3 Underrated & Overrated Players in the 2024 NHL Draft

- With the draft less than 2 months away, I wanted to weigh in on who I thought were 3 Overrated Players and 3 Underrated Players in this years NHL Entry Draft.

Jiricek’s skating is actually solid. He’s also very physical despite being 170lbs.
He has the skill to be a lot more offensive. I don’t think you can judge him either way because of the amount he’s played due to injuries.
He’s being rated there because of his potential which is solid
Shhhhhhh need him to slide to my Stars! We desperately need RH D-man. One with his upside would be AMAZING. As clearly Lundkvist is done in Dallas
@@heathclark318everyone needs RHD. He’s not getting past San Jose unless Yakemchuk is available at 14.
@@tylera86 Ohhh I know, its not happening, especially since the Stars wont be drafting until likely after 25. But if we were going to make a move it would be this year for a RHD. There are some really good ones, and Nils Lundkvist will never be more than 3rd pairing Dman in our system. He's too small and he doesnt see the ice well enough to compensate.

I watched Berkley Catton live in an elimination game. The team was done 1 with 2 minutes left and he looked like he couldn't care less. He was giving the puck away so easily and wasnt pushing like your star player should be in that situation
I think Greentree has a much higher ceiling than Geekie, his puck skills and decision making is so great. In terms of poor skaters that looks like that, the Tkachuks, Robertson, I wouldn’t doubt Greentree as a player
Andrew Basha is underrated in my opinion. His level of play actually improved when Cayden Lindstrom went down with injury. Should be a top 15 pick
Great video and thanks for the shout out! Have to agree with you on Stiga. His stock is rising! His size might keep him out of the first round but with his skillset you never know. I didn't know Greentree was ranked as high as 6 in some rankings. I can see him going somewhere between 15 to 20 in the draft. A good player but not a top ten pick..... Here's another question for you. This upcoming draft has a legit number one pick but after that, even though there are some truly good players that have top line potential but there could be four (or more) players that could go number two overall. Most likely it will be Demidov, but no guarantees. Linstrom, Silayev, Levshunov and maybe one or two others I didn't mention could take that spot. What's your take on that second pick?
You've hit a homerun with Greentree, his skating will hold him back because it won't complement his size. That being said, you greatly underestimate Jiricek and Catton's skill level
LOL! I'm with you on Mustard, the Hawks STOLE him at 67.
With a name like Mustard, it was inevitable that he went to Chicago, if you're from Chicago, you'll know what I mean.
God damn it you've made me doubt if Catton should be drafted by the habs again....I could never make my mind on this player
Cole beaudoin would be great for their second first round pick, demidov, Lindstrom or Iginla for their 5th
Think they have to take a swing on Cayden Lindstrom. They need more size with skill and speed.

I’m iffy on Greentree. I mean he’s got some skill and a shot but I’d like to see better skating. I’m also tired of people calling him Jason Robertson just because Robertson is mid at skating.
He’s drawn comparisons to Matt boldy. He had 90pts this year. Yes he needs to work on his skating but he can stick handle in a phone booth
Good stuff man Catton is definitely a weird one I think Emil hemming is underrated as well as EJ Emery

Stiga and Mustard are underrated? (not overly familiar with Pitner) Buium is your favorite defenseman? Greentree, Jiricek, and Catton overrated?Are we the same person? Yep. Did we just become best friends? Yep! haha. These are essentially the same opinions I have been preaching on CapFriendly since November. I would more than likely put Levshunov in the "overrated" category over Catton, though, but both of them are, for sure. I also got so much pushback in Nov/Dec/Jan for saying Eiserman was not a top 10 pick, and everyone started to slowly come around. Good job! Definitely earned a 'like and subscribe' from me!

I totally agree on Stiga. Why are teams sleeping on this kid? I get that this draft has a lot of interesting players with upside.
Cole Hutson to me looked like a top 15 talent in this year but he seems to hover around the late 1st early next 2nd.
Buium looks solid, I'm high on Parekh the way you are with Buium but Buium very well could be the best dman in this draft. There's actually like 4 or 5 guys who honestly could end up being the best of this class. Really tough year to choose lol.
Regarding Catton I find he looks overrated. I also didn't see enough from Greentree to justify where people have him.
I haven't seen enough of Jiricek but his older brother is going to be a fantastic player. I would love to ask Ferrari how he justifies having him so high.
Because you need big players to win in the playoffs. Small players dont typically do very well in the playoffs unless they are surrounded by big players or they are far above most as far as skill goes. Small players usually get wrecked.

As a Blues fans I cringe everytime I hear Adam Jiricek. I would much rather have COLE HUDSON.
You’re not terribly smart. Part of winning in the playoffs is having bid defenseman. It helped blues tremendously when they won.

Not at 16th, no, both are reaches there. Jiricek is probably better imo tho but I’d look at players like Helenius, Hage or Connollu
