I like Mammoth and Yeti
YETI I agree, Mammoth does not stand out for me.
Mammoth is a good name for the right city. Kind of hefty, no pun intended, for 'Utah' or even SLC.
They're good, but both should be plural
@@sbespn3820thank you, I’ve been saying that especially for Yetis
@@sbespn3820 Mammoths? Are you serious?
Algorithm giving me this after 2 minutes posted. RUclips is moving in the right direction.
Just a heads up, Utahs state flag includes a Beehive in its design, which has become a strong Mormon symbol, hence the name, “Swarm” being included in this list!!
The golden eagle has been officially named Utah’s state bird of prey.
The official declaration was signed into law by Gov. Spencer Cox with S.B. 116 on Wednesday during a legislative session.
Currently, Utah’s state bird is the seagull, but the distinction for the golden eagle is the “bird of prey” label.
I’m all for the Utah Seagulls
Utah team name voting is more secure than US elections lol
Utah Hive or Swarm. Imagine the crowd noise of emulating a giant hive for either of these names. Or better yet, the team is the Swarm, and the venue is called the Hive. Yellow and Black color scheme, sweet!
Yellow, black and purple for the Yotes! Unique color scheme!
Icemen is better then Ice
Diamonds is better then Black Diamonds
Mammoth need's an "S" at the end
Icemen is unimaginative, unoriginal and just plain lame.
@@jasonaltig985 I didn't say it was original and awesome I said it's better then Ice
Black diamonds is a ski term but in our racist world I would stay away from anything that has black in it.
Powder ??? Why not just call it Pablo Squad
So the reason swarm/hive are there is because utah is nicknamed the beehive state
Those 20 names are really poor ones only about 3 that are any good. Even I could think of better nicknames than that. Yeti is the only one on that list that stands out.
SLAYERS, SCAVENGERS, SENTENALS, SLASHERS, GUTTERS (fish), SALT DOGS, SOARING EAGLES, ASCEND, OSPREYS, BANDITS, MOSSIES, COAL, PITMEN, HORDE, TERRIERS, PITBULLS, HUSKIES, BUZZ, FIGHTERS and the one that stands out the SAINTS. Which I am guessing you cannot use due to the NEW ORLEAN SAINTS & the 90s BRITISH ELECTRONIC TRANCE BAND UTAH SAINTS.
It's going to be Yeti.

Black diamond cheese! The fans can wear the cheese head hats.
Since there seems to be a lack of skiing knowledge among hockey fans (there should be -some- overlap, shouldn’t there?), a black diamond is the symbol assigned to the most dangerous/technically demanding ski runs. It serves as a warning for the inexperienced to steer clear, which I feel is a fair warning to give your opponents.
They know which names people really like and which ones people hate or would never choose. My guess is that they have a team carefully monitoring what people are saying out there in the news media and on social media so they know what handful of names people will actually choose from. I think well over half of these names are just filler names so that they can stack the deck in their favor with ones they really want without getting stuck with a lame mascot they can’t market.
Utah HC sounds clean
I feel like one of these names will be reused for a AHL or ECHL Team
i care more that they wear purple than i do about their name
They will wear purple, blue, silver, white
@@nadaduo1765 is this already a given? there’ll be no name, no logo and no colors for the next season, every identity change will only take place since 25/26 season
@@dgstellario4433 no name, no logo just a wordmark and the jerseys
Yeti by a mile!! Sounds great, merch great, Utah and snowy mountain compatible!!
I think that is what they will end up with. It is a simple noun, looks big and intimidating, has a connection to Utah, and easily rolls off the tongue. This is the only proposed name that I really cannot find a downside to.
I guess if you have to pick from that lame list it is okay.
Outlaws
Mountaineers
Black diamond
Yeti
Bros acting like a pro team has never had their name voted on by fans before, lmaooo
Like practically half of them originated by fans voting. lol
Here are my top 5 team names- Cobras, Venom, Outlaws, Scorpions, and Dragons. To a lesser extent, I like Bighorns and Bobcats.
Well, I think Venom or "Black Diamonds" or some kind of snake oriented team is fitting for Utah. Only reason there wasn't the name "Diamondbacks" is because that's the team name for Arizona's baseball team. I think a Snake Oriented Team name could be Badass. Perhaps, maybe even something around the Native Utah Venomous Lizard, the Gila Monster.
