The fact that "Godzilla: Minus One" was only made on a $15 Million budget and blows all the $100M - $300M movies CGI outta the water is a game changer. 💯% #MarkMyWords
I honestly like how Godzilla minus one was more focused on how a real Godzilla encounter would be, a horrible and distressing experience, I like the monster verse for how they put action in Godzilla and kaijus but I like minus one for making it serious and focused on Godzilla being an actual threat. It’s a masterpiece and it shows that you don’t need big name actors and everything else for a good movie

Across the Spider-Verse" and "John Wick" were undeniably two of the most exhilarating movies I've experienced this year. The animation and storytelling in "Across the Spider-Verse" took my breath away, transporting me to a mesmerizing multiverse of Spider-Man like never before. And as for "John Wick," Keanu Reeves' intense performance coupled with the jaw-dropping action sequences left me on the edge of my seat, craving for more. These films truly pushed boundaries and left an indelible mark on my cinematic journey. I am beyond thrilled to have had the opportunity to witness such masterpieces this year and cherish the sheer enjoyment they brought into my life. As for the Thanksgiving movie.. and it blew me away. The suspense, the twists, and the sheer intensity kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. It's incredible how a seemingly simple concept can be executed so brilliantly. And let's not forget about Saw 10 guys! Man As a long-time fan of the franchise, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It's a true testament to the series' legacy, capturing the essence of what made Saw 2 so captivating. Both films exceeded my expectations and left me craving for more heart-pounding horror. Now unfortunately I haven't had the chance to catch Godzilla Minus One yet, but I'm eagerly counting down the days until it's available digitally. The buzz surrounding the film has been absolutely incredible, and the positive reviews have only fueled my excitement. From what I've heard, it's an epic spectacle that delivers on all fronts: awe-inspiring visuals, epic monster battles, and a captivating storyline. It's amazing how a film can generate such hype and leave audiences yearning for more. I simply can't wait to finally experience the greatness of Godzilla Minus One myself. As always thank you Chris for keeping us entertained and informed throughout the year, Cheers to an amazing year ahead and may it be your best one yet. Happy New Years & Kudos to Chris for highlighting these gems & for always making us laugh!
My picks for the worst ones are: 10. Ruby Gilman: Teenage Kraken 5.5/10 9. Wish 5.5/10 8. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania 5/10 7. Meg 2: The Trench 4.5/10 6. The Little Mermaid 4.5/10 5. Peter Pan and Wendy 4/10 Some dishonorable mentions for me would be Rebel Moon, Cocaine Bear, Indiana Jones (hurts to say it as a massive Indy fan), Family Switch, and Chang Can Dunk My favorite ones are: 10. Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 9/10 9. Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie 9/10 8. John Wick Chapter 4 9/10 7. Past Lives 9/10 6. Godzilla Minus One 9/10 5. Oppenheimer 9/10 4. The Boy and The Heron 9/10 3. The First Slam Dunk 9/10 2. Suzume 9.5/10 1. Across the Spider Verse 10/10 Some honorable mentions for me would Black Clover: Sword of The Wizard Kings, The Holdovers, Killers of The Flower Moon, Mission Impossible, and Blue Giant
@@ilikesurfingbbbf9032 I loved Mario. I really did. I just loved these other movies a bit more. And I didn’t want to put a bunch of honorable mentions. Others I would’ve put would’ve been Nimona, TMNT, The Killer, D&D, a few others.
My number 1s from each category Best movie: Godzilla Minus One - I enjoyed this movie as a Godzilla fan boy, and this movie actually made me care for the humans with some moments I'll never forget. Worst movie: Meg 2 - Bored out of my mind. Nothing new or creative. Guilty pleasure: Beau Is Afraid - Seen many did not like this movie, as a person with a fucked up imagination and also has anxiety, Beau's adventure reminds me of everytime I think about going outside. Definitely enjoyed this more than Hereditary and Midsommar (though those are also incredible). This movies pretty good, even though it felt like a 3 hour heart attack odyssey. Most surprising movie: A Haunting In Venice - Loved the previous entries, and a huge fan of the books. The reason it's surprising is because as a fan of the book, you'll realise how different the movie is from the book. I was so excited, but also sceptical. Nonetheless I really loved this movie. Probably my favourite out of the Hercule Poirot trilogy. Most disappointing movie: 65 - I really tried to enjoy this movie, I really tried. But I just didn't. It was just boring to me.
Iron Claw is also a movie that is still sticking with me a week after watching it. Still can’t imagine how this kinda awful tragedy happened in such a short time to a family.
Honestly the movies I absolutely loved this year I really liked and enjoyed some guilty pleasures are Mario movie Five nights at Freddy’s Elemental Thanksgiving Ninja turtles mutant mayhem Saw X Cocaine bear Scream 6 Barbie Guardians of the galaxy vol 3 Transformers rise of the beast They were really my favorite movies of this year of 2023, and really can’t wait for 2024!!! And still trying to watch: Godzilla Minus one, mission impossible, Migration and John wick 4 hopefully i will soon!!! :D
Oh yeah I can’t forget across the SPIDERVERSE!!! That’s absolutely the best movie as well!!! Thanks for reminding me about that great Spider-Man movie! :D@@graffiti.777
