I have a grandson who left for Penn state and I love queen and now he plays every instruments. He loves queen. I’m 73 and when I’m gone , I have no doubt he will carry queen to any children he may have. He has a Louie Armstrong award and money to further his music. Plays starting with all the saxes. Therefor his award. But at one time he even had queen curtains lol! Has every album. Now has a band , young The 7 degree brass band he’s the bari player. But anyway I have no doubt queen will be here for a long time. I’m glad to see some of the rappers check out older music

So happy you reacted to this song again, Rory! This is the song that started it all for me - imo, one of Brian's many masterpieces. EXQUISITE!! I remember in the mid-1970s being at a friend's home...she had bought the album, Queen II...it was playing in the background...I hadn't heard Queen...at the time, they hardly got any air time on the radio in the USA. I remember thinking "oh WOW, who is QUEEN?" I bought that album...played it hundreds of times. This remains one of my all time favorite songs from that album which is loaded with great songs - Seven Seas of Rhye, March of the Black Queen, Father to Son, etc. From then on, I wanted to see them in concert...sooo fortunate that I was able to do that just a couple of times. The way this band performs onstage was pure MAGIC to me. And what can I say about Freddie that hasn't been said before? That VOICE...always #1 in my book! Thanks Rory.

The interplay between Freddie on piano and Brian on guitar-Flawless. Both masters. Freddie seemed possessed on the keys, and this is one of Brian’s best guitar solos.
A prime example of a song that was truly lifted from good to perfect by the live performance.

This is my very favorite live Queen performance, perhaps my favorite live performance ever. They all brought their "A Game" for this one. ...and that guitar, holy $h**! It powers right through me every time, rattles my soul. Brian wrote this beautiful song. You and the cameraman need to be fired. Not once does the camera go to Brian as he is absolutely shredding the guitar lines and even you failed to mention him. Sigh..The screaming, crying and wailing guitar is my favorite part of this performance, I get chills every time. Freddie is sort of supporting the guitar or at least playing back at it.

Freddie Mercury was a very charismatic artist he connected with the public and showed the best of him, not all the singers are like him , they simply sing the song and after they finish, they leave . But he did not, he was a truly showman. Be patient with Nala Rory she's a puppy therefore she's playful and rascal, when she'll grow up she will be more peaceful, thanks for the reaction. I can’t believe you’re doing this. This song is so amazing from Queen. I was so taken with it the first time I heard it. It’s like medieval. It feels like a gothic tale from a roving minstrel. Such atmosphere. And of course Freddie’s voice just blows me away.

This is my favourite version of the song. I like this Live version better than the studio version. Freddie's voice is exquisite....just beautiful. And the musical interlude is beyond amazing...the guitar and the piano literally talking to one another... this gets your heart and soul. They tell the story all on their own....then the drums come in...softly, just there....enough to hear the beats... They were so practiced which is why their performances were pretty much perfect. Freddie's look is so beautiful and you can see his Persian ancestry in those eyes and sharp jaw line.

Did you know that brian made the guitar sound from clean, in the verses, to distorted in the choruses, just by putting up the volume on his guitar. That's the genius of VOX amplifiers! After the first verse you can see bri put up the volume with his hand. Watch it again! :)

Today, 04 August 2023, FREDDIE MERCURY: A WORLD OF HIS OWN opens at Sotheby's London Auction House. The exhibition features 1500 items from his home at Garden Lodge (now online by Lot #). Really an exquisite collection - all had remained there since his passing, suspended in time. Mary Austin expressed she needed to get her matters in order and knowing Freddie loved Sotheby's, thought that a good match. WILL YOU BE OUR EYES AND VISIT IN PERSON? Free to the public (see online details) through his birthday 05 September. After that, three LIVE auctions, three ONLINE auctions. To know the house has been emptied feels to be another final curtain. Who can imagine that house without his presence. Saw a tiny teaser exhibit in NYC which included his handwritten lyrics for BoRap. Goose bumps.

I find this really sad. But I guess Mary wanted to be able to be in control of Freddie's possessions and to know what happened to them rather than leave everything to the wolves after her death. I still think of her as the young Mary with the eternally young Freddie but of course she's now 72 ....

(While I think that Queen’s shows at the Rainbow in 1974 and the Odeon Hammersmith in 1975 are equally iconic… for this particular song, this 1975 performance is the ABSOLUTE BEST.)🥰

This a masterpiece written by Mr Sir Brian May, but Mercury adopted this song as a child and put all his love and soul in his interpretations, even in the way he play the piano. All the band members were very talented and very good in this one. Mr Brian was awesome with the lyrics and guitar solo, Deacon was very good playing the guitar with Mr Brian as a unison playing in the solo part. Roger was fantastic with the drums in a softer tone. All of them showed their talents and individual capabilities as great musicians.
