✩ SHOP The STAMPWHEEL here: ldli.co/e/26j37ym Hi friends! I hope you enjoy seeing a first in-depth look at the Altenew Stamp Wheel. I think it is an incredibly innovative stamp platform with so many possibilities for amazing stamping techniques. I customized a sticky mat with centering markings to make my Stamp Wheel work best for me, but I am sure accessories like it will be released very soon! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! :)
I pre-ordered mine. Thanks for an awesome review! I decided to give this a try because I like the wheel. I ordered the Misti early on and wished I had waited because of later Improvements. It would be nice if they offer accessories with a discount for those who preordered.
Hi Simon! I have been following you since a long time ago. First, It was adorable to see such a young kid into card making and after, as you were growing up, I was impressed about your entrepreneurial drive and all that you have accomplished at such a young age. Well, today I have to tell you that you got me impressed again and definitely you have gained my respect for the gracious way in which you have stated your honest opinion without putting down the brand, explaining what goes into the creation of a tool like this, not only the quality but, the creativity of the maker, just stating that in your specific case, it wouldn't be something you would be using everyday. On top you, you left very clear that you were asking your followers please not to say that it was overpriced because it was not what you said, and it's true, you didn't, you just stated a fact: it's pricey and you understand why and explained it to us. Way to go Simon, keep breaking a leg.
After lusting for the Misti for 3 years, I finally just got one. Well, now I want this Stamp Wheel!!!!!! It looks so easy! Thanks for your review Simon!
Thanks to Simon’s demonstration, I clicked on his link and pre-purchased the Stampwheel. It arrived two days ago. It’s no secret to my crafting friends that I am the world’s worst stamper. I get more ink on me than my project. I am so very happy to report that I stamp like a pro with my new, and already much loved, Stampwheel. It is an amazing tool. I’m looking forward to trying my luck at stencils. I give the Stampwheell two ink free thumbs up. On a side note, we are so lucky to have Simon! Warm regards to you all, Greg
If you factor in the cost of both the Misti stamp positioner AND the sticky mat, the price difference is not that different $83 vs. 100 for the Stampwheel. The photopolymer mat is a great idea & will be more durable than the sticky mats. The ability to rotate to create wreaths is also a plus. Well balanced review.
Lol my misti style stamp platform bought from crafts too cost £16 my mats about £8 for 5 from Ali express. £24 VS $100. However, if it could also replace your waffle flower blending mat and your gel plate it might look better value.
Thank you Simon for your review. I have watched several videos but yours is the first that answered my question about how to use cling red rubber stamps with the wheel. I have been thinking long and hard about this tool because I have 3 other stamping devices and gave one I absolutely didn't like away. I especially appreciate the factual approach you took to justify the price point. Yes it is high, but manufacturing new products takes money. I hope that over time, when it isn't so new, Altenew will lower the price to pass savings on to the community. In the mean time I will always be a gadget lover and I think I deserve this addition to my inventory. It will add new techniques to my crafting. BTW Simon, I began watching your videos when you were quite new to RUclips. I have watched you grow up on my big screen. Your skills and delivery have improved 100% and now you have your own product line! Congratulations on your success. Keep up the good work. I am old enough to be your grandma (70 last week) and I couldn't be more impressed if you were my own.
I love editing Simon! You always give me a chuckle in your videos. Thank you for your honest review and show the ‘mistakes’ that happen. You always keep things very real and are so informative! ❤
The Stamperatus by Stampin Up won me over because I could use 2 lids and flip them for layering stamps, etc. This tool is even better and with the photo polymer base for stencils, I think it’s an even better value. Great job Altenew!
That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking! Having used and liked the Stamparatus very much, the Stamp Wheel improves on some of the limitations I’ve found in the Stamparatus. That said, my go-to tool for regular stamping is the Misti. Not because it’s better, but because I’ve used it so much that I don’t have to think about any steps- it’s fastest for me.
@@cg2264 Very true. I'm fortunate that, over time, I have been able to get all three, and I think they all still have their uses. I love my mini Misti for quickly placing a sentiment or stamping a simple card. I bought extra plates for the Stamparatus so I can keep my two "handmade by" stamps permanently lined up on one plate (one centered for landscape and one for portrait). I also like having the extra plates for mass-producing Christmas cards with many different stamps in the design. I think I will especially like the Stampwheel that arrived a couple of days ago for wreaths and stenciling, though I believe Altenew replied to my query that they will also offer the flip plates separately so one can have extras.
Sadly, I only learned about Stamparatus recently when there was another RUclipsr’s video advising that it had been retired - I was very intrigued by the options of the two removable lids.
