not everybody can swim breaststroke, I can swim breaststroke easily and I know some people who can do it too, and I also know people good at other styles but bad at breaststroke, some people have a certain knee type which makes breaststroke incredibility easy for them, while others it's the opposite

Thanks so much, whenever I did breaststroke I always looked like I was drowning. I wouldn't even glide or pull water out with my hands. I always moved so quick but swam so slow during breaststroke. Pulling your feet after taking a breath is the most tricky part for me. I'll work on that. This video was so helpful so thank you!

I never learned this technique from anybody and while first time in swimming pool I was embarrased by my friends as they could swim but me not. Well I decided to stay afloat in water and just keep trying something to move forward. Finally and naturally this technique came out of my body to push itself and after few strokes I found myself moving forward. I still have to learn how to breath bcz normally I keep looking towards the floor. Yes we can do it... come on new swimmers the key is to have patience and keep going to pool regularly ... you will see the results

I took swimming lessons when I was 10, learned the freestyle except the breathing part and some backstroke. Twenty-five years later, I enrolled again in lesson and can now swim a decent freestyle and backstroke and breast stroke. Mostly the lessons focused on freestyle while the backstroke and breast stroke were an after thought. While I'm able to swim the breaststroke, I'm not certain of the timing where the kick begins in relation to the arms stroke, that's while I'm watching these videos.

They have the highest success rate for getting candidates through SO, SB, EOD, ND, and AIRR selection. Also you should be focusing on the combat sidestroke instead of the breaststroke. It’s more energy efficient.

I have to say, as a competitive swimmer and a breaststroker I can tell you that this breaststroke isn't even that good. He's not flat (foundation of a fast breaststroke), He's going way too far under the water each time, and his arms are coming WAY too far down to actually do anything but make breaststroke harder to learn especially if you're a beginner. He is also dropping his knees under his body as he kicks which will make you more likely to sink. If you can practice the kick right up against one of the sides of the pool if you're still working on your kick, it will make it so that your knees physically CAN'T go under you - which should translate really well into actually swimming. I'm sorry but this video is honestly probably hurting more than helping your stroke.

I watched the video again, and I didn't see him bringing his knees up under his body, where is it that you see him doing that? Also I am confused about how deep to go on the push phase. I was taught many years ago, but like you said, I was taught to stay near the surface and not completely submerge. At the pool where I go I see very good swimmers and on the breast stroke, they do like this guy does, and go under on the push phase. I wonder if it is a new way to do the stroke. Now I don't know which way is right. I find it hard to break the habit of staying near the surface, I've been dong it that way for too many years. I really wonder which way is right, every video on breast stroke I see has the swimmer going under.

I have a weird thing when doing this stroke that I swim forward, but when I retract my arms to go in for another "push along the water" I kind of go back a bit. I don't know if you know what I mean.

it sounds like your hand positions are off... When you retract your arms, try to really focus pulling your body up to breath but also to fly forward at the same time. Try to work with a pullbouy and paddles for focusing on your hands

my problem was the breathing technique, I always inhaled while submerged in water and than I exhaled furiously with my head above the surface :( As you can imagine, this quickly lead to the near stroke situation after just a few strokes, so it was really hard to improve on the technique whatsoever because every attempt was a life-death situation. I reassured myself that I was doing it at least partially right, as the style name is breaststroke, and I was feeling the stroke building up in my chest with every attempt. I felt like I just needed to relocate the stroke from the chest to breast and than all will click together in a behemoth of a stroke! The total recall stroke!! The star gate stroke of ancient gods!!!!! The Stroke of all strokes... And now, Im one stroke closer to reaching my goal, all thanks to this life changing video, thank you! And remember, speedo is baaad, mkey?

I’ve definitively been doing this wrong. I use a scuba mask when doing laps and just breat stroke underwater because I don’t need to come up for air. I tried this via a not as good tutorial and felt that I may re-injure myself (pinched nerve). So I prefer my way as swimming for me is about meditation first, fitness second. I’ve dropped at least two sizes so I’m doing something right. But this is extremely helpful and I’ll give it a try.

I thought the hands are supposed to emerge from the water surface when thrusting the arms forward?
