My understanding is that a sonic maximiser is designed to replicate the fact that the speed of sound varies slightly depending on frequency. In real life, a high frequency arrives at our ear at a slightly different time to a low frequency, when both tones are produced from the same source at the same time. So, I understand a sonic maximiser is a delay, where the delay time is varied for the various frequency ranges within a sound.
I like the aesthetic of Land Devices for sure and if there is humor behind that, all the better. The "First Quality" and the mixer are definitely something pedal aficionados could use. As for Nirvana, I saw them a couple of times before they became famous up in Washington state at a party and a bar. They were something to see for sure, they played very loud and aggressively but you could tell there was more going on than just volume.
The split and parallel guitar pedal jam was so cool. I have honestly never thought of stacking sounds that way. Looks like I have some gear to add to my list.