I really appreciate your comments about why innovative tools cost more. I think most people have no idea what goes into making new products, including be the costs of all the attempts that for one reason or another never make it to mass production
Yes! It’s helpful to be a crafter and also know a lot about behind the scenes manufacturing. It’s super pricey to manufacture something like this for a small company… so the price seems pretty justified. They aren’t trying to rip you off! :)
As another alternative to the sticky matt, maybe you could use the grid lines from the original packaging that was on the photopolymer square base to help line up card stock for red rubber stamps. Obviously, it won't be sticky, so using some spray adhesive or stencil glue could possibly work, and then that way, there is less plastic waste? I suppose it depends on how warped it is once it's been taken off the photopolymer square, but I think it would be worth exploring. Any thoughts? :)
Incredibly well-done demonstration, Simon! In all honesty, I think I will hold off on purchasing this tool as it seems… well… a bit tedious. I agree, that the price point is high. How do I say this politely? I love new ideas so, kudos on the wheel. This is just not different enough for the investment… at this time.
I ordered one yesterday for all the reasons described, plus the Misti + Wreath Builder by GK restricts cardstock sizes and this looks more generous and flexible for wreaths. Apologies to GK-I love all your products!! Why is there a grid in the packaging? I think I saw a demo where the grid was in place?? I’ll play with the grid as some of these replies suggest and hopefully revise my reply.
Simon, Thanks so much for this video! I love my Altenew Stampwheel! I did exactly what you recommended but I used the grid that came attached to the sticky mat, I now have markings showing exactly where my A2 size card goes directly in the center, I'm really happy with that. I did cut out the corners of the Grid so that the mat would still stick to the bottom of the platform and it works great. What a wonderful tool to use especially for stamp layering and wreaths, like you showed us using your Pinstripe & Berries & Branches stamps. Even with the higher price range we all bit the bullet with our Misti and are now happy we did! I believe, with time This tool will be an investment to our craft!
I absolutely love what you said at the end. I don’t think I’ll be getting the tool right now, but kudos to Altenew for the work they put into this. I think with a few refinements (your suggestions were excellent) they can do well selling this and at least recoup their investment. And I bet their next tool will be even better. And so on. But we need companies like them to be innovating. You’re right, so thank you for that reminder. 😊
When they make it magnetic, include a sticky mat, and add a dark outline for where an A2 card base should go to center it, I will consider buying it. ❤ Great review!
In my opinion, you did an excellent job reviewing this product. That wheel looks a little bulky to use on a daily basis but I can see how it would be extremely handy when making multiples of the same card. And it appeared to be a really sweet tool when you made the wreath! The wheel/platform seems to be a combination of Altenew's turn about jig and a stamp platform. I agree, there needs to be something on the bottom with marks, measurements to ensure proper card and/or paper alignment. Because it was so obvious when you removed the photopolymer pad to use your red rubber stamp, I'm am genuinely surprised Altenew didn't notice it right off (no slam against Altenew intended). Your creation to solve that issue was great! Job well done as always Mr Simon!!! TFS
This isn't bulky at all. It looks bigger than you think. Its actually a decent size. I can fit in my drawer in my micheals cabinet with plenty of room around it.
Thank you for the unbiased review and all the different testing. I think this tool will actually give the Misti a run for its money. She can’t sue Altenew because with the rotating lid and photopolymer mat, it is unique to anything else. I personally don’t care if it is magnetized bc the sticky mat would work best for my needs. I will definitely put this positioner in the queue. Maybe with your great recommendations, there will be a version 2 in the future 😂 Thank you Simon!
Ditto about Iliana suing! I think it was sucky that she actually won her suits. People have been using two picture frames for years before she came up with "her" idea. I much prefer the TH platform, but "may" consider this in the future - IF I can bring myself to pay that exorbitant price! Sorry, but I think it's way overpriced.
I got mine for my Birthday from my BF , it came in yesterday . Can't wait to try it out. Didn't want to just jump in and start useing it . I knew there had to be a Simon video out there to watch and I found it. Thank you so much for showing all these products.
I think this would be a game changer for use with the concord & 9th turnabout stamps. I was not sold until I saw you stencil with it. Now I will be pre-ordering one. Your solution with the sticky mat spot on! I have been cutting and using those for years and find they work just as good as the ones that are on the market today made for that purpose. My hope is that Altenew will make some sort of clear contact plastic adhesive grid for the bottom of the platform. That would solve the grid issue which I think is a necessary option for something like this. In the interim I think a piece of Cricut gridded release paper (the kind you use with Cricut type vinyl)might do the trick and should be fairly easy to stick to the bottom of the platform. Like you I don’t think this will replace my Misti for everyday use but it definitely will come in handy for some applications. Thanks Simon for the honest review and all the tips and tricks.
