore places like that, the old stuff I like to work on is getting harder and harder to find parts for. If I were born with a silver spoon in my mouth I'd want to buy all of those places out and make a mega retailer for old equipment parts. I will just keep dreaming I guess...lol
This... this is beyond words. But I can't help myself not feeling a deep sadness about the company that closed it door. It's just sad. And.. make me cry.
When a business finds better way to close out shop, rather than send it to dump (almost all do it because they feel it so much easier), after closing their doors, you are lucky recipient of their blessing of parts.
Wow!!! It looks like they got to the last pallet and decided to empty the shelves for you. It's obvious that they knew you would make sure it wasn't going to waste.
It was nice that Florin Tractor Parts gave all the extra parts to you, Squatch. They have a good home for now. Sad that businesses have to close up. Happy retirement to the guys at Florin Tractor Parts!
This is absolutely awesome! Like you said, these items aren't just "available" any more. The "store" is now whatever you can come up with from spare parts bins, good used, decent used, reproductions, or even just "better" than whatever is currently on a machine. Seeing all of the items saved, almost especially the items you don't have plans for or use for is great, simply because it got saved. Loved this episode!
I'm happy for you that Santa gave you quite the stash of belated Xmas gifts. Still, I have a heavy heart for Dennis closing shop because he was kind enough to send me a big, fat bunch of vintage Cosmoline-soaked wrappings so I could find out what it smelled like. I hope great things await him.
Quite a haul! Even Cat 212 grader parts! Thought of you when watching Diesel Creek's latest video of him working on an 212 getting it running. Made me cringe seeing all the things he was doing woefully wrong. If your eye twitches on your "Preparation " H, I would hate to see your eye of him working on his "Colonoscopy" Cat 212.

You know its a good pallet of stuff when the tractor needs help to lift it. I'm glad they get to go enjoy retirement after getting these parts to the right people. Too often the owners stay with it until they pass and the kids just have it all hauled off for scrap to be rid of it, not knowing how valuable the stuff truly is. I hope the owners did well enough selling everything off that they can be comfortable to the end. Last year I had to help close out a car dealership that had been in business in Eau Claire since 1964 after the owner passed. There was a LOT of stuff I had to find homes for to save it from the scrap bin. To clear out a machinery yard from the 50's would be a massive task.
Matt over at Diesel Creek is working on a '42 Cat road grader. I thought I heard you mention some road grader parts. I can hear your excitement, but this is making me a bit sad. Yet another source of parts going out of business, and soon there won't be any parts for these old machines, even though they are still repairable. I hope there is a Mrs. Squatch and some little Squatches that can keep this going. The amount of knowledge that is dying out is tragic. I hope all your knowledge is being passed down. Hats off to Florin to preserving all this material.
Been watching for a couple years after looking into a few things on our old dozer. It's a D4 #6U - 316. We haven't run it in a few years, but it runs. Last time I used it I couldn't get the pony motor to engage the flywheel to start it up, but it pull started. We run some older equipment, but this is the oldest by 20 years or more
Felt like Christmas morning! The amount of tools is mind boggling. I hope they didn't have to put too much in the dumpsters. By the way, I love the old Mobil station.
Mind boggling collection! Hats off to Florin Tractor for getting this together and out to as many places as possible.
Man what a haul! Gotta give the fellas at Florin Tractor a HUGE shout out and thank you for doing all they did. What an effort of preserving history by the employees and by you as well. Hats off to you fellers. Mini treasure trove of parts.
Way to go Dennis and Dana, good on ya. A long and happy retirement too.
Great score Sir. It all couldn’t go to a better collector. Enjoy
👍to the guy's from Florin Tractor Parts ❤

That made me tear up a little bit. Thanks for saving all that you could. Enjoy whatever is ahead of you.
It's sad to hear that another fine place for old stuff has closed up .
I've lost so many old school parts places around my home town
What a haul!! So glad that you were able to work with a great group to preserve this.
That Mobil service station with some work could make a fantastic storefront for Squatch's tractor restoration and you tube studio. 🙂
@@squatch253 I could tell that at one time it had a lot of character. No doubt some good stories it could tell! 🙂
Shout out to Florin Tractor and all the Employees. congrats on your Retirement. thanks for all you did over the years. above and beyond. what a haul.
Incredible haul!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Our first 950 81J loader had pedals similar to the ones you got. I really got excited watching this episode
Don’t even know how I ended up here I was watching sneaker videos, but always enjoy seeing someone passionate about something. 👍🏼

What an amazing gift with all those extra parts and bolts.
Ps. Those foot throttle pieces are likely cat wheel loader.
I could be wrong but that pedal looks like 944a or at least similar to it.
😍😍😍 so sad to hear them shutting down tho 😩 everything will be that much harder to get now
WOW... that is quite the haul! Don't let Kyle sneak in there un monitored!
2F3666 = starting engine piston (STD) for D342 marine engine (and probably some others).
