And don’t tell them to vote just because they are old enough to. That’s not right.

Trevor is a linguistic genius! The black coach crisis reminds me of the women professors in the college of engineering at my university. Very often, there is only one or two women in a department of 20-ish profs. I guess that's how they demonstrate that they do hire women

Completely agree about your commentary about Whoopee, unless there's more behind-the-scenes info from The View that we aren't aware of... I don't have cable and don't watch talk shows nowadays, but I've always thought of Whoopee as being pretty open and learned and willing to learn from conversation and experience. I'm curious now about more information. Growing up, I mostly learned about the Holocaust as being based in religion, and only later learned that it extended beyond Germany and Judaism. In fact, it wasn't until I taught school myself and accompanied student trips to the Holocaust Museum in DC that I bore witness to all of the artifacts of eugenics from Hitler's "reign." As an avid scientist, I had known about Josef Mengele, but hadn't delved further into the historical details of his campaign of "public health" and "genetic fitness." There's always an opportunity to learn more, stand corrected if mistaken, and, as you said, use those teachable moments to speak openly about your own areas of growth and to encourage others to learn more as well. In fact, I gained perspective from this mistake/misunderstanding because I didn't realize there are people who recognize the atrocity of the Holocaust without realizing it was about more than man's inhumanity towards man (race included or not). I would rather see Whoopee be invited to take leave to do study or create a special segment that she can present, rather than be suspended... but perhaps that's the teacher in me shining through? Hmmm...
I agree with you that I don't think her statement was made maliciously, and that this could have been used as a teaching moment. However, I can understand the semantics of her comment (whilst not agreeing with it), modern science considers race to be a social construct, and ethnicity would be a more accurate term. Where I see that she was incorrect was ignoring that, while race might not have initially created to enforce a caste system (genuinely unsure as to it's inception), it was used in racist ideologies, to sanction violence, enslavement and genocide against indigenous people, Black people, Jews, etc...
She was correct. It was not about race, although the Nazi's were in fact racist as well. But it was not a driving factor in the attempted genocide of believera of judaism (who are not a racial group but a religion that is inclusive of all races)

Caldwell was fired because they changed GMs the season prior to his firing. GM's for better or worse almost always want their own guy. Usually its the same year the change happens, sometimes it is the next. The GM made the move and that move cost him his job. That is how it works.