I love Altenew, but was on the fence about whether to invest in another stamping platform right now. Your wreath demo was what I needed to see, and I never even thought about the stenciling potential. Having such a great range of uses beyond layering stamps makes it a more valuable tool for me. Thanks for doing such a comprehensive review!
They could also offer a replacement top for the multi stamping, in case you have more layers, like the we. R precision press. That way you could have two wheels going, to crank out those Christmas cards, without having to peel off the stamps to make room for another layer or sentiment.
I also think that your final comments are very well thought out! The suggestions how to make the tool even better are very useful - hopefully to Altenew, too, they are such a great company! And obviously the price - while forbidding for many - can be more than justified - and this is the kind of thing you not only (like you said) by once in a lifetime but it is also worth saving up for (and there is no one saying you can‘t start your Christmas wishlist in March 😂).
Thanks Nicola! I try to be unbiased and ensure that I am watching out for all of you when doing these reviews. But being on the manufacturing side too with my own products, I am able to understand both sides of it. Altenew is such a great company and here I can definitely see where the price is justified. Hugs!🤗
I love your videos Simon. You are very creative and encouraging. Please keep it up. This is a creative stamping tool and I appreciate when crafters like you demonstrate and provide your honest feedback. Have a great day, Simon and crafty friends!
I love this new tool whereas other wreath makers require you to have a square piece of paper you can use a rectangular card front to make a wreath on this tool. That takes an extra step out of making wreaths. Awesome!
Thank you BOTH so much, Editor Simon and Normal Simon, for the in-depth review and suggests. I received an Altenew StampWheel for Christmas 2023. The minute I opened it I knew I had to come looking for your tutorial. I watched it when you first posted this so I knew it was chock full of tips and tricks! Thank you BOTH!😄
I truly appreciate your unbiased review. This is something I will put on my wishlist because it’s so innovative to the stamping process. Kudos to Altenew for developing this and wanting reviews for improvements. Thank for sharing this.
I would think the photopolymer part could also help with the reverse or mirror technique. I don't have a large enough surface on any of my stamps to use that technique.
Just a suggestion, but rather than moving your cardstock to the different corners for the layering stamps, just rotate the clear wheel for each layer, after you line up and add the stamp layer onto the cardstock and pick it up with the wheel. Then you just have to turn the wheel from 12 to 3 to 6, etc (hope that makes sense. That would save you some effort. I preordered mine a couple of weeks ago, and am looking forward to playing with it. Thanks for your review! (Sorry, I wrote that before I saw the whole review). Love your idea with the sticky mat and the markings - genius!
I love, love, love Altenew. They are my most favorite company when it comes to card making. Thank you for the great review. I’m your biggest fan. Lots of love from Dallas ,Texas, Klara.
Thanks for your honest and in depth review, Simon. I, too, respect Altenew for their innovation, but overall this tool comes up short. Too many work-arounds, too many moving parts, and my arthritic hands would suffer after so many times flipping the stamping wheel back and forth to ink a stamp.
Thank you for your video and the review of the Alteew Stampwheel. I have to admit when I first saw the Stampwheel I wanted to rush out and buy it but after your comments I will not do this as I rarely do wreaths and I don't own any layering stamps. I have a Misti and find this is great for what I do and I have a turn around mask thingy (which I made myself) and this works fine for what I need. Your review was honest and excellent. I think a lot of people will still purchase this Stampwheel and Altenew deserve praise for designing it.
They obviously should’ve sent you one for testing before bringing it to market. But then again, adding sticky mats and magnets will just be another item they can sell separately 🙄 I honestly don’t find this to be any better or much different than other stamping tools on the market. Thanks for the thorough unboxing and testing. I really appreciate a good review of a tool before purchasing.
Simon, thank you for your honest review of the Altenew stamping wheel. You made some good suggestions for future upgrades of the product and I am sure that Altenew would be grateful that you really put thought and effort into learning about their product. I also appreciate what you said at the end of ur video about negative comments hurting the small businesses that we know and love!
I already pre-ordered this product, but haven't received it yet. I was sold when I saw what it could do on the Altenew site, but their demo was far less thorough than yours, and I was further convinced by your demo that I made a wise purchase. You offered several suggestions that were excellent, and I agree that they should offer replacement parts. I hope that they offer additional clear top plates as well, so that you could leave stamps on for creating multiples of the same layered stamps with say the flower on one plate and the leaves on another, without having to remove the flower stamps to do the leaves. I don't have a Misti, but I have a We R Memory Keepers Stamping tool that has that feature and have multiple plates for it, which I really like. You do a fantastic job on your videos with creative ideas and clear explanations. You and Jennifer McGuire are my favorite You Tube Demonstrators!
