Toby i have to tell you that your content is a saving grace in my home. My son who is autistic watches the 5j1113 videos every night for hours. I bet he has seen them all a dozen times. And when he is done with them all he starts right back over. He loves tractor shows the tractor pulls monster trucks. Your content is calming to him he loves all the little details so thank you
Y'all must live right in the sweet spot of the entire country for old Caterpillars! I've lived within 200 miles of where I am right now for over six decades, worked in the earthwork industry, worked for tractor dealers, and I don't think I've ever seen a D2. EVER.
You are one mighty fine son. This country needs more sons like you. I hope senior appreciates having a son like you. I sure do like your videos. The passion you have for parts and machines I understand. The details and knowledge you show rebuilding components, is the best I've seen. Some of us appreciate what you do and sharing with us. Best of luck to you.
The channel just keeps getting better!! D2 are definitely awesome, but I’m super stoked to see the X231. That’s one-of-kind machine right there. We need to get that shop built. Multiple tractors in work. Also, it was good to see Kyle in your videos from Jordan.
Really nice walk around video I'm glad that the D2 went a good home I just wasn't going to get around to finishing the project I will be watching to see the progress.
Sounds like a solid plan buddy - as soon as I seen the chunk missing from seniors seat tank I immediately thought “we’ll that’s a good solid donor for the cab if it gets re-skinned 👌” Hopefully it all works out.
Well, congratulations Squatch, you seem to have hit the Cat Dozer Jack-Pot w/extras and extra, extras !!! As always, being able to watch the D2 Dozer get the Squatch and Senior overhaul will be thoroughly enjoyable. It will also be informative to see your other recently obtained Jack-Pot item, the Cat-Cab restored and placed on a D2 where it belongs.
What an awesome find. Yes please, do an episode getting this old beast up and runnin'. It's always nice when someone walks up to you and tells you about a piece of equipment they want to sell off. I've had that happen to me with pinball and arcade games at customers houses and at conventions and shows. Most of them not working in need of to much repairs they don't want pay for. Since I used to have lots of parts in stock I bought them. Fixed them up and turned a nice profit. I love watching Squatch rebuilding these old Cats.
My grandfather had one of those on his farm. No muffler. LOUD!!! It was stored inside the under side of the hay barn where the cattle were. He always had a soup can on the exhaust pipe that flew off when he started it.
You need an apprentice employee, I volunteer! Step father had an old D2 as a child I didn't really care, older now and love these old tractors, good stuff, thanks Squatch.
Wow. One thing. Kyle has that D4 with a massive V4 air compressor on it. That really needs to be finished up for massive sand blasting projects. For kyle, you and the cat club. That is too rare and handy an option to take apart . A few rements of span crete deck panels as a floor and some corrugated panels or a container with the side hinged and cut out become a sand blast shop.
Oh yeah! 1951, same year I was made. The Cat has fared better than me.😂 "Ran out of talent", I love that so much I am going to borrow it to use at my job. I have a few I can apply it to.
@ 6:29 Squatch, for a second there I thought you had a duplex drive CAT D2 and would be rebuilding the canvas skirt to make her amphibious! 🤪 Just kidding. Cool acquisition. Thanks for the video, please keep them coming. 🙂
Squatch do you think the building pad for you barn/shop is big enough? Gonna need a bigger one if you keep dragging equipment home! All jokes aside this is definitely one of my favorite channels. Very informative, but to the point with plenty of dry humor. Speaking of the barn, is there an update on that? Haven’t seen anything on it in a while since all efforts are focused on the D2 build!
I vote for the plan! I like the idea of taking the leftover machines and refurbishing one with the pick of the parts from the "parts" units. Maybe not all of the "top grade" spare components for obvious reasons, but the "50% worn" type stuff that is still very stand up but leave you and Sr the top tier parts to have in your parts store for when you need them. would still end up with a stand up unit that would serve someone happily for many years as long as they do follow the basic maintenance procedures. I've always hated seeing old iron meet its end, but I also know that it isn't feasible to save every single one. but to me this would almost complete the set, if you will, of ol 1113 which is totally rebuilt but left with patina, The Iron Mistress with paint and all the same treatments, and then one that is just basically a good runner but is in its natural state of age and wear. Plus Sr would get a very nice D2 out of the deal! Congratulations on another great find!
Funny coincidence about the "Nelson" sticker. Very happy to hear about this next D2 project (I didn't think the cab color would work with 5J1113 anyway), especially about the build-for-sale element of it. Really happy for ya, man. Keep on keepin' on!
