Mitch is born to be a Blue Jacket, put him on the island of misfit toys.
Leafs should have traded him years ago. Detroit would be a nice fit🤷♂
I’d love him on Detroit…. But I think Steve Yzerman is too fickle to sign a guy like Marner
Marner is not our answer. We need bona fide 1 C and goalie
Isn't marner a 1c?
@@WeAreLight05 I think Dylan Larkin proved he is a good 1c this year…. Last year I would’ve agreed that Detroit needs a better 1c
Lets not forget that Marner has shown up for ALL the Playoff games, feeds the puck to Matthews and Tavares and made 99 points last year, 97 points the year before and 85 in 69 games this year, if that isn't producing for your paycheque, WHAT IS???
Compare those numbers to Nylander or Brad Marchant and lets see, who is worth their money???
Crushing fan pressure,
Crazed Toronto media
-- Mitch Marner 'Exit'🚪🤔?
Hockey Haiku Musings
Mitch to the NY Rangers for Adam Fox.
As a canes fan, we would gladly take him 😊🎉
I'll always remember Mitch crying in the penalty box game 6 vs the Habs lmao
I wouldn't pay those dollars for mitch
If the Leafs flame out in the first round and have to shake up the core, I'm gonna predict that Seattle is in on a possible Mitch Marner trade. They need the elite talent and have the cap space to do it!
IF? hahah
Detroit rock city baby
I see Utah on it.. 🫣
@@blissstated I think a lot of teams will want to be in on a potential Marner trade including Detroit, Utah, and Seattle, but of course Vegas will find a way to swoop in at the 11th hour to be the team to get it done /s 😒
As much as I want to see Marner gone, Matthews will probably use his star power to prevent Marner from being traded. Which is really going to be bad for the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans.
The popular sentiment out there was that Matthews and Marner were inseparable BFFs, but there’s a rift between them so now Matthews can go on with life without Mitch.
Marner has a no trade contract. If the Leafs make him angry by not giving him the term and the dollars he wants, he can refuse a trade and walk at the end of the contract. Why would he want to help the Leafs if they turn their backs on him? (Remember Sundin)
The mistake management made was not the dollar amount it was the no-trade clause.
Marner to Utah
marner to anywhere
Send him to Buffalo or Columbus.
No trade clause, pointless conversation on trading him. The question is sign him, or let him hit free agency? The team needed big changes after the Habs series loss.. It just keeps carrying on every year 🙁
He’s a really good hockey player. He’s just making $2.5m more than would be ideal. Then when you consider there’s several other guys with too high of cap hit, you get an underwhelming, unstable build that needs the stars to align to go on a deep playoff run…
Canuck fans and media do the same thing
marner is about to be utah bound. i think a fresh start may be best for him and toronto will have to retain 50% of his salary and if he doesn't accept a trade, risk taking a buyout.
Hearing from Andrew raycroft on this is hilarious
Go Leafs go - from us Leaf Playoff Supporters.
Wasn’t Marner’s time with the Leafs really over long ago? 😀
You’re my favorite Canadian….. after Stevie Y and Ryan Reynolds of course…. Top 3 ain’t bad
Chrystia Freeland is my favourite. Stunning and brave.
He is WAY too soft, been that way since he played in the OHL,as long as he is getting praised he is happy, any criticisms of him and he pouts like a spoiled brat he is and has always been.
Marner has become this postseason as much of a bust as in regular-season play Nail Yakupov, picked first overall in his draft year by the Oilers, did. Although before Yakupov would, longer term than during the 2012-13 AHL-CHL-ECHL-KHL-NHL season, decide to take his hockey career back home, he was never offered, on a given NHL contract, full no-move clause:
- Marner was, and willingly accepted, making him hard to move but not impossible because the be will have to wave that NMC for the Leafs to move him
- Yakupov never reached his 27th birthday before that long-term move of his back home after limited interest from NHL teams for which he had already played although had even eligible to be offered a restriction on the ability to move him, I don't think any NHL team would have been stupid enough to offer him such a restriction
The Leafs fired Brinx trucks at the front doors of Nylander and Matthews houses this season...do they even have enough to sign Marner?
Is Treliving dumb enough to sign all 4 of those guys to rediculous contracts like Dubas did?
yes. yes he is. why?
MLSE. $$$$$
we look at playoffs
mlse look at profit. (281 million in revenue this year)
@@TheBillaroleafs are all about the bottom line. Cup is secondary. There's enough simps out there keeping them rich
Marner is a $3M player in the playoffs.
It is a bigger problem for the Leafs than for Marner. Marner is the guy they depend on for everything. Look who they have going up against McAvoy and Pastrnak. If they move on from Marner who is going to get that matchup? Nylander? He has to play third line competition every year in the playoffs. Kampf, if he could do it he would be doing it now. I guess that leaves Matthews. But he has 3 points in 3 games playing against Coyle, Geekie and 35 year old Brad Marchand. Last game he couldn't even handle that matchup. Does anyone think he will be PPG player facing the Bruins real stars? History says no.
And that leaves Marner as a 90 point plus Selkie candidate, two time number one all star. He will have his pick of teams as a UFA. Depending where he goes he can take a lower salary and still have more money when he cashes his checks. If Marner goes he will have his pick of contenders and the Leafs will be facing another rebuild carrying the Nylander contract like an albatross.
That said, Raycroft is right, the Toronto media is cancerous and they may drive him out of town.
hes not a playoff performer we dont want his cap hit anymore.