Good idea for the sticky cutting mat I thought of that too, I would line up the markings on the mat to be in the exact center of the platform which would also provide other marked edges to line up. Thanks for demonstrating the stamping wheel for us.
I was on fence about buying it but after this video I have decided it's worth the investment. I would rather save for quality and multi use than go cheaper with something that will not make it easier or last. Thank you Simon I truly appreciated this video and the many others you have shared.
Thank you Simon for your candid review on the Stampwheel. I am pretty biased when it comes to Altenew products just as I am with Ranger products because I love them as a consumer. I bought the Stampwheel and adore it for many applications. One thing I wanted to address was the alignment where you put the custom grid in the middle (which was genius) however Altenew has already addressed that issue and is coming out with an alignment tool to use in the Stampwheel on the 11th of April. Thanks again for your candid review and I am a fan of you, your products, and the Altenew Stampwheel!
Excellent and thorough review of the Stamp Wheel. Thank you so much for trying so many different techniques. I agree that layering, stenciling and wreath building is where the Stamp Wheel excels. At first I was not sure I was in the market for another stamp positioner . But you really showed us how impressive this tool is. Kudos to you and the Stamp Wheel.
Nicely done. I am seriously considering this tool. Your review helped a lot. As far as the price. I think it is very reasonable. My goodness. Everything is going up. I’m sure the materials cost more. All of the other stamping tools are pricey as well and I think they are worth it. This tool seems to be so versatile. Altenew is a fabulous company. Thanks again. Take care ❤️
Thank you, Simon! I have the stamp positioner from Stampin' Up and have been using an old Cricut mat. It shifts a bit and the idea of taping it to the platform is genius! Seriously, 🙌
I agree that it is slightly more expensive than some of the other stamping tools. However, for the sheer simplicity of batching cards with layering stamps and making wreaths ect, this tool is gonna be worth every penny. We'll just have wait and see what it retails for in the UK. I may need to invest in one of these.. Thanks for another great video, keep them coming.
Thank you for sharing and instructing on how to use Altenew's Stamping Wheel. It's one I'll look into for the future. I love how you can use it for stenciling. That's the selling point for me. I'm going to order some of those sticky mats in the future. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Hi Simon, My Stampwheel just came in, so I’m binge watching all of the videos reviewing the Stampwheel, so far I’m impressed. The quality is definitely very good and it will last a very l-o-n-g time. TYFS your opinion.
This would be a good complement to my Stamparatus. The 7.5" base size is nice as it easily fits the standard rectangle and square card sizes. I agree that a centering grid of some kind is needed, which would be made better with marks for A2, 5x7, and 6x6 paper. I've never been able to line my C&9 turnabout stamps up nicely in my Stamparatus (all user error as I haven't broken down and bought their sticky jig). This would be great for those stamps! The price point seems fair for the product. It overlaps with some other tools on the market, but is distinct enough to consider buying. I like that there are 16 "positions" for rotating a stamp to add more dimension to a wreath. Thank you for the open-minded and comprehensive - yet concise - review, Simon!
It took me a minute to see how you were doing it, but after watching it seems real easy. Love your hints, especially the sticky mat. I’ll have to check and see if it’s a good investment ($$ wise that is). I love my MISTI.. thanks Simon.. Just an added note I did purchase this. I hope you get something from this. Can’t wait to get it and try it out. I do a lot of stenciling and I do a lot of cards of the same ( assembly line). So I’m hoping not having to move the stamps around will be nice. I’m thinking that yes I can layer stamps , but I can also stamp the cardstock with multiple stamps( this is what I’m hoping). Thanks for the video Simon
Yay! Glad you got your hands on one Jean. I think you’ll end up loving it for all of the reasons you mentioned. It’s super versatile for these techniques. :)
I am editing my own comment…Simon, instead of placing tape runner behind the card stock for the rubber stamping; have you tried the Tonic Studios - Tim Holtz - Media Grip Mat? This is an amazing mat. I have cut one for the size of my large Tim Holtz stamping platform and for my Misti stamping platform. It holds both my card stock and stencils in place as well as allowing one to mark on the mat. All without interfering with the Stamp Wheel. Just a suggestion. Thank you.