Utah Venom kinda goes hard
I love the Venom name!
I didn’t like it at first, but it really is growing on me. There’s a few names that I perform more, but if it turned out to be the Utah venom, I’d be pretty stoked.
I can't with these names
The thing that stinks is that the Utah team will essentially be nameless for the 24-25 season. They won’t have their name and logo until the 25-26 season. To me, this is wrong. They should have the name and logo in place for this UPCOMING season.
part of me agrees but then i remember how much fun the washington football team was
Utah Stormin Mormons
lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good one
At a glance; Fury, Outlaws, Mountaineers, Swarm are already trademarked by other hockey/sports organizations. Stoked to see Doubleday & Cartwright involved, they do fantastic work.
I’m not sure any of those names would hold up under trademark since they’re not exactly unique names. Outlaws has a few different minor league teams from different sports with that name with no issue. Although I think your point of other hockey teams having these mascots under any level of competition is a fair point to consider.
Glaciers is ridiculous - glaciers move VERY slowly. Can you imagine the teasing when they get roadkilled by the Avs speed?
For the record freeze (like blast), could also be a noun, i.e. deep freeze, or, to put a freeze on something, just saying. Anyway, my initial four votes were for Venom, Yeti, Blizzard, and Hive. I have a strong feeling that NHL Utah is going to be either the Blizzard or the Yeti. Worst possible choice IMHO? Hockey Club/HC 👎. Quite frankly, any of the other 19 possibilities would be better than THAT one. That one NEVER should've even been trademarked in the first place, it's bad enough we have North American professional soccer teams called Football Club/FC and Soccer Club/SC.
You should research before making videos. Utah is the Beehive state
if they do swarm they can call the arena the hive, and do things like feel the buZZ to match the jaZZ Lol
Mountaineers, Caribou, Black Diamonds, Powder, Swarm, Blizzard, Canyons, Hive, and Outlaws are all references to Utah's culture, geography, history, or ecology.
Whether or not they're actually good names though... That's definitely up to debate.
I voted for Glaiers and outlaws for my top 2
Utah hands so we can have the jazz hands arena
Utah Olympians would be perfect
Smith got Yotes team extremely quick, they weren’t even given a chance to win the auction, and then he declares the team won’t have a name and logo for the whole next season and spews this list of names…
Maybe he’ll be fine as a franchise owner but as of now he resembles a spoiled brat who wanted some toy real bad and doesn’t actually pay attention to that toy; this kind of unpreparedness is disgusting
Could be the "Swarm."
Wow those are all pretty lame. I particularly like “powder” 😂
I live in salt lake and I just gotta say... you need to understand we are a big city and growing rapidly. We've always had the Jazz, but we have waited for many years for a pro sports team of any kind and we are very excited.
And Utah is the "Beehive State"
Our AAA ball club was the Buzz and now is the Bees. 😂
Outlaws is the only reasonable suggestion out of those listed.
I voted for Outlaws. Great name!!
I don’t care for any of them
Utah Eagles
Either Mountaineers, Outlaws or Mammoth imho...
I actually really like mammoth.
Yeti 100%
Black Diamond is a the designation for a high difficulty ski slope. I c how that could work...kinda. It's still a ski term, not sure🤔
Utah Venom actually sounds good.
It gives me lame "xtreme 90s" vibes
@@cope847yeah, definitely a 90s roller hockey team name
Outlaws!
I voted for Outlaws! Great name!
I like Utah Pronghorns. Its the fastest land animal in North America, and it's native to Utah.
The Utah Eagles ( it’s the new Utah state bird use too be the seagull famous for helping clean out the crickets 🦗 infestation way back ) but now I believe there state bird is the eagle 🦅
I’m so glad they did that! We used to have the state bird the California gull and the tree the Colorado blue spruce. All of our state symbols outside of the honeybee, were basically named after different states which is kind of weird. Luckily years back, they ditched the blue spruce, which was an odd choice in the first place there is not that common in Utah and there’s about 1 million trees you could choose from that better represented the state. I love that they changed it to the quaking Aspen.
Utah Gold
Why not the seagulls?
Yeah it’s the state bird but who associates a seagull with a landlocked intermountain state? Feels more like it should be on the coast.