@@oldman8952 lmao stop, guy is afraid to go into corners and get hit. he has 10 goals in 52 playoff games, get real. hes not worth his 11m cap hit. when you get paid that kind of money you have to do all of it. PS; dont ever compare nylander and matthews to mitch marner. youre kidding yourself.
@@dbo3027 Marner is a playmaking Selkie candidate, not a goal scorer. That is why he is plus nine vs the toughest competition, while Matthews is plus 2 only playing tough competition if he has Marner's help and Nylander is minus 1 playing heavily sheltered minutes. As for playing a playoff game. Nylander has 33 playoff hits and Marner has 69. More than twice as many as Nylander. Now here Matthews is clearly better, 157 hits, more than 4 times more than Nylander, but if you are the least little bit honest, Matthews doesn't hit like a 6 3 215 pound man should.
Can't compare Matthews and Nylander to Marner. Perhaps you are right. Marner has been playing against the best in the league for years while Nylander has always been sheltered. Matthews gets sheltered unless he has Marner to help him. Just look at this year. Matthews gets the Coyle line and a second pair and he has underperformed against that matchup two out of three games. Marner is playing with a 3C and a rookie and he is getting the toughest matchup every shift, the Zacha line with Pastrnak and McAvoy on D. What does it say when other teams get their best Dmen out against Marner and let the also rans take care of Matthews? Oh, results 5v5 Pastrnak has a goal and McAvoy has an assist. Knies has a goal and Marner has an assist. The assist was tough but the goal was a tap in. That is a wash. I guess Pastrnak and McAvoy aren't worth their salaries either.
If you want to argue that Marner isn't worth 10.9, there is room for a discussion there. I think Dubas bungled all the RFA contracts, but if you want to make that argument, Matthews with easier matchups and fewer points isn't worth his salary either. Nylander, who has to be heavily sheltered because he can't be trusted to play against good players isn't worth any more than the 6.9 he is getting now.
youve got to be trolling atp, or a marner stan. you honestly think players are worried about a 5'10 160lb mental midget. this guy is the softest player in the playoffs every year. tell your boy to stop bailing out in corners and take a hit for once. complete joke.
@@oldman8952 i think this discussion is over after tonight.
marner to the flyers
One problem Mitch is paid $10.9 Million. Most teams can't afford him. Next season The top 5 players will make $54.5 Million or 62% of the Salary Cap The team will be top heavy..again.
I would trade him but who would want a one trick Pony 😂go HABS
Hawks sign him. LETS GO
I have heard for YEARS that McDavid desperately wants to be a Leaf....(and just about every other player in the NHL)....Do you think they might take back Soupy?......just asking.
Soupy Campbell and Connor McDavid in exchange for Mitch Marner, Ilya Samsonov and Morgan Rielly!
@@WW3_Soon Thats hilarious.....How about Matthews, Nylander, Reilly and 1st rounders for the next 20 years, and several bags of undisclosed amounts of cash, the Raptors and Blue Jays for McDavid?....actually nah....Keep it. We would rather have McDavid.
looks like Tavares is gone as well. marner and Tavares only have 1 point. and Nylander has none. what if he is not playing the playoffs for this vary reason. believed he would fail even more than these 2. oh well. matthews is the only one producing
Marner will ask for 15 million per season
Shoulda offered him 7.5 til he proved himself in the playoffs. Kids a ghost when it matters
Bro the series ain’t over yet. We don’t know if we’ll lose. We’re not in offseason yet. So just stop with the drama, I get the Marner situation but maybe he’ll prove us wrong, just coming into perspective, don’t judge too early.
You can’t be serious… after almost a decade you still have hope for this core?
Delusional 😂
Yes so right
I believe the leafs will win in 7 and to do that they need everyone on there game including marner
Far from over
@@Glacialspring we’ll see
@@edited1325 some of them, Nylander ain’t playing, so still have hope, plus look what happened to Boston last year when they were up 3-1
If he's smart. He will run from that mess in laugh land as fast as he can !! Then again that's where players go to get overpaid !!
Lol, watch him sign with the bruins in 2 years
Guy doesn’t care to loose.
I trade him,, to soft ,,no grit,, not made for the play off,,
No need to trade away Marner, need better coaching. And it's only game 4.
The irony is that plqyers don't get paid for thr playoffs, yet, their values are mostly justified in the playoffs. Leafs needs to move on from Marner and get good D men.
It’s Steve Simmons. He’s a bum writer who should have left years ago and I’m not a leaf fan
Sick of marner have been for YEARS
he'll be gone and he'll come back to haunt the leafs. steve simmons and marner haters just don't know how valuable he is, even if he's not scoring. this is why leafs will never win.
Hello Red wings, Marners next stop
Marner isn’t going anywhere and there’s over 10m reasons why
he was done vs montreal. MLSE LIKE HIM CUZ FANBOYS LIKE HIM $$$$$$$
Pettersen from Vancouver hasn't done anything for 3 months or so. they just paid him over 11M to do nothing. Vancouver needs to learn how to play without pettersen or demko. its so sad. The media are a bunch of arses anyway.
Not even a fan of van but damn the media there is toxic to petey and seem like they have negatively affected how he feels in Vancouver. After signing that deal he realized he made a mistake having to answer to the chopping block after every game and that he would rather play for a team that’s media isn’t fully going to crucify you in every way if your not perfect. Just like Toronto
He shouldn’t have signed for so much
Toronto doing it again, I hope he asks for a trade and wins the cup somewhere else because some of you are literal cry babies 😂
They should trade Marner and get a package that would add more debt to the team. One or two good forward and a shutdown young defensemen.