Thanks for this great review, Simon! I must say that the rotation technique in stamping is not a totally unique one, but Altenew’s version of stamping rotation in this tool certainly is and the best is that it gives you the accuracy needed for EXACT REPEAT STAMPING which is what made the Misti such a hit. For some of you viewers who go a ways back, you may recall that InkaDinkaDoo (out of business and no longer available) had a line of stamping tools that were plastic circles (and maybe squares) with notches in the circles where you could adhere clear stamps to a mount and then placing the mounted and inked up stamp in each notch to create a kind of frame. I still have mine but rarely use it. Lindsay, the Frugal Crafter has one too and pulled it out to demonstrate it one time. There are other brands that have created kind of “press down” stamping tools, but not with the accuracy and ability to do exact placement re-stamping as needed along with the great versatility of the StampingWheel. I’ve already pre-ordered mine and can’t wait to use it!
Thanks Nancy! Yes, it’s so cool to see old ideas come around again and be re engineered. Like you said, I’ve seen similar things, but never something with this much precision and accuracy.
I'm old enough to have a large InkaDinkaDoo collection. I love the Misti and I absolutely think Altenew's new platform is the next phase. I'm getting it.
I have the Inkadinkadoo stamps and the stamping tools that go with it. The Inkadinkadoo stamping tools create large wreaths and other large designs that don't work for cards. The Stampwheel eliminates that limitation.
Altenew is one of my favorite craft companies. They make the best layered stamps on the market. High quality layered florals and abstracts and other designs. I have the Misti, but I'm absolutely going to buy this product. I love that it can be used in a very different way from the Misti. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for this video! I've been wanting to see more about this tool. It looks great. I wonder how easy it would be to get stray marks if you don't align the block perfectly as you bring it down and it has to wiggle to get into place. Everybody I've seen demonstrate this tool seems to get it aligned nearly immediately.
That's a really innovative approach, using that scalloped edge so the whole top can come off. I love the way it can be rotated, and also that it sits completely flat for inking. (That's the one thing I find a little annoying about most stamping platforms, is trying to ink on something that's not quite flat.) But it looks like it would be a little tricky to fit back into the corners without your stamp hitting the paper surface before you're ready. Is there more of a gap there than we're able to see in the video?
I did purchase this tool. I love how you added your own twist to it as far as adding the xtra piece of grid and markings to the bottom. For card sizes was a great idea . Yes I agree to adding and upgrading magnetic so it doesnt move. Im sure maybe over time they might add those features and possible keep the peice at the 100.00 after adding those features. Then more people will see how much versitil it is and purchase this if another company doesnt do it before them and add even more features to it. All that being said. I think it is a great tool.
I would definitely want some kind of grid to help with lining up paper and stamps. The idea of a magnetic base to help hold the paper when using the rubber stamps is a good one! Awesome video!
I think it is good they left out a sticky grid. Now other retailers can create a grid or something to pair with it later. It would be an added expense, yes, but everyone crafts differently and maybe doesn't need it, so I like that they left it out.
So considerate of Altenew and their product. Brilliant for so many things! I think the price is warranted considering the quality! I've spent quite a bit on products that didn't live up to the hype because they were made so poorly. I'm enjoying your reviews. So nice to have your honest opinions. Thanks, love your vids!
I really appreciate another unbiased perspective on this product. I have numerous platforms and was not sure, given the price, whether I needed this one. However after watching the Altenew blog hop videos and yours, I am seriously considering. I am glad you showed the red rubber stamps as that was one of my questions but I am thinking the foam mounted red rubber would be too thick to use it. Now I think it is a unique new tool but you did point out some small drawbacks so I might wait for the next generation of the tool as I am betting they will make some of these improvements. Thank you!
I think this is an innovative tool…especially if you do lots of layering stamps…I love Altenew and The Greetery stamps and often struggle to have enough surfaces to use all of the stamps…This tool solves that problem and will make layering stamping a JOY! I pre-ordered mine and am looking forward to getting it. Wondering..it seems like there was a grid type sheet on it that was peeled off. Could that somehow be used in the bottom? Thanks for reviewing this, Simon!
I love my TH Stamp Platform and Stampin Up! Stamparatus, but do see where this promising tool could also fit my needs. I will check it out again around Christmas to see if any adjustments or improvements have been made, and probably at a sale price. Thank you for your time reviewing it.
I have been following Altenew on the making of this tool. They have invested a lot of time & money to get it just right. I honestly don’t think it is anymore expensive than the Misti. This is going to be perfect for layering stamps, turnabout stamps, wreath builder, & large background stamps. I find background stamps hard to get a good stamping with the Misti & TH platform. A friend saw this & wanted it so that was my gift to her. Looking forward to what she does with it. Great review Simon. I plan on getting one myself sometime.