Notch in the top center of PTO shroud is for the spring loaded catch for sliding PTO shield/guard. Was probably canted to allow use of a shield most farmers routinely removed from their machinery, (sometimes to their later regret).
A lot of old decals off equipment are often neat to have even on just flat sheet in frames or as wall hanger signs. If you get that one on the battery box redone I would like to get a copy of it, and for the trouble I'd be more than happy to send some funds your way for it.
So those are the tool bars you told me about a video or two back? That is awesome! So cool to see them, especially after you told us about them. What an awesome find.
Sounds like squatch has his next 10 years planned out with x231, narrow rd6, seniors d2 and all the other seasonal jobs that get thrown in to the mix, as always great content always look forward to your videos squatch.
With the continuing videos of the rebuild of 5j 1113 we are still only part way through our restoration of 3j7690. Thank you so much for the detailed explanations! We are in Perth West Oz and have very limited access to the info given in your excellent videos. Currently we have a major dilemma, we broke a plunger in one of the injector pumps and have been unable to obtain a replacement! The pump p/n is 6B5791 and Cat said a replacement was 8M9753 which we were able to source and as the tractor is quite old decided to buy 4 units. Duly installed readied for a start and luckily there was a handy piece of metal plate as the engine took of to max revs and we were able ti close the air intake and stop the engine!! All very exciting and required a few minutes for us to regain our composure, to put it mildly!!! Anyway, upon investigating we found the pump plungers to have the helix in the opposite direction!!I will try and attach a photograph!! Have you any comment as to how we might overcome this? We thought maybe could have an additional helix cit into the same plunger!! Thanks George
Glad to hear you will be installing the angle dozer on this D2 (I'm not a big fan of the toolbar) and here is a suggestion, a good Hyster winch on that CAT.would be very handy around the farm !!!
We'll be back for that.😉 I like the "good dozer for Sr." and the "fender tank, general purpose crawler" idea. Plus that does leave the cab and seat tank for 1113. That makes a good plan. EDIT: And yes, get back to X231. That thing will be so cool when it's done.
I had thought of that but the fenders are 18” tall. Blocking the dozer up 12+ inches could lead the a roll. I guess if I took it low and slow I would be ok but the 5 hour drive at highway speeds would take some time going home.
This is amazing planning! In all honesty, I’d possibly be interested in purchasing a finished tractor with that light duty capability for use. Years down the road when it’s finished. Lol. Great content! You have material set up for years to come! Even though I’d personally like to see more land care content I have truly come to enjoy the Cat equipment too!
Hello Squatch253, Boy did you score a big one. I believe you should have 3 clones of yourself in order to finish all the work you talked about doing. I'm amazed at your knowledge about these tractors. You did it, you have me hooked from now on.
All sounds good!!! You have some work cut out you a long while!!!! Love how you explain every thing and the way you put it all together, very nice work!!! I don't know any thing about old Cats. other then I think there cool, I find myself awaiting your next video & and I feel like I'm right there helping you build those Cats. Keep doing things your way, stay safe!!! You have my friend ship all the way there in PA. Robin Jo PS I don't even know your first name???? only squatch ??? later.
glad to hear about X231. stumbled onto the channel because of that and staying because the the down home attitude and desire to rebuild things. beside the the new 5U model, aren't you looking for a set of the upper track support rollers for the "Swamp Princess"?
Wow, looks like a real good purchase!! I am amazed once again that Cat had so many implement ideas and add on features!! it really made the tractor so much more universally usable for the customer!! So wishing you much luck on your plans for the future!! As always thanks for the video which was very good as usual!!!
Yep, looks like an old Pyrene carbon tetrachloride fire extinguisher bracket on the battery box lid. May be not factory installed but certainly period correct application.
Wow. What a package! I have a D4C on my Texas ranch. Nice machine but nothing like the coolness of your machines! I’ve been on this ranch 65 years and have no idea where I could find a D2!
You're going to need a flowchart now for all that plans and explaining you just did! It's like me trying to remember all the kin in my brother-in-law's family cause their Catholic you see, and he has four sisters, which all had kids, and they had kids, so every Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'm like spending all day trying to remember names & faces and where each of them fit in the family tree! 🤔
Squatch I'm really looking forward in seeing what you build out of these machines. There's no doubt Squatch seniors is going to be another amazing d2 when it's finished. Cheers
That bracket clamp thing on the air cleaner dunno whoever installed it used it for , but it sure looks like a cold beverage holder! And conveniently located in front of the operater … 🤷♂️ just sayin 🤪 … ✌️🤙

