I’m kind of new to the Fujifilm mirrorless world and I have been looking for more in depth and instructional videos on how to film cinematic styles. Thank you so much!!! Subbed!!
Hey, Tim! I absolutely love the look on the sports montage in the beginning of this video. I think the "How to shoot" video you did on the car commercial was by far one of the most valuable videos about video/cinematography I've seen in a while. There are lots of videos on either gear, technique, editing, etc. but I find the "This is the end result and this is how I got there from idea to end result" concept in this project format super useful. I can actually see why, how and what decisions were made. I'd love to know how you got to the end result of this amazing montage (from idea to prep to shooting to editing) and I really hope you make more of those "How to shoot: *project*" videos in the future. Wish you all the best!
Thanks for the video! I don't have anywhere near enough money for a setup like this, but I came across the X-T4 after seeing it was able to record 10 bit video. I was interested to know if there were DSLR/Mirrorless cameras that could do it. Great to see this in practice, since I often find it hard to find specifics about video capabilities on many different devices.
Direct and clean presentation. Thank you, subscribed! As a noob, I'm a little confused about reaching 'Netflix Standards'. The Fuji XT-4 falls a little short. But does using the Atomos Ninja V as a recording device bring it up to Netflix standards? It 'seems' like it does, but I can't seem to get confirmation on this.
Thanks for the rig breakdown. That Sigma is always my favorite lens too. Well that and my vintage Leica Summicron R 50. Those lenses even make my old Canon t2i pump out great looking footage. So, BMPCC is always an intriguing option. What makes you stick with the fuji?
@@Tim-Koenig hmm...interested to hear about this new camera once you get it. I am definitely a Fuji fan. Still don't have one but just love what it can do and love the "look" of the footage. By the time I can buy, they will probably be on their next model.
@@Tim-Koenig yes sure..it turns full range to legal so that you dont loose highlights and shadows..before the update Ninja V would clip input shadows and highlights..basically it maps signals accurately to legal range for NLE systems f.ex FCPX🙂
@@Tim-Koenig official documentation for Ninja is saying that we shouldn’t use it with Log. Yes, with this configuration it will record in Legal range and footage in FCPX will be within boundaries but is will also mess up the data (luma and chroma) in your videos so you couldn’t get what you shoot.
Hi Tim, great video as always. I really like the Small Rig video setup. In your opinion is this setup better then using the DJI Ronin-S. I recently purchased the Ronin-S but it appears the Small Rig setup works better. Your thoughts!!! Regards, Doug
Hey- I bought this cable you recommended, but I am not able to get a signal on the atomos in 59.97p 4k from my fuji xt4. I get a signal at 29.97p 4k, but anything above there I lose signal... Also, just discovered that I am able to get a signal at 59.97p 4k if I turn on 'output info display'... which is useless. very confused.
Great video! I'm thinking of buying a similar setup! A question regarding IBIS: When do you use IBIS when shooting handheld? I really don’t like the look on the XT4 but without a heavier rig I use it mostly handheld and static shots since it does produce alot of jitters otherwise! Do you have any other tips regarding IBIS settings? Thanks!
Hey Tim, thank you for the video. I have a question though... When you use ninja for recording, do you record to your sd card too? if you do when you try to check the playback of recording on your sd card, does the ninja show the playback? I have a hard time trying to playback things from my ninja v from my sd card.
Can you please tell me if you can monitor your fstop, shutter speed etc on your atomos ninja when it is in video mode? The only time I can see the data on my xt-4 reflected on my atomos ninja is when I am using the gear menu. I don't have this problem when using my xt2 in video mode. I can monitor everything on my camera. When I use the xt-4 in stills mode I can see all the various info like fstop etc on my atomos ninja. I am trying to figure out if my xt-4 has a flaw in it and can't get proper feedback about this from either atomos or fuji. My final question is can we eliminate all the info on the atomos ninja so that we only see the info from our camera so it's not completely crowded? Thank you.
HI could you can check please and give response about prores raw did he work on FUJI XT4 i see on the movie that you have option PRORES RAW to confirm did this work?
@@Tim-Koenig in terms of the manual focus i can definitely agree. do you also notice a difference in terms of sharpness or the overall image comparing it to for example the 18-55
What is beneficial using a rig, let’s say I don’t care of a handle or mic and monitor as well. Would the cage give me any benefit when it comes to the performance?
@@Tim-Koenig I order the same setup for UUrigh which I am expecting soon expect the wooden Handel, instead I will get metal one for only one reason to get rid of the jitters and hope it helps. Let’s see how it plays out. Oh I was going to ask you how do you manage MF while doing handheld shoots, I have been ruining all of my shots. As soon as I touch the lens the video shakes so I have to use tripod or gimbal. Anyhow helpful tips?
There's gotta be a better way to rig all that up. Instead of being so tall and having an off-balance camera rig...there's gotta be a way to make all that more compact and nimble. If you had to shoot somebody inside a car, driving...from the passenger seat, you would probably hit the roof...no ?!
There are tons of ways how to rig up a camera. This is just one way I love to do because then you gain some weight to the camera which helps filming handheld without all the micro shakes. But you can customize how you like

Hello Tim, thanks for the video! Size files with the Ninja are smaller than straight out of the camera right ?
I cant seem to find that specific hdmi clamp for the xt-4 anywhere
Love your channel ! I was checking your lut video and do you think it would work on 8bit fuji file ( ordered an xs10 )
if we record 4k 60fps on the atomos? is it still cropped 1.2x like internal x-t4 record?

Dear Tim. can you say excatly full name your hdmi cable . amazon show lot of diffrent cables. thanks
Great content, how do you combat the sigma 18-35’s autofocus sound? Or are you only using manual focus? Thanks!

so you can choose the ProRes because the X-T4 gives you uncompressed signal - right?
How are you handling the port cover when installing the smallrig cable clamp?
Are you sure you can't shoot raw with a ninja v on the x-t4? Also what about 6/5.9k?
Do you cut off the door flaps in order to attach the small rig hdmi clamps?