I was watching Jennifer McGuire and saw her using it, but she didn’t do a review, just mentioned it (in that video.) I think it’s such a great idea so I went & pre-ordered mine. It’s supposed to be shipped 3/22. I have been looking for a stamping tool that I like better than my TH one, which honestly, I never became totally comfortable with due to what I think is a lack of cushiness and just a feeling of my own clumsiness with it. I kept wanting to love it, but never could. The StampingWheel looks to be what should work best for me, I think. At $100 bucks, my hopes are high and it’s an investment tool. I do believe it’s more expensive than the Misti, but looks to offer more versatility. I’m really looking forward to getting mine! 😊
I pre-ordered mine. But I never thought about the turn about stamps. I have almost all of them. Thanks for the hint😁I have the mini and regular misti and love them and use them as I mass produce my cards. I think I will love this one as well
@@nancyloomis3046 depends which size you get. My point is there is a lot of time & money spent bringing a new product to reality. Altenew won’t release a product until it is perfect & that is what I love about them.
Thank you so much for your review and your edits. I pre-ordered one the other day because I feel like this is a tool that can be added on to with different purposes (i.e. different wheels, stamp sets and specialty stencils all for use with this product), thus making it even more worth the investment. Great job reviewing as I was a little skeptical about the pre-order.
I love the innovative approach to stamping repeats, with more angle options than the other rotating templates/tools. Thanks for the thorough demo and honest review Simon. I always love your enthusiasm for the art and the industry.
What a great product review, Simon. Thanks for all the effort you put into this. It really looks like a very interesting tool. Thumbs up for your ideas on how to make it even more practical. Love that part the most. ❤️
Thanks Simon for the honest review. I think this will help many to decide if this new tool will be beneficial for them. There are so many great benefits of this Stampwheel! I agree with you that there could be markings on the bottom when using rubber stamps. Perhaps there will be with a future iteration. Your solutions, in the meantime, will be easy to make it still useful. --Kristin
Simon, thanks for this thorough review. One thought I have on it is that it takes up a smaller amount of my workspace when I am creating. And when I am creating, I tend to get very messy and my workspace gets smaller and smaller! Lol so using a misty when you have to flip the lid open, I usually have to clear stuff out of the way in order to have it lie flat and apply the ink. I’m thinking this tool will not have that issue. I’m planning to purchase it and I’m excited to try it out. Thanks again for a great review
Simon, Thank you for your awesome, unbiased and thorough review and your great ideas. I have all of the different size Misti. Love and use them all and will continue to do so. I have been waiting patiently for the Altenew Stampwheel. I saw it demoed at Creativation last year. I thought it was pretty cool so I pre-ordered it right away. I know it is made well because it’s an Altenew. And--It now has the Simon Hurley seal of approval! Woohoo!😊 Can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Well, I came into this video thinking you were going to give it a fake positive review. I do believe you were honest though. I have the same opinion as you. Innovative and has some unique uses that makes me want to get it. I have the same opinion as you that this would not be the everyday stamping platform, but I do like it for the wreathe and layering. I also want that photopolymer surface. I believe that's useful as well. I may actually purchase this eventually. This coming from someone who thinks the Misti and other platforms are over priced and I made my own out of a Dollar Tree bamboo cutting board, a die machine cutting plate, and metal hinges from Wal-Mart. (A frame can be built around the cutting board with popsicle sticks or a square dowel rod....for those who may ask)
I agonize over purchasing certain craft supplies because of so many choices! Thank you for helping me make informed decisions! I totally trust your opinion! ✌️❤️😊🙏
Thank you so much for this review. I just purchased it yesterday from a local stamp store and you gave me more ideas to use with it. I think I am going to try using a fine line permanent marker and draw right onto the platform underneath the photopolymer. This tool with be amazing to use with all of Gina K's stamp sets for mandala making. I'm excited to give those a try together. Excellently done review! So helpful.❣
Great new tool. Thanks for updates. I bought the Misti about 2 months ago, so until I get really good I will use it. You have great videos and explain things in detail. Thanks you so much.
Hey Simon! I think your idea is brilliant! I will have to do that with my Altenew Stamp Wheel. I just received it the other day and having a ball with it. But, I will definitely get a sticky grid mat to place in the bottom of the stamp wheel. The first thing I noticed when I peeled off the plastic from their sticky mat was that I lost the grid marks. I'm so glad you came up with this great idea to enter it back into this product. Thanks Yay!!!! 💛
I love it and your review came just in time before I was going to choose another tool that doesn’t have all these features. •My wish from Altenew is that they would develop an accessory acrylic top to stamp in 3s, 5s, and 7s. I love the circle of odd numbers as much as the circle of even numbers. Thanks for the tour!