@@squatch253 You should find out his name and mention him in a future video, he would probably love that.
That's really cool 😃
His name is Joseph but he likes joey and would love that
Whear are you located? I live in Southern Indiana. I would be interested in giving him f12 farmall. If he would work on it.
thats cool as!
Love it - what I took from it all is... years of Squatch videos to look forward to!

they are pretty plentiful in california see them all over
I thought "fire extinguisher" for that bracket, too. Funny that *you* wouldn't want a fire extinguisher on hand for the next D2 mouse nest. ;-)

I KNEW IT!!! This channel is like groundhog day and we can keep watching forever 🤣🤣🤣
This channel is the "standard" for Caterpillar content on RUclips. Great job on the finds!
Sounds like a solid plan buddy - as soon as I seen the chunk missing from seniors seat tank I immediately thought “we’ll that’s a good solid donor for the cab if it gets re-skinned 👌”

Yahoo !! you and senior will be able to have crawler races up and down your drive, what a hoot
Man that’s one great looking d2! And in amazing chape too! I’m looking forward to see what you’re going to do with it! 👌😎👍
I really like your phrase " Ran out of Talent" - I knowthat feeling. Excellent films, please keep doing them.

I heard that mention of X231 😁 I'm looking forward to it's return to the channel 👌 love your work Squatch

The Ziegler decal is neat. We have a Ziegler here in Sioux City yet.
Sounds like a lot of future content. I like it!!
Notch in the top center of PTO shroud is for the spring loaded catch for sliding PTO shield/guard. Was probably canted to allow use of a shield most farmers routinely removed from their machinery, (sometimes to their later regret).
That’s definitely a vintage fire extinguisher bracket for a cool little hand pumped brass fire extinguisher.
I Had an identical one a few years ago….

D2 fender tank toolbar to go with my D47U toolbar! I'll take it. Looking forward to seeing the progress on X231.
My favorite comment from you was always, “I see they left the key in it” but the “ran out of talent” … I think they are tied now. 😂
You finally said it...X231....can't wait.
Anything to see that cab go on. Lol
Thank you again for your quick responses. Have a great weekend!!

beside the the new 5U model, aren't you looking for a set of the upper track support rollers for the "Swamp Princess"?
@@squatch253 so what is the physical difference then?
The bolt pattern, the offset of the roller to the bracket, or the roller itself?
On the battery box is a mount for a brass pump style carbon tetraflouride fire extinguisher.
Wow you hit the jackpot
New drinking game! Take a shot/drink of beer every time he says “flogged!” Lol. New D2 looks nice with a bunch of parts. Totally cool.
That clip that's on the container looks like hold my beer clip is jam your can of b or your bottle of beer and it will you drive your D2