My Top 3: 1. Five 2. Nights at 3. Freddy's Im obviously very biased, i know theres a ton of issues and cons of the movie. as a hardcore fan waiting literally the day it got announced, there were aspects i got annoyed or disappointed about. Regardless, we got the FNAF MOVIE, and its still so surreal to see these guys on the screen in action looking as game accurate as they are! its still a dream come true, and from a fan perspective its my 9/10 movie :)
Glad you enjoyed it. But personally, cant believe i waited 6 years for it. And it didn't turn out anything like i wanted. My expectations really werent that high either, I really despise it.
@@Tahri_0 that was my first thought watching it. Not despising it but disappointed. Rewatching it over and over tho I love it more and more:) it’s not what we expected but I still am satisfied with the outcome
@@ENDERTRAPCOI can understand that, Considering the first time i watched Transformers ROTB and Jurassic World Dominion, I did not enjoy those much at all. After rewatching, somehow my opinion changed and i enjoyed it x20 more than before😂
I’m glad you loved it, but as a pretty big FNAF fan myself, I really didn’t like it and was heavily disappointed. The PG-13 rating really hampered how good and genuinely scary it could’ve been. There’s also some genuinely bad writing in the script that I can’t overlook like William Afton’s “I always come back” line which made absolutely no sense in the context of the movie and it was clearly just put in the movie solely for cheap fanservice.
My top tiers movies of 2023: 1. Across the spider-verse 10/10 2. Five nights at Freddy's movie 9/10 3. Super Mario Bros. movie 9/10 4. Teenage mutant ninja turtles 8/10 (i just saw a trailer) 5. Nimona 7/10 (Netflix) 6. Teenage kraken 4.5/10 (disappointed) 7. Elemental 2/10 8. Wish -9/10 (haven't watch it)
White Powdered Sugar Bear, Saw X, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Godzilla Minus One were my favorite movies to go and see this year. I will say, when I saw the first trailer for the new Indiana Jones movie, I was hooked right away. I love the music in that trailer as well as the Super Bowl TV spot, and my oldest brother did tell me that people had mixed reactions to it, but I stay away from watching reviews of movies nowadays so that way I can go see the movie and see what I think without knowing of any spoilers and stuff like that. And from what I remember watching it the first and only time I saw it and then re watching it again on DVD, I still like it. I'm glad that they didn't kill off Indy and gave him a happy ending with him reuniting with Marion. I also wore my Indiana Jones hat when I saw it in theaters. I will say, Godzilla Minus One has beaten all of those movies out of the water. Easily the best movie of 2023. Can't wait for Godzilla x Kong The New Empire.
The most guilty pleasure movie for me is the fnaf movie and rise of the beast ,mainly rise of the beasts because my family is huge transformers fan and we come from a Peruvian background and made us happy the Peru moment that were included
Most critics are out of touch with what the majority of people like though. Mario is a perfect example. Look at the audience split. 59% critic (280 reviews) 95% audience (10k+ reviews). You do it right with your reviews and how you look at them from different perspectives. Wish more would do it like that.
Here's my top 9, along with an honorable mention. Honorable Mention: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Even though I thought it was mid, I just wanted to mention it. 9) Migration. It's just a fun guilty pleasure to watch from Illumination. 8) Another great addition of the Fast and Furious franchise, and Jason Momoa especially stole the show. 7) Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. For my first Transformers movie in theaters, I actually enjoyed it. 6) FNAF. Now I normally don't watch horror movies, because I'm not a fan of them (Sorry Cris), but the trailers kept on dragging me it, I did some more research on the games unintentionally, and it's another guilty pleasure for me. 5) Spider-Man Across the Spider Verse. Controversial spot, I know, but even though it's the best animated Spider-Man movie by far, the story is so freaking good, I just need to see part two just to see where it goes. 4) TMNT: Mutant Mayhem. A fun TMNT movie to watch in theaters, and even though some of the jokes from the Turtles got under my skin (even though I'm Gen Z) and the ending was... a choice, I still had fun with it. 3) Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3. A great and spectacular sendoff to the Guardians and here's hoping James Gunn can pull of this excellent storytelling in the DCU. 2) Elemental. This movie surprised me. I was not expecting to like this movie as much as I did. It is one of Pixar's most underrated films and I hope it gets more love. 1) The Super Mario Bros. Movie. This was my most anticipated movie of the year, I was really excited for it, I started playing the games for the first time (Finally), and here are my thoughts. Critically, I feel like it should've had more story, more time for the characters to gwt to know each other, more depth, and more character development. Criticisms aside... *THIS MOVIE WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!! EVERY LITTLE BIT OF EASTER EGGS, THAT EPIC FINALE, JACK BLACK, MARIO KART, THE MUSIC, THE POST CREDIT SCENE, AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!* So, that's my list. If no one agrees with my #5 spot, I'm sorry, and Cris, you can temporarily ban me from the comments.