Excellent review Simon. I saw another review, wasn't impressed, but yours was so comprehensive it has sold me on this being an addition to my Stamparatus. The 2 Stampartus plates reverse so there are 4 surfaces to work with so it's fine for layered stamping. Because of that I doubt I'll make a purchase right now but it will be on my wish list. I will need to do some serious soul searching before I spend that much money for what, for me, would be a stencil and wreath mat. I do appreciate your being so straight forward with the pro's and con's and suggestions for improvement. I hope Altenew watches this video and takes into account the comments from your viewers.
Thank you for another great video. I would love Altenew to tweak the products with your suggestions. Those suggestions would make the the best on the market in my opinion. The price does not bother me. I would really hope Altenew takes these adaptations to serious consideration. Thank you!!❤
I love my stamp wheel! It is so versatile in so many ways! Worth every penny to me because it is such a high-quality product and makes my stamping so much easier and quicker. Great video.
Hi Simon! This is my first time watching one of your videos. I appreciate your honest opinion of this tool but I wish you would have slowed your speech down just a bit. There were times that I couldn't understand what you said. It looks like you have some really neat products in your product line and I'll be looking further to see what all you carry. Thank you again for your honesty and your creative ideas to add to the use of the Stampwheel. Happy Stamping!!!
Hi I do like this new tool. I especially like how it makes using layering stamps much simpler since I often shy away from using layering stamps . Great video. Thanks Edgar from NYC
a few years back, we used to have a stamping wheel just the same, but without the sticky mat. That is what I am curious about. I wonder and doubt that it will remain sticky long enough without a protection of some sort. Just as everything sticky, it doesn't like air. Without replacing something to protect it, it will dry. I recommend to cover it with a clear window sheet, just as we do with our polymer stamps or with cricut mat, especially if you live in a very dry climate. The cricut mat is indeed a great idea to place underneath with the marking. It doesn't have to be cricut, any cheap mat will do.
Pretty cool tool. I like that you can do all of the layers over and over without taking the stamps off and repositioning them. The stencil sticking is a good plus, too. Good review, looking forward to more reviews.
I wasn't sure about this new stamping too, but after watching your video, I can see how useful it can be. Thanks for your honesty and for your creative add-ins for the tool!!!
Thank you for this honest review - I’m trying to decide on which stamping platform/press to purchase since the quality ones so expensive, especially for us in 🇨🇦 with exchange factored in. Still not sure which I will go with but this one might be a nice addition later on when I have had more opportunity to actually do some stamping since I’m essentially a newbie at it 😄
Thanks Simon, I've seen this tool on a couple of videos, but yours is far and away the best!! I'm not one for buying every gadget going, but you may just have persuaded me about this one
Excellent introductory review of this product. I've looked at the info from Altenew re the Stampwheel and decided to put it on the back burner for now. It's not the price point as much as "how many stamping tools to I need?" I don't have the space on my work surface or my storage areas for this right now, and I can see myself dropping the clear rotating surface creating scratches or breaking it. It's definitely a tool to consider, but ... probably not now.
Such a great video showing the pros and cons of the stamp wheel! I have now watched a few of your videos and have subscribed to your channel. Greetings from Michigan! 😊
Great deomonstration and review, Simon! I think it's pretty cool and worth the money because it has so many features that are amazing! Thank you so much!!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I got my notification from Altenew for the preorder and I loved it right away. Glad to hear that it is a quality product. I'm a huge Altenew fan. I have a bunch of layering sets from them. Can't wait to try this with all the techniques you demonstrated!

Hi friends! :)
Just preordered with your link. Good review.
Thank for doing this review. Now that you have had it for a month. How much have you used it? Any other fun tips or tricks learned?
True… add in the special template for wreaths and they come out about the same.
Lol my misti style stamp platform bought from crafts too cost £16 my mats about £8 for 5 from Ali express. £24 VS $100. However, if it could also replace your waffle flower blending mat and your gel plate it might look better value.
@@faithtester2217 Ali Express steals designs, so of course they can sell it cheaper. My comment is in reference to buying it from legitimate sources.
Was wondering the same thing.
Blue sky thinking never goes out of fashion. If you were to add stencil glue to the gridded film you've solved your problem.
I wondered why the grid pattern was in the packaging if you aren’t going to use it.(?)
I agree, I think they should do the improvements Simon suggested. Magnetic and the marks for card placement would make it a much better product.
Thanks for the demo, Simon. Really appreciated being able to see the tool in action... As 50 year crafter, I absolutely am glad for inovation!