Utah Snow Caps
The “UTAH SISTER WIVES” would be an appropriate Hockey Team Name.
Funny and original
Brother Husbands
@@adamforgie That’s Not How It Works in Utah, Maybe in San Francisco, CA.
I saw "Stormin Mormons" on fb. I know they'll never pick it, but I love it.
The half of the state that has no association with the Mormon church would not be thrilled though.
7:14
“It’s a blast…coming into your face…”
😏
You're acting like a lot of teams already don't have bad names. Minnesota Wild is a terrible name but guess what we got used to it. The Mighty Ducks now just the Ducks is still a terrible name but we got used to it. I personally like the Venom and the Yeti. Are they the best names? No but guess what we'd get used to it and much like those other teams with bad names in a few years it wouldn't matter
Utah wild cats?
YETI
Utah Tourist Trappers
The Mountaineers would go super hard though
To long the name cannot shout that out as a fan.
I thought of it like how the Rangers are called the rags and the Canadiens are called the Habs, the Mountaineers could be called the ‘neers. That and fans can chant Utah. You’re telling me Golden Knights rolls right off the tongue?
@@LKzombi3well yes because they usually just go with Knights. ‘Neers just sounds stupid.
@@jasonaltig985 don’t kid yourself, Knights sounds dumb too lol
Hopefully legorocks99 read this comment don’t know how too send otherwise!
I don't think I would spend a penny on any of these. I was planning a trip to see some hockey in Utah... THESE ARE TERIBLE.
Utah Yutes...excuse me, Youths.
You spelt it wrong... here, I will fix the updated spelling...
Utah ANTIFAs
Jokes that they have no name, must be a NFL fan lol
I like the Mountaineers...more traditional name and fits well with their state.
Vote yeti
Utah Whalers
Ill never call this team anything other than the Salt Lake Scallywags
The super soakers
Utah Super Soakers
I like Utah HC, it has an old school and formal feel. As long as not all other new teams end up with that name like in soccer. Even though we can argue that it' s the official habs team name: Club de Hockey Canadien. But I voted Powder!!!!
Powder? 😂 that’s the lamest one on the list.
Rarely do you see a two word team name. Red Wings, Maple Leafs, Golden Knights... Mighty Ducks. Black Diamonds is a mouthful even when compared to the others. Also rare is when a team is singular instead of plural. But you want it to be tasteful and not childish. I like Mammoth. Sounds like a big team that will run you over, and almost traditional. Think of the three other singular team names. Avalanche, Wild, and Lightning. Almost like a verb, but noun in origin. Mammoth, as in big, and Mammoth as in Woolly Mammoth. Perfect.
Ever heard of the kraken
We all know is going to be Utah Yeti. Just get it over with.
I like the Utah Lost.... The team itself kinda reminds me of the show Lost In Space.
Mammoth is wild hut i guess its one of the best options lmao 😂
Utah Raptors for the Dino found there
I see a lot of complaints about "Raptors" because Toronto's NBA franchise already has that name.
Apparently, we cannot have common names between these leagues? Too bad that no one told the NHL's Los Angeles Kings or the NBA's Sacramento franchise.
How about the UTAH Mormons Or joseph smith`s
I would like Mammoth better if it was plural.
freeze can also be a noun...
The Utah Fury is def my favourite
utah sasquatch
The utahs golden eagle like the sound of it
I'm not sure we want two "Golden" teams, especially as close together as Utah and Vegas.
If it's the Utah Freeze, EVERYBODY CLAP YOUR HANDS!!!!
Name them the Utah Titans!
The Utah powder 😂
Salt Lake City Nose Candy
Ice dragons would of already been better
Watch them get trolled
VENOM is terrible. The most generic name from every video game franchise create a team names. VENOM would be laughable.
Most of the proposed logos I see for "Utah Venom" would draw a quick trademark lawsuit from Disney, the company that owns all of the IP for Marvel Comics.
A Utah Venom logo would have to avoid similarity with one of Spider Man's nemeses.
Sister Wives
Wow I haven’t heard anyone say that before! Really original, great job🙄
Utah Yetis 100%
The Utah Shakers..... salt joke. Do you think the players will end up with a bunch of wives.....each? Lol.... mormon joke.