I agree there were odd character decisions in Indiana Jones, but I actually enjoyed it after watching it a second time. It does feel like an adventure, and I was happy they didn’t actually try to replace Indy. Again, character decisions were odd in segments but overall it wasnt a bad film, better than Crystal Skull imo, but also didnt live up to the hype as a final film

Chris I’m surprised “Smile” wasn’t on your most surprising. Everyone thought that one was going to be a typical run of the mill sub par horror film and it wound up being fantastic.

I only saw 10 movies this year. From least favorite to most favorite, they are (keep in mind, I don't actively dislike any of these films): Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Five Nights at Freddy's, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Napoleon, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Barbie, Wonka, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Nimona, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I could potentially see The Color Purple before the year ends, but I'm not completely sure about that. If I do though, I'm sure it'll be one of my favorites of the year
Honestly Saltburn was one of my favorites to release this year, the cinematography and acting was beyond amazing. It’s incredibly underrated and kinda being overlooked bc of certain scenes
Here's my list: 1. The Marvels & Wonka (tied) 2. Barbie 3. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part 1 & The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (tied) 4. Five Nights at Freddy's 5. The Super Mario Bros. Movie. 11. Wish 12. Haunted Mansion This list isn't saying that the lower on the list the worst they are, it's just a tough choice to pick my personal favorite. These are just my opinion. I really enjoyed all 12 of these

The Boogeyman 9. ROTB 10. Fast X Honourable Mentions: John Wick 4 Talk To Me Evil Dead Rise RE: Death Island Ferrari
This is a great review of the year and I agree with most of this. My personal favorite film of the year was Mission: Impossible, loved the story and action. Across the Spider-Verse and Godzilla: Minus were definitely amazing and Fast X and Five Night's at Freddy's makes my guilty pleasure list as well. I was though kind of surprised to not see Ninja Turtles as part of that list because that film was also amazing.
13:28 so fun fact about The Boogeyman. The original source material was so cool. It told the story of this dude telling his psychologist stories about the boogeyman, and how he is haunted by it, but at the end it’s revealed that the psychologist was the boogeyman the whole time. Not sure why the movie didn’t do that storylime

Im not a gamer, but i really liked the mario movie, but i tend to love the movies that critics hate. I also like The Fast & Furious movies. They get hate because they're ridiculous, but thats why they're great. Just awesome action.

I finally saw "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" and I'm gonna be honest: 1. The Animation/Visuals are stunning 2. Choreography was insanely amazing 3. Voice Acting was damn good 4. I was super impressed that it had me rooting for Miles Morales (I never loved nor hated him) 5. I can't lie... I thought the Story-Writing was a complete mess, I will just leave it there. I have checked out most DC/Marvel Films recently & it isn't "Superhero Fatigue" at all, it's more on the lines of Questionable Decisions, Poor Marketing, and a Content Problem.

BlackBerry being on this list honestly makes me happy sad. It was never going to make its budget back. It was never going to reach an audience it deserves. But my god Matthew Johnson is a hell of a director. I would kill to see him given a decent budgeted movie, even though obviously blackberry is already decent.

