I think it would just end up as a gimmick looking at the current state of the website. Government is just doing the Indian version of Right to Repair with less emotion in it.
You're only talking only about some phones. But, Many electronic appliances are meant to run about a decade & some devices more. Some companies stop supplies & also restrict device owners to use third party by their firmware/software. Life of a device is not 3 years only. And Right to repair is more about consumer & enviornment both.
Right to repair revolution is hard work of years & persistence of Consumer Rights organization named as Mumbai Grahak Panchayat. Giants like Google, apple threatened & pressurised Consumer forum not to bring this bill. But govt took it seriously. that's why Indian consumers are at advantage & Rights are preserved
The right to repair is an important concept that many believe should extend beyond just mobile devices. Automobile companies often void warranties if repairs are done outside of their authorized service centers, which limits consumer choices and can be costly. This has led to calls for broader right-to-repair laws that would give consumers more power over their own property and greater control over repair options.
I had a disappointing experience at the MI service center today. I inquired about purchasing a battery for my Redmi 6A, but they refused to sell me one separately and insisted that it had to be installed by their technicians. This undermines the concept of the right to repair, especially when I am more than capable of installing the battery myself.
Wow this is really great! Good to know things are moving are the right direction, been gotten tired of terrible services from service centers, they charge so much and offer too little.
*Right to repair* doesn't mean every owner of phone 📱 would be able to repair it. It only mean means that you don't always have to depend on service center established by that manufacturer for everything including as simple as *changing a dead battery* 🔋 😮😢 Changing of battery 🔋 should be possible by owner himself 😊... While for other technical issues he should be able to get it fixed from *any nearby service center* (not necessarily company outlet 😢) and the replacement parts should also be freely available. That goes for the schematics for the devices 😮as well.

Great movement from government, This is what I wanted
India leading the way
This is really good and shows that current government is smart enough to get it done where US can't. This will help our country in a long way.

I hope right to repair turns into a global thing soon.
great news, well done to govt.
This is the best news I read this new year and the nerd in me is super excited for it!
Unless the company says the replacement part is half the phone/device instead of specific part.
Great initiative by Indian govt.
Could You Make a Full Video About This? What is privacy, terms, how many service centers are available in a rural area, and other stuff?
Finally a good video for new year
Very good initiative!

There’s definitely a catch here. Some data going from us to the man on the website
Just see the guy on the left .
So what? If you live in India, you have to share the data as if you are special
The government should make sure that no company locks their bootloader especially vivo and iqoo which have a very tight lock on their bootloader.
make a proper long form video of this pls
Is it applicable in the automotive sector?
No results found under the Mobile section as of now.
Thank u bro
When will we get mobile spare parts out here?