Thank you BOTH!😄
I have quite a few ink layering stamp sets. This could be a game changer as I generally make 20 to 50 cards at a time for nursing homes and church.
Ooooh that is such a great idea to try! :)
Yup it does, the Altenew video demonstrates the mirror technique. They stamp directly on the polymer mat and press the cardstock to it.
Exactly what I was thinking!
That’s so thoughtful of you Sarah, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
Thanks again for your candid review and I am a fan of you, your products, and the Altenew Stampwheel!
gREAT SHOW SIMON IT REALLY LOOKS LIKE A NICE TOOL TO HAVE.........THANKS FOR THE DEMO.....PAT
Fantastic video Simon, as usual. You were very honest, warts and all. I love this new tool and the various ways you were able to demonstrate it.
Yay! Glad you found that helpful. Happy stamping!
I like my Stamparatus a lot but I'll likely replace it with the Stampwheel. Especially if Altenew offers additional plates.
Glad you demonstrated red rubber stamp use, as no other demonstrations have done so! Well done review.
Hi Simon,
My Stampwheel just came in, so I’m binge watching all of the videos reviewing the Stampwheel, so far I’m impressed.
Great demonstration of the new stamp wheel. Loved the extra editing. Thank you Simon.
@@pinkpinsofpain I'm not just a card maker. I'm a scrapbooker. The larger images work great for 12"x12" scrapbook pages.
@@barbaraparker8225 Yep am aware that the larger images are great for scrapbookers!
Altenew is one of my favorite craft companies. They make the best layered stamps on the market. High quality layered florals and abstracts and other designs. I have the Misti, but I'm absolutely going to buy this product. I love that it can be used in a very different way from the Misti. Thank you for sharing.
Agreed Barbara! Love Altenew’s products and the people behind the company are wonderful too.💙
Thanks so much for this video! I've been wanting to see more about this tool. It looks great. I wonder how easy it would be to get stray marks if you don't align the block perfectly as you bring it down and it has to wiggle to get into place. Everybody I've seen demonstrate this tool seems to get it aligned nearly immediately.
If you can afford it, this may be one of the more versatile stamping helps on the market. Would consider a purchase in the future.
Great honest review. Lots to consider and it's always exciting when new tools come out! Thanks so much!!
That's a really innovative approach, using that scalloped edge so the whole top can come off. I love the way it can be rotated, and also that it sits completely flat for inking. (That's the one thing I find a little annoying about most stamping platforms, is trying to ink on something that's not quite flat.)
But it looks like it would be a little tricky to fit back into the corners without your stamp hitting the paper surface before you're ready. Is there more of a gap there than we're able to see in the video?
Stumbled upon this while watching your Facebook short. And just wanted to say that I love the positive vibe you send out in your videos. 😊
Thank you so much Jess! So glad you love the videos. Hugs!!🤗🤗
I think this is a great tool for layered stamping. Any stamp positioning tool is an investment
I definitely agree - both a sticky and magnetic base would be a plus and I would buy it in a flash!
I agree with you about the magnet base & the sticky grid on the bottom, hopefully Altenew will listen to your suggestions
Thank you!
Hey Simon, glad to see you getting your crafty mojo back. Love your videos. Thanks for the video and showing us the new stamping tool.
Got mine in the mail yesterday and after watching your video I can’t wait to use it!
Thanks so much Roberta! Glad you found the review helpful and see all of the possibilities in this tool.
Thanks for your honesty Simon! I purchased the stamp wheel but I'm still getting used to it I keep thinking up the wrong side!
Great video! Thank you for all the tips and your positive contributions in this crafting community!
A great video, Simon! Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts with the new tool!
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions of this new product. I ordered one as my old Memories stamp platform needed to be replaced. Love it.
That’s so thoughtful of you Denise, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
Hi
I do like this new tool. I especially like how it makes using layering stamps much simpler since I often shy away from using layering stamps . Great video. Thanks
Edgar from NYC
Great, thorough review, Simon! ❤
a few years back, we used to have a stamping wheel just the same, but without the sticky mat.
Great review Simon! I love making wreaths and this makes it so simple. Yeah! Thank you👍❤️
Thank you for this honest review - I’m trying to decide on which stamping platform/press to purchase since the quality ones so expensive, especially for us in 🇨🇦 with exchange factored in.
Nice that you cut down a sticky mat to have the grid, I was wondering if you thought about using the "gridded" carrier sheet?
Such a great video showing the pros and cons of the stamp wheel! I have now watched a few of your videos and have subscribed to your channel. Greetings from Michigan! 😊
Thank u Simon for the demo. Just purchased the stampwheel will let u know my thoughts but I have a feeling I'm gonna be very happy 😊