Some dishonorable mentions for me would be Rebel Moon, Cocaine Bear, Indiana Jones (hurts to say it as a massive Indy fan), Family Switch, and Chang Can Dunk
My favorite ones are:
10. Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 9/10
9. Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie 9/10
8. John Wick Chapter 4 9/10
7. Past Lives 9/10
6. Godzilla Minus One 9/10
5. Oppenheimer 9/10
4. The Boy and The Heron 9/10
3. The First Slam Dunk 9/10
2. Suzume 9.5/10
1. Across the Spider Verse 10/10
Some honorable mentions for me would Black Clover: Sword of The Wizard Kings, The Holdovers, Killers of The Flower Moon, Mission Impossible, and Blue Giant
❤
Damn, this is a great list 👏👏👏
Where is the Mario movie
@@taran- thank you Yuta 🔥
@@ilikesurfingbbbf9032 I loved Mario. I really did. I just loved these other movies a bit more. And I didn’t want to put a bunch of honorable mentions. Others I would’ve put would’ve been Nimona, TMNT, The Killer, D&D, a few others.
My number 1s from each category
Best movie: Godzilla Minus One - I enjoyed this movie as a Godzilla fan boy, and this movie actually made me care for the humans with some moments I'll never forget.
Beau is Afraid is solid imo…
Iron Claw is also a movie that is still sticking with me a week after watching it. Still can’t imagine how this kinda awful tragedy happened in such a short time to a family.
Honestly the movies I absolutely loved this year I really liked and enjoyed some guilty pleasures are
Mario movie
Five nights at Freddy’s
Elemental
Thanksgiving
Ninja turtles mutant mayhem
Saw X
Cocaine bear
Scream 6
Barbie
Guardians of the galaxy vol 3
Transformers rise of the beast
They were really my favorite movies of this year of 2023, and really can’t wait for 2024!!!
And still trying to watch: Godzilla Minus one, mission impossible, Migration and John wick 4 hopefully i will soon!!! :D
Hell yeah! John wick 4 is so worth it and badass! But where TF is across the spider verse?
Oh yeah I can’t forget across the SPIDERVERSE!!! That’s absolutely the best movie as well!!! Thanks for reminding me about that great Spider-Man movie! :D@@graffiti.777
Mine is Mario movie fnaf movie and across the spider verse movie
Im honestly surprised he didn't put Gran Turismo in best movie of 2023
My Top 3:
1. Five
2. Nights at
3. Freddy's
Im obviously very biased, i know theres a ton of issues and cons of the movie. as a hardcore fan waiting literally the day it got announced, there were aspects i got annoyed or disappointed about.
@@Rediscool9 And that god awful fort building scene,
My top tiers movies of 2023:
1. Across the spider-verse 10/10
2. Five nights at Freddy's movie 9/10
3. Super Mario Bros. movie 9/10
4. Teenage mutant ninja turtles 8/10 (i just saw a trailer)
5. Nimona 7/10 (Netflix)
6. Teenage kraken 4.5/10 (disappointed)
7. Elemental 2/10
EVERY LITTLE BIT OF EASTER EGGS, THAT EPIC FINALE, JACK BLACK, MARIO KART, THE MUSIC, THE POST CREDIT SCENE, AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!*
So, that's my list. If no one agrees with my #5 spot, I'm sorry, and Cris, you can temporarily ban me from the comments.
Haha i agree with the spiderman one tbh
How is Godzilla not on here 😢😢😢😢
@@bobbyfischer9927 I um... well, the thing with that is um... th-there's a good reason why I d-didn't include Godzilla is because... (high pitch voice) I haven't seen it?

I agree there were odd character decisions in Indiana Jones, but I actually enjoyed it after watching it a second time. It does feel like an adventure, and I was happy they didn’t actually try to replace Indy. Again, character decisions were odd in segments but overall it wasnt a bad film, better than Crystal Skull imo, but also didnt live up to the hype as a final film

I appreciate all your videos recently recapping 2023! You da goat!!
Chris I’m surprised “Smile” wasn’t on your most surprising. Everyone thought that one was going to be a typical run of the mill sub par horror film and it wound up being fantastic.
That was on my list… last year when it came out lol
Man time flew by, felt like yesterday it came out
Dang Smile came out in 22???! Jeez time is so weird these days.

If I do though, I'm sure it'll be one of my favorites of the year
I’m kinda surprised killers of the flower moon wasn’t on the best movies list… (imo it’s number one)
Im so glad as a Godzilla fan, that Godzilla Minus One is being praised by everyone. The little kid in me is very happy.

These are my favorite videos of yours every year!! Man you make the best videos! Keep it up and i cant eait for the 2024 season !!
DUDE WE'RE EATING GOOD. Three long videos in a row. Let's go!
I look forward to your videos so much man. My movie news guy!
minus one actually became my favorite movie of all time.
The movies that made my day

Thanks for mentioning DnD too! That was the surprise if the year for me
Im not a gamer, but i really liked the mario movie, but i tend to love the movies that critics hate. I also like The Fast & Furious movies. They get hate because they're ridiculous, but thats why they're great. Just awesome action.

1. The Animation/Visuals are stunning
2. Choreography was insanely amazing
3. Voice Acting was damn good
4. I was super impressed that it had me rooting for Miles Morales (I never loved nor hated him)
